Actress Cameron Diaz spoke about her father for the first time since his death two days ago -- and acknowledged the support she's received from fans.

"My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family," she said in a statement to Us Weekly."

The actress also talked about the life of her father, Emilio Diaz, a resident of Seal Beach, California. "My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live in our hearts."

Emilio, 58, died suddenly on Monday after a flu turned into pneumonia. Filming on Cameron's current flick, "My Sister's Keeper," was halted on Tuesday.
