Experts Say Britney Needs Help - Fast

It's the ending to the Britney Spears saga that no one wants to talk about: The possibility that the troubled young star is at the point of no return.

"Extra" is reaching out to two of the industry's most respected mental health clinicians, doctors Drew Pinsky and Keith Ablow, to weigh in on what Britney needs to do to recover from a series of breakdowns.

"I fear that there could be a really bad outcome here," said Ablow. "She needs a comprehensive plan and she needs confidentiality. She needs to be treated like a person, not a star."

For Fox News contributor Ablow, the Britney buck stops with mom Lynne, who he says must be a part of any recovery program.

"Here's the bottom line," said Ablow. "When your 16-year-old daughter is pregnant, and your older daughter is in a psychiatric facility and your grandkids don't seem well cared for, but you look pretty put-together, generally I start to look to the put-together person and say, 'I'd like to talk to you.'"

Ablow feels Brit should be weary of being pushed into the spotlight even more.

"That should be like a looking glass for her," he said. "She should say, 'Have they ever been purely interested in me as a child, as a young woman, as a developing person, or have I always been a commodity to them in part?' That could be the beginning of a walk toward the truth for her."

Pinsky says something needs to be done before it's too late.

"If she doesn't begin to turn it around in the next two to four weeks, I would say you're going to see her on a ventilator in an ICU somewhere," he says.

He added, "It looks as if we're watching an Anna Nicole Smith type case revolve in real time."

So can Britney be saved?

"Even with intensive treatment in a hospital environment, followed by, say, a year of residential treatment - which is the minimum of what she needs - her chances are sort of 50/50 of a sustained recovery," says Pinsky. "Without treatment, her survival is really in question."

It’s really sad in this day and age that we still don’t recognize mental illness. I’ve read some of the letters people have written about Britney Spears and I wonder what they would say if she had cancer or another disease rather than mental illness. My question tosome of these ignorant people is how do you expect someone who is not thinking rationally to make a rational decision on her health? I agree there are many people out there whose families would love to get help for theirloved ones in need but don’t have the resources or the financial backing and Britney does so someone needs to do something drastic if it will cost you any of her inheritance than so be it but do SOMETHING already! ! !

Alright, so isn’t it about time that we start focusing on the more important things in life, so what now Britney needs help because of a mental disorder and yet with all of her finances she refuses to seek help or treatment, and then people expect me to feel sorry for her. Well guess what, I am more concerned about the millions of others in this world that don’t have the means or the medical help to have thier problems diagnosed. Did it maybe occour to anyone that maybe there are more important things. How about all of the people with out health care that can’t afford the cost of medications for their dissorders. If she’s not willing to get help then just leave her alone to her own devices, there are plenty of people in this world who really need help and would be more than greatfull to recieve it. She’s a spoiled little girl the less we talk about her and her life the better.

Does anyone really blame this young woman for losing faith and trust in people?

Everyone seems to have sold her out even if not publicly, behind the scenes - providing fuel for the fire to further push her to the edge.

The “if we cannot participate in your wealth and success, then we’ll help destroy you & make sure you lose it” syndrome is alive & well in Hollywood.

Strangely, many on t.v think that hounding Britney will force her to see the value in utilizing the services of “handlers” - publicists, managers and self-serving media-hogs and publicity hungry pseudo- professionals like Pinsky, Ablow etc.

But I like many observers understand why this young woman would refuse to be held ransom by these potentially vindictive and flawed people who when they can no longer wield power over you will turn retaliatory, utilizing information they have by virtue of their previous association with you to attempt to destroy you. Who can forget how her former manager tracked down Ryan Seacrest to tell him he was in hiding avoiding Federline’s people who were looking to serve him? Because as he put it, he had potentially damaging information which if forced to testify he would have to divulge. How subtle & classy! And remember the “concerned” bodyguard who was fired after 2 long months who hired the media-shy Gloria Allred and made the rounds on television?

None of these folks care about Britney; even now this poor girl continues to be exploited and continues to represent an opportunity for others to further their own agenda’s and self-propel.

I hope the women on Extra never find themselves in this sort of sticky, tricky hormonally charged situation compounded by a bloodthirsty ex determined to access your money by destroying you with the help of blood hound attorneys (who employ publicists by the way!) all of which you are forced to pay for.

Shame on you and your fickle, pandering, unimpressive, mercenary group of “expert” pseudo-professionals who use their air time to self-promote through propaganda and unverified “diagnoses” of people they’ve never even met! They use the media to fight personal vendettas and have relentlessly lashed out at this young woman with their mean-spirited jabs and ridiculous analyses and predictions while kid- gloving the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Tom Cruise,Katie Holmes etc. all in the name of this new “media for hire” trend:

If a celebrity kisses our arses or appears too powerful to take on, we put out positive stories and spin news in their favor.

Your viewers really do see through all your biased crap and we are all truly sick of it!

Wow where do you start with Britney? She seems to be on a self destruct mode, and until that changes nothing else matters.

Maybe these problems were under the surface for many years and they were hidden.

There seems to be a real problem with her family, especially the Mother Lynne. She seems to have no problem selling her daughters for all she can get.

Here Britney is in the hospital, and she is posing next to the headstone of her sister who passed away. Maybe she should get a reality check?

Drs are right it starts with the family, but doubt if that will ever happen until it is too late.

I thnk she has bi-polar disorder. There will have to be a dramatic change in her life or otherwise she is bound to crash and burn.

She is not a monster. She is sick. People need to have compassion. Yes she is rich, and has everything but she is still a human being. She needs help. She obviously has a mental illness. What a sick world we live in that people want to profit off her sickness rather than help her. Shame on everyone!

Why do we even care? There are starving children in Africa. Brittney has more money than she will ever need for her and her kids whole lives. Get over it and grow up.

She is a very talented girl but still just a girl who had lots of friends when touring and recording and money rolling. when the chips were down no one stayed behind to be a real friend or mentor to show her how to grown into a woman. Now we have this out of control gril with lots of money and a broken heart. I hope she leaves hollywood and finds a place to help her get clean, get her life together and GROW UP to handle the pressures of popstar lifestyle if she ever can or maybe she will take her money and go to a quiet town and raise her kids (if she gets straighten out)
