People's Choice Awards Revamped

The People's Choice Awards ceremony is being revamped in the midst of the writers strike.

As "Extra" first reported, plans to televise some form of the show on CBS on Jan. 8 are scheduled but no press is allowed and no red carpet.

Queen Latifah will act as "host" for the pre-recorded show, which will include acceptance speeches from winners via video. Winners will also answer questions emailed by fans, and there will be no live audience.

The ceremony is the first to be affected by the WGA strike.

"Obviously, we realized there are pressing issues facing the entertainment industry," said show spokeswoman Jeannie Tharrington. "Out of respect for all the people involved, we decided we would use this opportunity to use a new format."

I stumbled across this this show and watched about 45 minutes. I liked that it wasn’t dragged out, with every award, by a minute of applause and girls screaming at their favorites. But, I couldn’t believe how dull actors are without writers. That kid has been on 2 and a Half Men for 5 years…. and he cant tell a joke because the writers are on strike? How dumb was I to think that the actors wrote their acceptance speeches themselves, from their hearts.
and the guy who held up cards for us to read…. then insults us by saying, “Are you people crazy?”
I’m glad I’m not into the whole Hollywood fan thing, I’d have been very disappointed and would never watch again. I’ve never watched in the first place, so I see I’m not going to be missing anything. T.V. and Movies have gone down hill in the past 30 years,
and there’s nothing worth wasting my
money on seeing anyway.

This was so awful and if they don’t return it to an acutal award show for next year then it should be cancelled. I know I will never watch or vote for it again.

Let me just say…I think that the writers and the actors could have come together for the Peoples Choice Awards. Without the “People” these actors and writers would not be able to put food on the table and pay the bills.

Thank you for keeping the show in the line up out of respect….but this was really to me a slap in the face.

I enjoy entertainment to get away from my busy everyday life, but at this point maybe actors and writers need to stop being so selfish and accept the millions they make and be happy.

Us “people” who make less than $100,000 a YEAR yet manage to give the actors AND writers a portion of our checks every week would really like an actual award show that is voted by us to be nice.

I just don’t think thats much to ask. However, in the end they gave us a show like this????

Just plain crap.

This was possibly one of the worst things I have seen. I am all about support for the writers… but wow this was bad.
