The Brad Renfro 911 Tape

“Extra” has obtained the 911 tape in which Brad Renfro’s girlfriend desperately tries to revive the former child actor.

She explained to the phone operator that “his nose is bleeding…he doesn’t seem to be breathing…he’s completely passed out.”

When asked what happened, Renfro’s girlfriend responds, “I’m not sure. I think he might have taken a couple of pills last night… I’ve been trying to wake him up to get ready and he just won’t move.”

The phone operator continues to give instructions on how to do chest compressions. Renfro died Jan. 15 in what officials described as a heroin overdose. The L.A. County Coroner's office has ruled his death an accident.

He was 25.

Renfro starred in 1994's "The Client" and had recently completed a movie with Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thorton.

The operator is a prick. He sounds condescending and disinterested. Borderline responsible….

does this show do this to everyone that dies? Remember, they aired Kanye West’s mother’s 911 call. Hummm…
by the way, the call is only airing 18 seconds. someone must have cut it.

Dont judge until you know how it feels to be in the situation. The saame thing happened to me and its very easy to say what to do when your not there its a different story when someone you love is lying beside you with bloo pouring out of their nose and ears.To say you panic is putting it mildly. The recording should never have been released in the 1st place, its sick if u ask me.Does the word respect mean anything to anyone………..R.I.P BRAD

This was just an all around terrible situation. His gf may have been either high on something or just really dumb, but you could tell she was trying to do all that she could. I know if it was me I would’ve been freaking out and I know how to do cpr! It’s not the poor girls fault though…if anything it’s Brads fault for dooing the drugs. Also maybe this will be the wake up call that the gf needs to change what she does with her life. Bab shame on you for saying all she wants is a new prada bag! Don’t ever pass judgement unless you’ve been in a similar situation. RIP Brad and may your gf be able to move foward from this in a positive way.

This is crazy. But he was prob dead before she even noticed. It sux that he didn’t have anyone around him who wasnt wasted.. But it isn’t her fault its his for doing the dumb drugs in the 1st place. There is only so much people can do for these drug addicts before they accidently kill themselves. Heroin is a horrible scarey drug. People need to stay away from that stuff. Terrible.

The girl is def. high or just extremly slow. The operator is acting like a real jerk. I think she is trying the best she can.

RIP Brad

His girlfriend sounds like she is completely fried. The reason it took so long for CPR to begin is because it took her forever to tell the 911 operator if he was breathing. (FYI- you cannot do CPR on someone who is breathing also 9 minutes isn’t a long time to wait for medics) Sorry to say but Brad Renfro is not that big of a guy and it should not have taken her over a minute to roll him over. I loved Brad since the client and I find this all heartbreaking but it is to bad he couldn’t have surrounded himself with better people who would help better his life and have some intelligence.
And for those of you who will criticize and say that she was stressed and I can’t judge your wrong because I have been in this situation.

Dont blame the girlfriend. While she’s clearly on dope herself, it’s not her fault he died. I think Lyla’s problem is that she expected the girlfriend to be freaking out because of Extra’s poor reporting. They didn’t have to say she was “desperately” trying to revive him. It’s bad reporting. That’s all it is. However, stoned or not, it’s not the girl’s fault. If you do dope, you’ll die and that’s real. Death is real. Dont do dope if you want to live. This girl will probably be haunted by this for the rest of her life. Just because she herself is most likely an addict, was stoned at the time, doesn’t mean that at some point she wont remember this. She will. Whether it changes her life is up to her. Stop judging her. I’m sure she has enough problems without your judgment LYLA

The paramedics were dispatched via computer right away. the Pd car only inquired whether they should attend because of a possible od. the operator did an excellent job of staying calm, giving instruction on cpr. I love people who talk just to hear themselves, when they have no idea what is really called for. Kudos! to the operator and the gf, for administering first aid until the professionals arrived on scene.
