Motion Against Paparazzi Being Efforted in Los Angeles

The ever-growing paparazzi who swarm many celebrities are about to get swarmed by a motion that may be placed against them in the next six months.

Councilman Dennis Zine is proposing an ordinance to grant celebrities a "personal safety zone" between them and the shutterbugs. The proposal will be discussed at a City Counsil and Public Safety committee hearing at some point in the next few weeks.

Many council members became alarmed after seeing unsafe tactics the paparazzi use to get shots of celebrities, including blocking streets with their cars and pushing pedestrians out of the way.

For a long time I’ve wanted to help the stars mobbed by the paparazzi. I think if someone could create a hand held strong strobe light device that the stars could hold and point at the papparazzi it would ruin their photographs and give them a taste of their own medicine! If any celebrity with enough money to create such a thing I can’t wait to see it. LeAnn

At last someone has seriously addressed the issue of public safety! This paps issue should be seen as “rioting” because that is exactly what it is…and isn’t that illegal?Just because they are targeting a celeb does not give them the exclusive right to break the law. This is enough to drive anyone NUTS!!! So c’mon police DO YOUR JOB!! or is the $$$$$$$$$$$$ too good to pass up?!!

I agree with the comment below…this is a double standard for sure…Pure chaos! Very dangerous and how are people to know what’s right and wrong, if the public officials pick and chose who gets away with what. Not a good example to the young at all. This is absoultely insane!

There is no justification for this sort of mêlée. To call this scene “unsafe” is the understatement of the century. The situation is so out of control that anyone with a loaded hand-gun could enter the fray and begin firing with tremendous ease. This a public riot, nothing less. If “regular” citizens swarmed the automobile of a public official, police officer, or even the vehicle of another person, authorities would be calling for back up and everyone would be carted off to jail. This glaring double standard of permissible public conduct makes one wonder what sort of kick backs the Paparazzi are paying the L.A. Police, and public officials, to permit them to conduct themselves in this way.

Way overdue! This is an invasion of privacy and what they did when the ambulance was pulling out should be criminal. This should be no different than interfering with a police officer and his duties. When an ambulance is transporting this means the person’s life is at stake. If I could go to the hearing I would. These are celebrities but, they are people first.

As I wander from web site to web site another thing came into mind. While your trying to control the papaz, maybe you can also control the amount of leaks that is coming from the hospitals and the Courts. Make stiffer LAWS on patient confindentally. To MUCH information about a patient are leaking out of the hospital faster than a broken WATER pipe. Information from the COURT house which is suppose to kept quiet are not..This also is a great problem and should be address.

I think the paparrazi are out of control! It’s not entertainment anymore, it’s just cruelty. Since when has being cruel and hurting others become socially acceptable? It’s disturbing and these are terrible people. Ever since TMZ and other similar shows have come about, the competition has become fierce and the cruelty got worse as a result. I say, get rid of this sick entertainment and start having more shows that will help the world rather than make it worse. They want to destroy people and see how long it takes them to do just that…It’s time to stop because it’s not right and we don’t need people to watch this stuff and think that behavior is okay. Just what we all need, the world turn into an even more ridiculous place.

I am very happy to see this notion. I think its insane how many paparrazi seem to swarm the stars. The Star are like us and need to be left to do their job!!! My Future husband is an actor too but I would NEVER push him to branch out to Hollywood or LA for any movie acting because of the Paparrazi!!
