'Idol' Sends First Four Contestants Packing

The elimination process has begun.

Four contestants were sent packing from "American Idol" last night at the Kodak Theater: Garett Haley, Colton Berry, Joanne Borghella and Amy Davis.

All four contestants went out with a bang, singing the songs they competed with on this week's round of auditions.

But fond memories aren't the only thing Amy Davis will be leaving with.

She's currently heating up the pages of Maxim magazine in a bikini!

On her way out the door last night, Simon told Amy she "looked great, but didn't sound great." He also blasted plus-sized model Joanne, telling her that she made a "horrible song choice."

And despite comments Judge Cowell made about Garret needing a bit of fresh air, the mop-headed contestant assured Simon he won't be hitting the tanning beds, saying, "I am happy with who I am as a person."

Last night's result show didn't end without a little treat from Paula Abdul, though, as she debuted the world premiere of her first music video in the last decade, featuring Randy Jackson on guitar.

The track is featured on Jackson's new album, and the video ended with a freeze frame of Paula, Ryan her fellow "Idol" judges in a warm embrace.

america did a great job with kicking those people off, they did a good job, but not a great as some of the other contestants…David Archuleta was absolutly amazing last night and i love alexandrea lexington with the wheels spinning song great job guys!

hi there,, on american idol my favorite judges is randy and paula.. i wanted to see more of amy davis.. that was a shocker..

America made the right call about who to send packing. Michael Johns, David Archuleta, Robbie Carrico, David Cook, Amanda Overmyer, Brooke White, Carly Smithson, and either Kristy Lee Cook and/or Alaina Whitaker are the ones who must make the Top 12 in order for this season to rise above Season 6. When Ryan called Amanda down, I panicked, but I breathed a sigh of relief when he sent her back to safety. I think he deliberately called an obvious favorite to bring the tension level up.

The show was NOT at the Kodak Theater. Only the finale takes place there.

America made the right call about who to send home. There are at least six contestants who are destined for the Top 12. Fortunately, they are all safe this week. I got scared when Ryan called Amanda down, and breathed a sigh of relief when he sent her back to safety. I’m sure he deliberately chose an obvious favorite to get the tension up.

It is a crying shame that Colton Berry was voted off the show. I really wanted to see more of him. He isn’t the best of the top 24, but he certainly ranks at least in the middle of the pack. On top of that, he has a fascinating look that would be great in the movies. Maybe he should pursue another job as Simon said - in acting. The camera loves him.
