Donda West's 911 Tape

"Extra" has obtained the 911 call made after Kanye West's mother, Donda, was found unresponsive in her home.

In the tape, an unidentified woman is heard crying, "She's having a heart attack...she complained she couldn't breathe."

As the 911 operator asks questions, the caller pleads for Donda to wake up and says, "We're trying to do CPR on her."

Donda died Nov. 10 following multiple surgeries by Dr. Jan Adams. Adams has maintained that he did nothing wrong.

An autopsy report is pending.

My Heart is with the ones who lost a soul - this is why it is so important to research people, because a life that should have never been lost was. It is a shame that in this day and age people feel like they are able to operate on any one for a buck !!!!

…and one other thing, unless you’ve been in a life or death situation how dare you critisize how these women “didn’t listen”. Do you KNOW how YOU will respond during an emergency? Have you HAD to? Have you been there? Then don’t pick apart how they handled this.

It is truely a shame that the mongrels of the media world dig this stuff up and post for the world to see/ hear. It’s a private, horrifying moment that no one but those who experienced it should have had to hear.

Hiding behind the “it’s available to the public” stance is cowardice.

Can I just say that I am of a mixed opinion. I agree that this audio clip should not have been made available to the public as it is not something for entertainment…..it is a life being lost. As for the first comment, I do not think the 911 Operator was rude at all, it is a known fact that should a brain be lacking in oxygen for a long period of time, then the persons life may not be worth living should they even survive. He was being firm to get the attention of the caller who was clearly frantic and as you can hear, he did not yell at her in an agressive way, a beings life was depending on the instructions he was giving. It is a hard job to sit on the other end of the phone and attempt to save someone’s life and calm others when you know that unless you are heard, the situation may end badly, in which case this one did. I have no doubt in my mind that whether CPR was performed in 8 seconds or 8 minutes that she still would have passed, but please let this be a lesson to everyone, that even in the worst moments such as the related one, please try and keep calm and give the person every chance at being revived or saved. Please also remember that 8 minutes may seem like a long time when you are in desperation and need an ambulance immediately but I live 30minutes away from the closest hospital and if I need an ambulance as a matter of emergency, I need to remember that a person is driving and can only go as fast as they can, keeping themselves safe too. It would be a miracle if an ambulance arrived to my house in that time. As for the “Extra”, although I am in a way glad that I have heard this audio clip, I cannot imagine how Kayne feels about the world hearing the panic around his Mothers final moments and may she rest in peace.

What are you talking about? The 911 operator was very calm and trying to be helpful. It’s her family that are screwed up.

i dont know where to begin! Why did it take the ambulance 8+ minutes to get there?! The family is totally distraught and cant take control of the situation. The 911 guy is rude!!! UGH!!!! Obviously if she was in a hospital bed WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY BE CALLING 911?!?!?!

Okay, so this is a private moment of trauma which has gone public. So in that way its bad that it got out.

But, there are valuable lessons here! I guess I’d always assumed, 911 was just for reporting an incident, I never thought that they’d talk you through cpr. I doubt that the people who made the call really understood that either.

Also, it demonstrates the importance of leadership in a situation like this. The person with the phone has to be the leader, otherwise the 911 operator is powerless to help. You’ve got to get everyone else to be quiet and listen.

A tragic call, surely they don’t go much worse, but it might save someone else’s life one day.

I am wondering if and when possible ANY PERSONS from Extra will submit the 911 calls if ever their loved one is dying???? Its amazing what the Media will do for ratings and a paycheck. TRULY AMAZING…. Bless you all. I hope this NEVER has to happen to you.

I am a person of color and I did not see this as a racial issue. I did not read all of the comments, but was taken aback by the mean, spirited comments made. I do not blame the operator, even though he was cold in the beginning. I do wonder why he did not ask to speak to someone else in the room. The women were in a panic. (heartbreaking & frustrating to hear) Why did I listen??? I was curious about her last moments. Did she place the call? etc… I have not seen death close up and don’t know how I would react. Do you???? I hope we all learn from this, I did… Stay calm and listen, you just MIGHT save a life.
***GOD BLESS and I hope we can come together (all races). I PRAY!!!***

As a registered nurse, this is appalling. Wasn’t she being cared for by nurses? Unbelievable. Tragic. The people with Dr. West would never have saved her as panicked as they were-her brain went so long without oxygenated blood. You don’t continually ‘get ready to start’ CPR. What a terrible tragedy. A learning opportunity for those of you out there who may be in an emergent situation, try your hardest to remain calm!

I happen to be a very big producer in Hollwood. I will see to it that there are severe consequences and reprecussions for “Extra” and its staff. How crass and inappropriate.

EXTRA … how can you possibly believe it is appropriate to televise this 911 tape? A family death is a tremendous and extraordinary personal tragedy. This was incredibly tasteless and frankly I am ashamed of you for putting this out there for public consumption. It is one thing that you provide titillating, albeit frivolous, information about “stars”, but to continually display abysmal manners in producing ‘everything’ about public figures is beyond forgiveness.

Ok I am really sad now. What we really need to understand as people is that in life we all deal with things differently. Even in traffic people make poor judgemnets that can kill people. But the person there who was trying to help wow! I think that if you were to do CPR it’s not 100% but at least if they were trying, well thats on yourself (pride) knowing you tried your hardest , But, as you all heard..That’s on that person and God? Who knows at this point what was meant to be. I know I wouldn’t want that peorson on my side!

Wow, I can’t believe it took these idiots that long to listen to the poor guy and try to help this woman. By the time they started any assistance she was long gone. Ridiculous!

I find it rather pathetic that people are criticizing how the situation was handled. Maybe CPR might’ve saved her life if it was done correctly and in a timely manner. But I don’t think everyone here knows how to do it do they? I took a course in CPR in high school. And guess what? I failed. I admit it. I didn’t become certified. Some people have never even taken a course. Imagine yourself performing it on another person. Your perspective changes when it’s actually YOU in the situation. Your disrespectful comments show what little compassion YOU have for the living [Kanye] or the dying [Donda].

And as for Extra, I find it utterly ruthless of you to post such personal and emotional things like this. Let a family grieve for once without making it public. There’s a line to draw when it comes to celebrities [anyone, really], and death is one of them.
Next thing you know they’re gonna start digging up the body for shock-value pictures. Pathetic on your behalf.

RIP Dr. West.

It took 6 minutes for that woman to listen and start CPR. Her life could have been saved had they started sooner!! Dr. West’s death is a tragedy & it’s amazingly horrible how Extra found this recording and even more that they posted it.

Hmmmm for starters, all you people on here complaining about this 911 call being on here, didn’t you just sit there & listen to it? So stop being so damn hypocritical. Of course people are going to want to listen to it, they want to know what happened to Kanye’s mother. Exactly the reason why you would’ve clicked on the link to listen to it, am I right? Yes the hell I am. Now for another, that operator does not need to get fired, he did his job. And I really hope he doesn’t get sued for that. He helped as much as he could in the circumstance of those women not listening to him at first. He was trying to be calm with the situation, I mean how would you react if even the operator was in a panic? So don’t go blaming him, he did his best. The 2 women may have been stupid for not listening at first, but they were also very scared & just wanted to save her as well. You can not blame anyone for this, no one dies before their time, when it’s your time to go, then it’s your time. No one can change that except God himself. So do not put the blame on anyone else. Let’s put it this way, if she didn’t die of that, it could’ve been something else, like a car accident or anything. So let’s drop the blame game & just leave it at that. I think it’s a good thing they aired this, whether she was famous or not. I mean, do you complain when you hear 911 calls on the news/radio? No, the only reason you’re complaining now is because she is a celebrities mother. This call should actually help people to realise that they need to be more alert & calm in those sorts of situations. Anyway, that’s all I got to say on the matter, continue on with your moronic comments & your ignorant attitudes.
