Miley on Provocative Pics: 'I'm So Embarrassed'

cyrus0429.jpg

In a statement released to People magazine, singer Miley Cyrus apologized for several playfully provocative photos that surfaced last week, as well as photos from a recent Vanity Fair shoot.

"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy," Cryus tells People. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

In the Vanity Fair pictures, Cyrus is allegedly wearing clothes, but she is posed in a way that makes her appear topless.

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots," Miley says in the statement. "I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone."

would yall just leave her alone, i mean come on it’s a freakin photo shoot, let her have some fun, oh heres another thing, alot of people look up to her, including little kids and toddlers so if they watch extra, and hear all of those bad things about her, they might get really confused, and then what will they think?

I think Miley’s vanity fair picture is beautiful. Everyone takes that one picture and makes it into a HUGE deal. It is an amazing picture. Everyone is criticizing her for a couple of photos. I think everyone who is just gonna bring her down, just leave her alone. She is NOT a bad person. I look up to her as a rolemodel. she is the best. She is probably embarrassed that people take a photo for an YOUNG ADULT magazine and think its horrible. Little kids arnt supposed to look at Vanity Fair anyway.
LEAVE MILEY CYRUS ALONE

i think they are making a big deal out of nothing and little are kids arnt reading vanity fair and peoples magazines and on myspace, all they see is her concerts and the tv show hannah montana. she is a teenager get over it and if parents are so worred about her being a role model for kids why dont they look at britney spears or her pregnant sister jamie. just because she took a couple naughty pictures doent mean you need to stop your kids from watching her or likeing her. i think they are making this wasy more of a big deal then they should. miley was not even the person who told her to pose like that is was the photographer and she thought it was cool and fun and i agree with her. people need to chiil out. i think this whole thing was blown out of poportion and it is not a big deal!!!!!!

my daughter told me that she doesn’t like Miley Cyrus anymore she is Bad. She said that she only likes Hannah Montana. We are very diappointed. My children try to dress like Hannah Montana and i would never let my children dress like that. I think that her parents need to pay more attentionto the virtues of there daughter instead of the marketing. she is still just a kid and they are the parents .

I do not think these photos have any significance of Miley being a bad role model. I think Miley is trying to create an older, more adult image, and she made an innocent mistake that can be fixed, and she will learn. It also depends how you look at it artisticly. Miley has no reason to apoligize, as these pictures were shot be one of the most artistic and well respected photographers of all time. There is no reason for parents to be disappointed. If I had a chance to shoot with Annie I wouldn’t critic her ideas, although I probably wouldn’t go as far as MIley did.

Miley is growing up now and her fan base is growing up with her. I dont see anything wrong with the pic it was done in good taste. The other side to this is her pic will probally be made into posters and youg boys will fantisize about her too. This will expand her fan base even more.

I don’t think that there is anything wrong with Miley’s pictures and it is not provocative. The media blows everything out of proportion. I don’t think that anyone should feel embarrassed about the photo shoot. The photographer is quite experienced and she would never do anything that would be too exposing for the subject. I don’t think that Miley should have anything to be sorry about.

how can ANYBODY not see that it is another $$ maker for the media? The poor kid needs to be left alone. Ever noticed that the media for the past couple months has been trying to compare her to Brittany and Lindsay? the IS NO COMPARISON! The media is just looking for a way to rake in the $$ and they dont care WHO they have to ruin to get it.My 9 yr old daughter will continue to listen to her and be a fan.

I think this is being taken way too far. I think she looks her age in the photo. What if she had a backless dress on at some event and posed? Would anyone comment on that? Her parents were there and were monitoring all the shots. What more do people want? I think she is one young star who still has some morals and believes in her family and values their opinions.

WE LOVE YOU MILEY !!!

Wow, such hyperbole for what amounts to be absolutely nothing. These are hardly “shocking” photos. Rather they are quite tame. When I finally saw the “controversial” picture I had to laugh. People appear to be desperate to create a “story” where there isn’t one. Nothing will come of this and in a week nobody will even remember all the hoopla. If anything, this is a great advertisement for Vanity Fair and I’m sure the magazine couldn’t be more pleased.

Those pictures of Miley Cyruss were ridiculous. What in the world did she get those pictures taken in the first place? They are all egocentric maniacs!!

The pictures are beautiful. Don’t be so quick to judge.
As for the parents whose young daughters are Miley fans..you’re foolish if you rethink whether or not you want your children watching “Hannah Montana”….is your 8 year old going to be picking up a copy of Vanity Fare any time soon? Didn’t think so.

I Think the photo of Miley Cyrus was horrible and shocking because I think the topless photo of her was not beautiful at all it was embarrising and dumb.

Cut her a break. If the media wasn’t blowing this story so out of proportion most people probably wouldn’t even think twice about it. And do we really need to refer to it as a “topless” photo? No wonder these young actresses end up in rehab before they turn 20…who could handle the pressure???

Get over yourselves! The picture is innocent, tame and beautiful. Maybe the critics need to get their minds out of the gutter.Quit sending the young lady on an unnecessary guilt trip.

As it always has been, the concept of art so subjective, there is no right or wrong answer. The controversy surrounding these photos is evidence of Annie Leibovitz’s artistry, and Miley should feel honored to now be included in Leibovitz’s extensive portfolio of beautiful portriats, not ashamed. If parents are now angry because their young teenage girls now want their pictures taken with their backs barely showing, maybe they should take some lessons about culture.
