Donda West's 911 Tape

"Extra" has obtained the 911 call made after Kanye West's mother, Donda, was found unresponsive in her home.

In the tape, an unidentified woman is heard crying, "She's having a heart attack...she complained she couldn't breathe."

As the 911 operator asks questions, the caller pleads for Donda to wake up and says, "We're trying to do CPR on her."

Donda died Nov. 10 following multiple surgeries by Dr. Jan Adams. Adams has maintained that he did nothing wrong.

An autopsy report is pending.

The operator sounded aggravated because he was trying to help these people save this womans life and they were not listening. I understand that they were in shock but fear goes out the window when your trying to save a life. Whatever it is that came out of her mouth did not determine that she was dead it was the time wasted without listening to the professional help that did it. With all the money that her son have an operation like that should not have been a time to be cheap or ignorant to the precautions that needed to be taken to have a successful procedure. Numerous parties were wrong but you cant change time, whats done is done. All you can do is pray for the family and hope that others who want to surgically alter what GOD has given us be more aware.

I can’t believe I just heard this! The operator did his job as he was trained. The woman on the phone was not listening at all. I believe that if she would have listened she may have been able to save Vonda.

these women are idiots! If they were calling for help then they should’ve listened instead of talking to each other. Kanye needs to sue them for killing his mother

It disgusts me to hear peple throwing around the racial card. When the caller asked for what the emergency was, he did not ask if the caller was black or white. It is frustrating to listen to this call- they called 911 for HELP and didn’t even listen. Thankfully I haven’t been in this situation and pray that I never will, and its sad and unfortunate these women were, but LISTEN! They called for help and didn’t LISTEN! I felt BAD for the 911 Operator. I myself was screaming at my computer screen for these women to PAY ATTENTION and LISTEN. He was not rude in any manner, he was trying his best to do his job given the situation. May Dr West rest in peace.

The operator did everthing he could do he tried to get the lady to listen to him and she was to busy listening to people behind her. I have had to call 911 for my father who was having a stoke. The only person I wanted to hear was the person that was going to give me the life saving advice to help me help my father. I feel so sorry Mr. West and his family. Anyone hearing this can tell the operator did all he could do. There is no race issue here, the person who saved my father was a white women cop who help my mother and I before the ambulance came. Please lets not use the race card.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, DONDA SHOULD HAVE RECOVERED IN THE HOSPITAL AROUND TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. SINCE THAT WAS’NT POSSIBLE SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER SUPPORT TEAM WITH HER TO INCLUDE A PHYSICIAN, MONEY WAS NOT AN ISSUE SO WHY DID SHE CUT CORNERS????
FOURTH, THE CALLER SHOULD HAVE LISTENED CAREFULLY TO THE DISPATCHER. LAST BUT NOT LEAST WE MUST REMEMBER OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED, WHEN YOUR NUMBER IS UP NOTHING CAN SAVE YOU. GOD GENTLY WHISPERED HER NAME AND SHE ANSWERED.
WITH ALL RESPECT, MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.

you have to understand… if someone is dying in front of you, you would be very nervous because you know that their life is on the line. so everything you are being told is going in one ear and out the other. so for you people to say how dumb is this person…remember you’d be in complete and total shock as well.

For ALL who feel 911 operator did not handle this well. He did all he could to get the lady to listen. She was in panic and all of the other too. There was to many people trying to explain what to do. They should just listen. The operator should had ask to speak to someone else. He did try to be as calm as he could. He did a good job. When your love ones in in a life death moment, lot of people panic. For the future, everyone should listen to the 911 operator. Always stay calm. Listen. Listen. Listen and Listen. He asked was she in a hospital bed to determine how he would explain to do CPR. Where you is laying mean a lot on how to do it. So for all, learn from this and not criticise.

Ms West died because she placed her life in the hands of a bunch of idiots. She can afford to have the best of care and instead choose not to. As far as im concerned, choosing not to go with pro medical advice and having idiots take care of her tells me she choose to die.

To KahunaTuna,
I too listened to this. And I am beyond surprised that you feel in any way the operator being “prejudice” to blame for anything. That is baffling to me. I HAVE been in that situation before with my OWN father and let me tell you I listened to every word the 911 operator said. I made sure the room was quiet enough so I could hear him. And though I was in a state of absolute panic I listened to the EXPERT and did not put my trust in a family member giving the wrong medical advice. This whole thing is a tragedy. My heart breaks for this family. I too lost my father that day. Despite my efforts. He was only 52 years young. But please for the love of God don’t put the race card in this. The operator is only human and was frustrated that though he was doing everything in his power to help he was being overshadowed by panic sticken people. Very understandable… but not racial. Rest in Peace.

the operator needed to ask the womans name and use it to draw her back into the call and get her attention.

Wow! Hearing this tape gives me mixed feelings about the whole situation, Mrs. West was supposed to have had a family member that was an RN watching over her…… That clearly wasn’t the case. Family members that were present obviously were in shock and tried everything they thought were good ideas at the time. I’m sure looking back they would do everything different! The poor operator was just doing his job. What I think people fail to realize is that he’s human…. Just think about how frustrating that must have been, he understood the circumstances! He needs to be calm and in control.
Personally, I feel Mrs.West should have gone to a after-care facility. She could afford it and I think it would have been a better alternative.
I wonder what the family feels hearing this tape??
Oh BTW….YES, this tape is the price of fame! No I don’t think it’s right but….. What can you do?!? If it offends you don’t listen and don’t read. My condolences to the West family, this is a sad situation. It also reminds people to listen and pay attention, it can save your life or maybe someone else!

Again, the lady died in front of their faces, before they even picked up the stupid phone; they were in a state of shock…why can’t you guys understand that! to them, this was not the mom of a superstar; this was someone that they really, really loved. And she must of loved them, too; that’s why they were there, so why not respect her final wishes by ceasing to “cut” them up with cruel, and heartless statements.

It sounds as if the people who called 911 are not even sure what is happening? Are they humans or aliens? they sound like they are high or something. the despatchers are trying to do their best evidently. They are getting frustrated because they are not listening to what the despatcher is trying to tell them. How frustrating, when you are trying to save a life and no-one is listening to you until it is too late! I understand that they are panicking, however WHY WON’T THEY LISTEN!

Another thing; it was off the wall of him to ask if she was in a hospital bed. The more I hear of that tape, the ruder and nastier he sounds!

THE OPERATOR WAS SO VERY CONDESCENDING. IF YOU LISTEN TO THE TAPE MORE CAREFULLY, YOU’LL REALIZE THAT THE LADY ANSWERED THREE TIMES, (“SHE’S NOT BREATHING”). HE HAD THE NERVE TO RAISE HIS VOICE AT HER TO ACCUSE HER OF NOT LISTENING, YET IT APPEARS AS IF HE HAD WAX IN HIS OWN EARS, OR ELSE WHY DID HE KEEP ASKING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. AND YES, IF HE FELT HE WAS MISUNDERSTOOD, HE SHOULD HAVE ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE. I THINK OTHERS NEED TO OPEN THEIR MINDS AS TO HOW THIS CALL REALLY WENT DOWN; IT’S SO UNFAIR TO BLAME THIS WOMAN’S POOR LOVED ONES FOR PANICKING. THE BLACK STUFF SHE THREW UP WAS ACTUALLY BLOOD; THEY KNEW IN THEIR HEARTS THAT SHE WAS GONE; THEY SAW THEY’RE LOVED ONE DIE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM, BUT THEY JUST COULDN’T BELIEVE IT WAS HAPPENING. HOW WOULD YOU REACT IF IT WERE YOU? I THINK SHE WAS ALOT MORE COMPOSED THAN MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE. THE OPERATOR WAS NOT REALLY HELPFUL, THAT’S WHY SHE HUNG UP SO QUICKLY WHEN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. HE SHOULD HAVE INSTRUCTED HER TO DEMAND QUIET IN THE ROOM; BUT HE WAS TOO BUSY TRYING TO SUPPORT HIS PREJUDICE BELIEF THAT HE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH A DUMB BLACK LADY. HE WAS COLD, UNSYMPATHETIC, AND UNPROFESSIONAL; THE GUYS A JERK! MAY DR. WEST REST NOT IN PEACE…BUT, IN PARADISE!
