Kenny Chesney: Concert Foot Soldier

chesney0429.jpg

Country superstar Kenny Chesney is okay after bones in his foot were crushed at the beginning of his concert Saturday night in South Carolina.

Chesney's foot got stuck for about 30 seconds between the stage and a lift that elevated him to the stage, according to CMT. After the show, doctors from the University of South Carolina cut off Chesney's boot to minimize damage.

"I took one look at those fans, and there was no way I wasn't going on," Chesney said in a statement. "Sometimes the energy and the adrenalin pull you through."

WOW is all I can say…… Kenny performed in his usual fashion….AWESOME. Yes, he was in pain, and I think we all wanted him to stop for a second and make sure he was ok. He had opportunities to sneak off stage (like when Uncle Cracker was performing). I don’t think he thought of himself long enough to even consider it! He was determined to give the show we all love him for, and he did just that!!! Kenny SC LOVES YOU!!!! Hope to see you next year!

I WAS IN THE STANDS FOR THE 6TH STRAIGHT YEAR IN A ROW. I SAW HIM SUFFER THROUGH THE SET BUT NOT GIVE UP. MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE WALKED, OR HOPPED AWAY. HE CONTINUED TO TRY TO GIVE A GREAT SHOW. I HAD A HARD TIME WATCHING IT B/C I BROKE MY WRIST LAST YEAR AND I KNOW HE WAS HURTING ALOT. I WANTED HIM TO GET CHECKED OUT, BUT HE WAS THE ULTIMATE PROFFESSIONAL AND KEPT GOING. I THINK OTHER PROFESSIONALS AND ATHLETES COULD TAKE A LESSON FROM KENNY ON KEEPING COMMITMENTS AND FOLLOWING THROUGH. I WILL SEE YOU FOR YEAR 7. GET WELL SOON. WE LOVE YOU IN SC!!!

Kenny did an amazing show for the pain he was in. We were at the concert and he truly showed courage to continue so he would not disappoint his fans. He is a TRUE AMERICAN COUNTRY STAR. Good luck with your foot.

I was at that concert, and yes, he was a real pro in continuing. You could tell he was in extreme pain, as he would grab his knee and once you caught him saying Owww when the cameras were supposed to go off him. Though, you did not put the entire comment, which is very flattering to us from Columbia SC who were there. The rest of the comment goes as follows:

“They had come to rock, and there was no way I was sending them home with anything less than the best of what me and my guys came to do — put it all out there and give them back at least as good as they gave us. … Honestly, through the pain, through all of it, Columbia, S.C., totally got me through.”

I thought it was a wonderful comment for him to make after he did so much to make our night wonderful.
