Brit's Former Bodyguard: 'Anywhere Is Better Than Mom's House'

Last Thursday, Tony Baretto sat glued to the TV set watching his former boss being lifted into an ambulance.

Now Britney Spears' former bodyguard and the man who sparked her bitter custody battle with Kevin Federline over accusations of drug use is speaking out to "Extra," admitting that he saw last week's breakdown coming.

"I've seen it before," said Baretto, "and it's quite terrifying because you don't know how to react to it."

As he watched the drama unfold, he said he knew "it was just a matter of time. It was just unfortunate that the kids were there."

Britney, 26, was strapped to a gurney and wheeled to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a mental evaluation after an emotional standoff with police. The troubled star had refused to hand Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, back to Kevin Federline for their arranged custody schedule. Just a day later, Britney was out of the hospital, reportedly against her family's wishes, smiling for the cameras again.

However, Baretto knows all is not right with the star.

"There's something that needs to be fixed with Britney," he said. "A bodyguard can't do it. An assistant can't do it. And Britney, obviously, can't do it alone."

Now he said he's genuinely concerned about her mental state, having seen firsthand the chaotic environment inside the Spears home.

"She happy, she's walking around the house, and then all of a sudden she's crying and it's gotten as bad as her screaming," he said.

There are reports that Britney is suffering from an undiagnosed bipolar disorder or some other mental condition. A judge has labeled her a frequent and habitual drug and alcohol user.

As for Baretto, "I've always said that it was a mixture of both," he said. "The times that I've seen her use narcotics maybe made her condition worsen. I think definitely she's got some kind of mental problem."

Now, as Britney is stripped of visitation rights and she's seen without family members by her side, Baretto fears she may be a suicide risk.

"There's been a couple of times where I felt that way," he admitted. "With Britney it's a day by day thing. One day she looks absolutely fine, and the next day it's completely chaotic."

Those wild mood swings have Baretto fearful for her boys.

"I think anywhere is safer than mom's house, unfortunately," he confessed.

Sadly, he doesn't expect Britney to change any time soon.

"We will never tell her what to do," he said. "Her parents can't control her, the judge can't control her, nobody can control her. She does what she wants to do. There's nobody that can tell her what to do."

I wonder just how much burger king money this model of self-control received to still be able to spew his ‘observations’. It’s people like that, who become catalysts for the unstable celebs to really go off the deep end. Everyone around Ms. Spears has a theory, a ‘diagnosis’ - but no one who’s opened their pie-hole has anything close to a caring solution.

This man should just go away! Why on earth is Extra still giving him airtime and fueling the fire with his vindictive & destructive rhetoric.
What exactly is to be gained by having this man rehash his Gloria Allred prepared stories, undoubtedly embellished to make for good chatter?
Please lay off this young woman - Enough already!

OK I have a real problem with this bodyguard. Did he not say in court that HE NEVER SAW BRITNEY USE DRUGS !!! but saw drugs around her. NOW here he says he seen her doing drugs.WHICH IS IT.? Mr Bodyguard who leFT those kids in the house for months without calling the proper authories. Why don’t you continue watching BRITNEY from afar, because In my OPINION, you only spoke up to make MONEY. nothing more nothing less. and now your speaking out for more money. How pathetic. sleep good at night

She’s human and like everybody else is not perfect and makes mistakes.
If everyone spent half the time judging themselves instead of Britney, half the population would be ordered to a mental hospital too…

You can’t “mislabel” a train wreck. The wreckage speaks for itself. BS fans have got to come to terms with the fact that she is SICK!!!! Calling someone names just because they tell their story says a lot about what kind of fans she has. The judge shouldn’t let the boys see her until she decides to get some help. There are plenty of stories in the news of parents who kill their children because they wanted to hurt the other parent. I hope we never have to read that kind of story about those babies.

I thought we had seen the last of this clown. I wonder how much he was paid for this interview? Thanks to him, Brit got mislabeled a “frequent and habitual drug and alcohol user.” We now know this is not the case. Does Brit have problems … of course. But leeches like him only compound the problem and make it less likely that she can find people she can trust and who will help her without cashing in on it.

If she could just take the medication then there would be a balance of some kind. I lived with someone for years with the same issues. JUST TAKE THE MEDS AND TALK WITH A THERAPIST!!!
