Michelle Williams Speaks For First Time: 'My Heart Is Broken'

Michelle Williams is speaking out for the first time since the tragic death of Heath Ledger, the father of their two-year-old daughter, Matilda.

The heartbreaking statement reads:

"Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken. I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up in the best memories of him."

I was on Ambien and it made me hallucinate so I have a feeling the young actor was taking these to help sleep but mixed with something or not able you don’t think the medication is working and you take more. This is the deception I had and overdosed from this medication

I can’t remember 1 time that Heath put his dignity on the line like so many other celebrities have. Only as Sexiest man alive or very tastful shots in several magazines. He was a wonderful presence as far as putting himself out there! Michelle, Heath will always be with you and Matilda He seemed to absolutly adore his Daughter and that carries over to the afterlife! Embrace it. My heart goes out to you and yours!

I’m glad that Michelle Williams is reaching out to her fans in her darkest hour, not only on her behalf, but of her daughter Matilda. My heart goes out to the two people that Heath Ledger has left behind. Even the start of her latest movie has been pushed back. I see this as a smart movie.

I don’t at all agree that the paparazzi is right for doing the things that they do, and I am thankful every day I am not a celebrity and not chased by these maniacs. However, when is America going to realize that if the public would stop buying the magazines and rags these paparazzi fuel, they would let up? They are doing it because it makes money. I, like others, am saddened by Heath’s tragic passing, but the reason all of these drug rumors are circulating is because 1. he’s young and he died without explanation, 2. the autopsy came out inconclusive and we still haven’t seen any toxicology reports, and 3. he had several kinds of drugs in his room. Obviously people want to know what happened and will snap up any speculation. Thus, paparazzi is making money and will not stop. For those who complain about the paparazzi, maybe we should start a movement boycotting the publications; cut them off at the source and they will stop their madness.

I don’t know when a person’s death was allowed to be turned into a freak show. This is no longer journalism but sensationalism and predatory in the name of news. My God please respect the family’s privacy at this most tragic time in their lives. Let the family the dignity of putting Heath to rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to Michelle and Matilda. May your memories help you find your peace within and God bless.

I agree that the media needs to back off! Let Heath rest in peace and leave people alone! Since when did the media and the paparazzi turn so cruel??? I find it to be sick and not entertaining. It isn’t making this world a better place with how mean and crazy the paparazzi are towards innocent people! Since when did entertainment turn into psycho’s chasing the celebrities and seeing who can be the cruelest? I think the entertainment industry needs some new ideas cause it’s pathetic and the viewers, that have lives anyway, just don’t give a damn.

I agree with Stevie and Michelle-why can’t the media STOP all of the horrible stories about the drugs and partying-respect the family for pete’s sake-what the heck is wrong with these people that feel they need to broadcast all of this crap? If nothing else, think of his daughter-would you really want to be responsible for portraying a young person’s father in such a slimy light? I have to say, I was not a big fan of his, but I can’t believe the sensationalism that is surrounding this poor guys death and what his poor family is having to go through listening to all of this nonsense. Let him rest in peace and leave some dignity for his daughter to remember.

I think the pictures of Heath and his daughter say it all… he loved his baby and he was a good daddy. That is the legacy that should follow him.

I just wish ALL the media would let this extrodinary man rest in peace. As well as leaving his family & friends to grieve. And quit trying to tarnish his memory with things he may or may not have done. Leave well enough alone. This talented actor, loving father, son, & friend should be remember as that!!

It is a tragic loss to lose such a talented actor. I don’t understand why people need to bash someone after they have died. Whatever he did, where ever he did it needs to be thrown away. Let his family grieve in peace and let his beautiful daughter grow up and remember her daddy as a wonderful person. Let’s remember Heath for the wonderful, talented, beautiful person he was and still is!!!!!!!!!
