“The Ice Storm” A few years back when Vito’s Pizza was across the street from LACC. Vito was trying to sell his Volvo. This guy who used to come in there was interested. But the price he wanted is too high for this guy. He offers a lower price. Vito tells him, “It would have to snow in Los Angeles before I sell it for that.” A few days later we had an ice storm in Los Angeles—the worst in history. Mister Regal, Vito’s pal, knows I needed a car really bad. He tells Vito about me. I’m in the WGA and had just got a story called the Ice Storm published in the L.A. WEEKLY. Vito reads the story. His pal tells Vito, “That’s the guy I was telling you about, Vito. He ain’t got much doe, but he really needs the car.” Vito thought the story was halirious and agrees to sell it to me. I’ll never forget the slice we had that day. It was the best ever. I often wondered what happened to Vito. Now I know. I can’t wait to get over there and get a slice. Vito has probably forgotten me. But he’ll probably never forget that Ice Storm. I still have the car. It’s just like Vito’s Pizza: TOP NOTCH!
