Hollywood in Outrage Over Alleged Heath Drug Tape

All of Hollywood is up in arms at "Entertainment Tonight" for attempting to air a video of Heath Ledger at a drug party two years ago on the Sunset Strip.

The tabloid show's sister program "The Insider" aired a preview of the video yesterday showing Heath at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. Though the show said the video doesn't show Heath doing drugs, they ran a clip of an unidentified man snorting cocaine. The video also shows a clip, allegedly of Heath, where he says, "I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years." He also talks about his daughter, Matilda Rose.

Now, amid outrage and disgust, the show has pulled the plug on the tape. "Out of respect for Heath Ledger's family, `Entertainment Tonight' and `The Insider' have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video that has been circulating in the world media," the show said today.

A statement from Heath's publicist, which spread like wildfire throughout Hollywood, blasted the show for "shameful exploitation of the lowest kind."

Heath still hasn't been laid to rest following his tragic death last week. Toxicology results are due in just days and could shed light on what caused his terrible passing.

ET used to be a classy show, but now it’s only a shameless TV rag. I’ve stopped watching it years ago in favor of Access Hollywood and Extra. To drag Heath’s name through the mud after his tragic death is deplorable.

If They Wanted To Show This Video Why Not Two Years Ago When It Happened Why Now? Cause He IS Gone They Sould Be Ashamed Of Them Selves!Leave Him Alone And Let Him Rest In Peace!!He Was A Good Actor, A Great Man, And A Loving Father! He Will Be Missed By All!

“Entertainment Tonight” and “the Insider” should be ashamed for making money off the tragic death of Heath Ledger. It sad that Ledger had to die a few weeks before the start of the February sweeps. ET is using his name and a tape from a few years ago just to make money and ratings. I’m glad I’m no longer watching “Entertainment Tonight.” It used to be a great show, but not anymore. I’d rather watch “Extra” and “Access Hollywood,” and “TMZ on TV.” Let’s respect the wishes of the Ledger family and Michelle Williams and Matilda and keep this awful tape off the air.

Yes it is a shame that this country’s focus is more on ‘celebrity’ opposed to the majority. I am sick of all the speculation on Heath too. What he did two years ago isn’t the cause of what happened. He seems like a regular joe to me because most of my friends and family have indulged at one point in their lives but due to their being just a run of the mill person, it’s not important to the rest of the world.
I also agree with what is happening in this country and the people losing their homes as another posted. How could the government allow such a travesty? Why is it that the help that Bush said would come to those are for those who aren’t at the point of losing their homes as a matter of fact they haven’t even been late in a payment……… how is this helping? It’s not. You are not allowed to be late once in 12 months according to the rules - if you are not late once in 12 months how are you in danger of losing your home?

I think ET and all the other’s should focus on the people who are losing their homes and actually make a difference in someone’s life FOR THE GOOD.
I understand that many are intrigued w/celebrities — but the human race, as a whole, should be more important.
I loved Heath’s films, I enjoyed him as an actor but I respect him and his family enough to turn off these programs that want to exploit. It is truly a sad America — to prey on those who cannot defend themselves and yet not even offer to aid those who truly need the publicity — those losing their homes due to this country allowing all the scam artists to run amuck. How many of your neighbors are living in fear of losing their home? Do you even know your neighbors? This country needs to wake up and realize that we only have each other and we need to be more aware of what is close to home — opposed to all the ‘hype’ these shows create to get ratings. What disgusts me the most is the lack of compassion to those who have worked their fingers to the bones to have a home and due to all these greedy brokers and financial institutes — these people lose everything. If their homes were cash — this would be grand theft in the courts eyes. This is real life —

I’ve done a lot of drugs in the past, but noone ever videotaped me doing it!! Atleast not that I know of. If any of you out there have such a tape then please let me know. I loved Heath’s movie roles. His death makes me sad. But I would like to know the truth. The truth may save someone else who isn’t dead yet! Thats one of the main reasons that I gave up the drugs. I watched my friends suffer & decided I didn’t want be a part of their & my own demise. I do think the majority of Americans spend too much time & money worrying about what the “popular” people are doing. Why not take those resources & make a better life for you & yours!? Enjoy the actor’s fruits, but give ‘em their space.—————Thanks.——JD

In the video Heath allegedly says he smoked five joints a day for the last twenty years. Since he was only twenty-six at the time the video was shot did he start “inhaling” at the age of six years? Also he is never shown actually doing any drugs on the video so what does it prove? Please let this young man rest in peace.

Most of the other celebrity mentioned are still alive and can defend themselves. Heath Ledger can’t plus since the “behind his back taken video” was taken exact 2 years ago - why was no ET or Insider or any other type of these shows interested so air it while Heath Ledger was alive - maybe that, in case he really has had a problem with drugs, would have forced him to break his silence about it.

I have a feeling because no one really knew why Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams broke up - because it was their personal business - now it is even more interesting to create another story ……”finaly we know what went wrong between this so picture perfect couple”…….

This is disgusting, dirt digging “journalism” - how can the person who sold the tape for, according to the press, US$ 200.000 look in the mirrow every day and even enjoy the “blood money”???

Heath Ledger was famouse, he took his fame without being the typical celebrity and I guess this is another reason why people - us the not famouse once - liked him even more. But in the first place he was a son, a brother, a friend, a partner and loving father and gifted human being. Thats what counts and thats for what his family and friends including his fans and people who are just recently became his fans will and should remember him.

Just think about, most of these people have much more real memory of him than his little baby girl and I think that saddens most of the people.

R.I.P. - Heath - you’ll be rememberd

Must we remember the bad?
Why can’t Heath be remembered for the good? Why trash his name when he’s no longer here to defend himself? Why must his family suffer becasue others want to show what was in the past? Respect his friends and family!!! Let him rest in peace and let his daughter grow up knowing he was the most wonderful person she never got to know.

Im very happy the way people are sticking up for heath and his family at this time. some people like too kick a dog when’s its down,
Im sure heath would be very happy the way people are defending him, The thing about him that you may not know is he never paid too much too what others said about him.
he said it came with the job, which is sad too say but true.
you see all these people know he is not here too defend his name so why not write what we want and see how far it goes?
His parents are upset for what is being told but like i said they know the real truth. i think what hurts the most and what people don;t get is this is there child, too them he isn’t a actor or a star he is their son.
All he ever wanted too do was make his family proud and he did so in so many wonderful ways.
In the months too come i told them this will all die down and there will be someone else on the chopping block if there isn’t one all ready.
He always said if you love me cool, if you don’t thats cool too. his life was his own who are we too judge one another if you do well then you have too live with it.
What ever heath did in the past is just that the past.
These people didn’t know him they are looking for there fame and choose too get it whatever way they can.
All i know is that he was a good old soul that will be very missed by his family and friends.
So let them write what they want about him because we know the truth and thats all that really matters.

It’s all news - the good, the bad and the ugly. It should all be reported, otherwise it’s censorship pressured by the powerful in Hollywood. I want to hear it all. That’s why we watch these entertainment shows. Let it all be aired. The shows should not be told or pressured on what to report or show!!It would certainly up the ratings and web searches. I for one want to see the tape and hear words from Heaths own mouth!! Not what everybody else thought or guessed about him.

I am very upset with all the media, not only for the Heath Ledger coverage but for the Brittany coverage, and the previous Anna Nicole coverage. Extra had the poor taste to say negative things about other shows and yet they run something horrible about Brittany every day! How dare you! Isn’t this the pot calling the kettle black?

Many that you trash on a daily basis are still alive and hopefully trying to get it together. Shame on all of you for making a profit from their sad lives and their deaths.

Think about it and hopefully try to change your ways. Report on positive things and not things that will destroy lives!

HE’S GONE SO NOW IT’S DISPICABLE TO SHOW THE REAL MAN, THE PARTIER, THE DRUG USER??????????SO MANT DOUBLE STANDARDS!

If we are not permitted to judge Heath Ledger, then we can neither deem him good or bad. We must be consistent. The only thing the general public knows FOR CERTAIN is that he was a skilled in the craft of acting. The story of his death has been manipulated both ways, the media are not the only ones guilty of misuse of power. As for what will be remembered, the legacy we leave our family is our integrity, transparency and character, if Heath lived with integrity (which includes the honesty to admit our weaknesses)it will give them strength that even the most vicious media attacks cannot diminish. If not, then it will be this that will cause them greatest grief, not the media. As for depression amongst actors, more harm is done by adoring and loyal fans who belive a powerful screen performance makes one “a wonderful person”. Heath, nor his family, need defending, they need our compassion. The best we can make of his death is to take the truth, once, or if ever revealed, and take heed of it for our own lives and the lives of our children.

You know, I cant really understand why we as human beings care so much about actors lives to the point where we have created this media frenzy monster. Why is it such a big deal what so and so’s baby looks like?? WHO CARES IF THEY WENT SHOPPING AT WALMART!! I mean for Gods sake…where else did you think these people were going to get the same supplies everyone else needs on a daily basis?? Its just some have more money to buy extra supplies. Heath Ledger was a damn good actor. I don’t know the guy personally, so why try to assume who he was?? Assumptions are the mother of all “@%$$^%^!! Acting is a job. WE all have them. Actors aren’t “special and amazing” perfect f*^(*&g beings… they are just people who deserve to be treated with the same respect and courtesy that we give everyone else. They deserve their privacy and personal lives left out of papers, and t.v shows, and websites. We don’t need to know that they were seen driving down Santa Monica Blvd with friends, eating ice cream. Dude, come on!! If we all just stopped feeding into the papers and gossip news, then these people could life normal lives! I can’t imagine how many celebrities we have pushed beyond their limits. How many celebrities we have made alcoholics, pill poppers, depressed, insane, rebellious and even suicidal! We are killing those we admire, respect, “love” etc etc. I guess what I’m trying to say is….treat people like people no matter what race, shape, size or income they have. I think we have all forgotten what it’s like just to be human.

SHAMEFUL AND IN IT’S POOREST TASTE. I WILL NOT WATCH ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT EVER AGAIN.

i think it was a disgusting thing for both the insider and et to do, out of respect for heath and his family they should have never gone there, he’s only been gone for about a week and he hasn’t even been laid to rest yet and already all this nonsense and crap is poping up everywhere, for god sake just leave him alone and let him rest in peace.
