That was Nimoy’s voice doing the “final Frontier” narration, wasn’t it? In the theater, I thought it was Patrick Stewart.
To Steve, that was the original transporter sound effect, not the communicator…

I saw the trailer for the new Star Trek movie right before the feature movie “Cloverfield.” it was great. i can’t wait to see the movie in December.

I am impressed by this very brief yet very stirring Trailer…As a first indication it does indeed look like JJ Abrams and crew “GET IT” and Star Trek Fans everywhere should be rejoicing that a new fresher retrofuture vision adventure based on Roddenberrys Universe will soon be part of realities universe…That sound effect from the original series sounds more like the sound effects they used in THE CAGE Pilot episode where Spock and Pike were hearing the noise which stopped when Spock touched the vibrating plant making it stop…or perhaps the sounds from THE GUARDIAN OF FOREVER…If the sound effect was Shorter it would have sounded like the original transporters…I think it is meant more to suggest the wind and the original series beginnings…oh yeh and Spock SMILED when he made the sound stop in the pilot! heheh…
