Bindi Irwin on Dad Steve: 'I Believe in Angels'

Aussies Terri and Bindi Irwin are taking America by storm, and "Extra" was their first stop to promote Australia Week here in the U.S. And despite the tragic passing of beloved "Crocodile Hunter" Steve, the two have not dulled their enthusiasm for wildlife conservation.

Since Steve's death in 2006, Bindi Irwin has kept his legacy alive by traveling the world and supporting his Wildlife Warrior Program. When asked if Bindi thinks her dad is proud of her, she responded, "I hope so. I'm trying my very best."

She continued, "I do have a lot of dreams about him. I believe in angels. I really do think we need to carry on his message."

Bindi isn't the only one who constantly feels her father's presence. "At home, we live at the Australian Zoo so it's all things Steve," Terri said. "I think there's a little bit of Steve guiding us along."

The Irwins told "Extra" that singing superstar Kylie Minogue will be honored as part of G'Day USA: Australia Week event in Los Angeles. "Kylie has made such wonderful contributions to Australia, and Kylie and Bindi are about the same size," joked Terri. Speaking of music, Bindi admitted she's a fan of all genres, saying, "I listen to pretty much anything, from country music to rock and roll."

When asked if Terri has any advice for Britney Spears, she said, "Bindi's the one who said, 'People who are having trouble should go in the bush with us when we do our crocodile research work,' and if Britney and her family want to go in the bush with us, we'd love to have them."

Dear Bindi,
I am in year 7 at the Peninsula School in Victoria. As part of year 7 every one is required to research a person that is notable. I have chosen you as my notable person because of your inspiring work that you have done towards Australian wildlife. Could you please send me some information in regard to what you have done towards Australian wildlife as I have not been able to find much information.

Kind regards
Poppy Goodrich

Please right back.

p.s very sorry about your dad he would be proud of you

Hello Terri, Bindi,& Robert, I think that Steve was an angel here on earth & now he is an angel in heaven. He has watched over & took such good care of all his animals here on earth. Now he is still watching over them from heaven. He has all 3 of you to help lead everyone else to keep our animals safe including their environments. We loved your Zoo last April,2007. WE are planning to come back. We both loved it there. We missed Bindi singing at the gate the weekend before we went there. We had 2 friends that went there before we went & it was the weekend that Bindi was singing at the gate with one of her friends. We missed them the following weekend. We asked around for you, but you weren’t there. It is so beautiful there. We love you all & hope to see you there next time. We have alot of pictures from there & we share them with others to let them know how wonderful your zoo really is. We love you.

Dream Your Dreams

Close your eyes little one
Close your eyes and dream
You can be anyone,
Anyone you dream
You can go anywhere,
do anything,
meet anyone
Just close your eyes and dream your dreams
Let your imagination take control
Take you on adventures never told
Just close your eyes little one
Close your eyes and dream with me
You can fly above the mountains
You can swim beneath the sea
Its a great big world before us
Come along and dream with me
You can swing from every tree top
You can conquer every fear
There’s no need to be frightened
You’re not alone here in your dreams
Just open up your mind and let your dreams flow through
ts a great big world around us
Come on along and dream with me
Sweet dreams my little one

Bindi keeping dreaming hun and yes there’s a little bit of Steve guiding many along.

As one who rescues and provides a home for abandoned animals I admire the Irwins and the work they do. They are shining stars in a world where wildlife as well as domestic animals need all the care and consideration we can give them. Bindi and Terri draw attention to the needs of those we humans often abuse and displace and they do it with grace, honesty and integrity. The world is a better place for them being in it.

Hi Terri and Bindi,
I hope that you get this message.
We have just finished a book that will be published for next fall entitled “Equine Angels: Foals Touching Souls”. It is not only about the rescue of baby horses from slaughter, but how they lift up the families that come to adopt them. As you can imagine, we have many great stories and incredibly thoughtful photographs of the foals at birth and with their new families. It would mean so much to the foals and the future rescues if you could write a short foreword about rescue, horses or insight into why we should help animals. Our motto has become “rescues rescue us” and we see it happen all along the rescue path. We hope that you will join the other Angels in helping these horses. You inspie many people, including us. Also all proceeds from the book go to Equine Angels Rescue Sanctuary (EARS) a non-profit charity. www.foalrescue.com Thanks so much for reading this note.
Warmest Blessings, Frank Weller, president EARS

I’m a high school science teacher in New England. All of my students not only watched Steve, but were really sad about his passing. That means that Steve reached an audience that few conservationists are able to reach. It’s so hard to get the conservation message across to teenagers, but he brought science out of the abstract and made it real, exciting, and “touchable”.

I miss him very much, but I’m glad that you both are continuing his work. Best wishes to both of you.

I thought we could ask questions too.
Terri, Bindi, Robert, Wes, & Bob Sr. I want to let you know we are soooooo proud of you for keeping the dream alive. Terri, I think you’re a GREAT role model & I’m proud to look up to you. Don’t stress out so much, you look like you need a trip to the bush to get away from things for a while.
Remember how much you all are loved by ppl all over the world.

My son Aidan was playing with his Steve Iriwin action figure and we looked up at the tv and saw you and your mom! My son is 4 years old and is the same age as your brother Robert! We hope that all is well and we keep your family and Wild Life Warriors in our prayers! Aidan wishes to be a Wild Life Warrior and he also would someday love to come to Australia Zoo! We enjoy watching “Bindi the Jungle Girl” very much and love learning how to save our enviorment and habitat for all animals! Have lots of fun during Australia week!
