Miley on Provocative Pics: 'I'm So Embarrassed'

cyrus0429.jpg

In a statement released to People magazine, singer Miley Cyrus apologized for several playfully provocative photos that surfaced last week, as well as photos from a recent Vanity Fair shoot.

"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy," Cryus tells People. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

In the Vanity Fair pictures, Cyrus is allegedly wearing clothes, but she is posed in a way that makes her appear topless.

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots," Miley says in the statement. "I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone."

Miley needs to be embarressed. What is she telling all her young fans? My 8 yr. old daughter will be banned from watching her now. We all make mistakes, but she knew better!!! She isn’t a baby anymore…..Sad in Tennessee

I do think that Miley knew that the photos could cause issue. However she is young and makes choices that may not be the best. I blame the photo shoot, they should know better. I wouldn’t think gas prices would affect them that much to put Miley though this. I also blame her parents some as well. They should have been on top of this a little bit more. Anyway that is what I tell my children. That sometimes people don’t always make good choices even if they are wonderful people.

Maybe Billy Ray and Tish she be paying more attention to their child. Miley’s behavior in recent months has been spirling downward. First her internet photos, now this. What a shame. We thought that she was a good girl. I guess she had one too many sleepovers with Vanessa Hudgens! I’m soooo glad that my 10 year old daughter is looking for a new role model. Bye, Bye Miley!!!!

Miley seems like a pretty smart cookie. I find it hard to believe that she had no idea what these picutres were going to be. A liar on top of all of this! i’m so glad my 10 year old has written her off as a pig!

Shame on Annie L. for posing a 15 year old like that. Isn’t there a more appropriate way to photograph this beautiful and innocent girl other than topless holding a satin bedsheet? I now regard Annie L. in a less “classy” manner.

The Cyrus family is merely trying to capture as many dollars as possible for their own benefit. Nothing wrong with that really.
In so doing though, the risk is always there for offending someone -(someone who contributes to their benefit in real dollars but)- who happens to have different personal standards.
Would have been better to not hold hands with Dad, not show private areas too much on the worldwide web and definitely to put some clothes on for a photo shoot destined for a national mag. If she has a huge following already, why push the dynamics (purity, clean thoughts and respect)?
One can’t be perceived an angel at a tender young age while exposing too much skin. No one can have it all ways.

I really don’t understand all of the hubub surrounding such gorgeous pieces of art. Annie Leibovitz captured a complex piece of work as opposed to a raunchy centerfold. It was more than tastfully done and a lot less revealing than some editorial fashion photos (many filled with 14 and 15 year old girls mind you). The only “embarassment” to be had should be by the people making such a huge tempest out of this pot of tea.

i think that miley, is just like any other kid and you make mistakes and i think that it was not her fault and the magazine should apologize to the teens family and i think that no fan of hannaha montana will be upset with her at all.

maybe everyone who thinks this is such a discrace should look at their own kids my space or face book. Shes a typical 15 year old girl, well grounded with more sense than anyone gives her credit for. These pictures didnt show up in a teen magazine, they were in Vanity Fair..and what child reads, much less even looks at that magazine? I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with the pictures and think they are great. Were not talking a “crotch shot” for goodness sake, she showed her back. As for the “bra” picture…cant count how often i see teen girls with their bra hanging out from under a shirt…its the fashion these days.Give the girl a break and stop trying to find fault with everything she does. I applaud Disney for backing her up on this one.

Give the girl a break! The truth is the pictures look great, and she is growing up. If it were Lindsey or Britney nobody would have blinked an eye.

Good grief! Can’t the media find something else to focus on?Miley IS growing up and Annie Liebowitz did a beautiful job with a beautiful subject. There is NOTHING for Miley to be embarrassed about.Let the girl alone and let her be a teenager doing what teenagers do.Miley is far more grounded than the Spears girls ever were and she will be fine, let her move forward without trying to examine every move she makes.

I think Miley’s intentions were innocent. However shame on her parents, for not knowing the damage ahead of time. They are supposed to protect her not exploit her. Shame on them.

It does not surprize me that the mediea makes a big deal out of wonderful art work. I’m 52 myself and my late wife was a painter in canvas and oils. I also enjoy photo. but I’m a songwriter/musician first. We have 3 wonder children,2 grils,1 boy. All 3 collage ed. and doing very well in life. Thank-you GOD! Before we ask ourselfs about these photos that the mediea is making a big deal of, what were tht ages of the ones that most of the worlds greats paintings, stuates, etc. I don’t hear anything said about that. I did not see any sexal content in thise photos. I think if one does, then one needs to ck. yourself before feeding the mediea just what they want.

Where is the nudity? There are girls going to dances with dresses that show more than Mileys pictures show.Anyone that see’s dirt in these pictures has that in their own minds. These are works of arts from one of the worlds primier photographers.I mean really people we are seeing Mileys BACK!! If she was at the beach in her swim suit she would have less on.This is a none issue. To upset this girl and her family over this is terrible. But then this prudish country doesn’t worry about blowing people up just showing alittle skin.Weird priorities.

Time for damage control, eh? Anyone who knows a pretty 15yr old girl should know what girls dreams of at that age. Becoming a beautiful, popular icon that - cut - the hormones have kicked in.

As has the fierce take-down competition arising from that popularity. I’m quite sure a professional photographer isn’t going to allow anything seedy. Great photographers find beauty in any subject under the lens, just beware the Britney syndrome is my warning. Once the media smells blood… It can become life threatening to a young person’s psyche.

The media will attempt to push that button like madmen to evoke a response. Any response will do. Her fans need to be backing her up RIGHT NOW. Fans need to tell the media to get lost, before the syndrome sets in.

Step up. I’m not a fan. I’ve never seen a show. I’m simply the guy who knows when to say STOP. The critical junctures of life; I recognize. THIS is the split in the road of life for a young girl. The perception of innocence vs being portrayed as a “harlot” in the newsies? Very 18th century. I never step in unless: It is necessary for someone to. Step up.

i think it is terrible that Annie Liebowitz thinks that the only way to artistically show the beauty of a 15 year old girl requires sexiness or semi nudity. I think this is a fine young woman whose parents did not remember their country common sense. disappointing Billy Ray

I think she is an excellent role model for today’s teens. It upsets me that the media wants to make her feel dirty for something so beautiful…her. She has great parents who make sure she is well grounded. Everyone needs to let her be a teen. The Vanity Fair photos shine when compared to the shocking DUIs, late-night partying, permiscuity, and teen pregnancies in Hollywood. I think Miley is a breath of fresh air.
