'Idol' Girls: Here Comes the Waterworks!

It was a river of pitchy tears last night on one the most dramatic shows so far of this season's "American Idol." The country said goodbye to four more not-as-talented hopefuls; Jason Yeager, Robbie Carrico, Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker. While the camera didn't feature him in the opening number, Danny Noriega was prominently featured as he cried over the latest departures - or was it because he was spared?

Simon Cowell had previously said that Alaina was a "dark horse" of the competition -- and the usually loquacious judge seemed at a loss for words. Also shocked - blonde Texan Kady Malloy, who looked as if she had already packed her bags, but was not bounced. Paula Abdul, never one to hide her emotions, consoled the bleary-eyed Alaina. "This is so embarrassing, I'm on live TV," Alaina sobbed to Ryan Seacrest while struggling to sing her final song. The formerly bubbly belle mustered up the guts to sing, after being joined onstage by the rest of the girls. Now that's good TV!

Former boybander Robbie Carrico's awkward rendition of "Hot Blooded" left the judges - and the audience - cold. Simon repeatedly told Robbie, 26, that he lacked authenticity, perhaps referring to reports that his flowing locks are nothing more than a prop from "Spinal Tap."

Did America make a mistake by giving Alaina the boot? Tell "Extra" who you think should have gone home.

I looked as shocked as Kady did when they announced that Alaina was going home! I truly believe a mistake was made. I feel strongly that Amanda should have been the one to go home. Is it possible there was an error in calculating the votes? They should bring Alaina back. I know it would be a first, but it would be the right thing to do just in case there was an error.

Alexadrea should’ve stayed. Amanda should’ve left. That’s all there is to it. It ticked me off.

the wrong one left-the woman leaving should have been Amanda. She was too much-too much hair, too much make up, too much goofy clothing and not a good song choice or a good job singing it. When you are trying to be the Idol you must please the American public and it is not a good idea to “express” yourself. She got very lucky!. But then there is only ONE winner and whenever you leave doesn’t matter and she won’t be the winner.

It’s so not true that these singers are “not as talented”. Alexandrea has so much more talent than some others who were spared. Alaina has an amazing voice; she just chose a song that was not right for her, and having a smaller fan base than some of the others (due mainly to less camera time)just didn’t net her the votes. Robbie was a favorite in the beginning, but the reports that he wears a wig must have disillusioned a lot of fans. Jason Y. has a great voice; he’s also a victim of underexposure, and as Simon said, good, but has trouble standing out of a crowd.
