Donda West's 911 Tape

"Extra" has obtained the 911 call made after Kanye West's mother, Donda, was found unresponsive in her home.

In the tape, an unidentified woman is heard crying, "She's having a heart attack...she complained she couldn't breathe."

As the 911 operator asks questions, the caller pleads for Donda to wake up and says, "We're trying to do CPR on her."

Donda died Nov. 10 following multiple surgeries by Dr. Jan Adams. Adams has maintained that he did nothing wrong.

An autopsy report is pending.

kanye my prayers are with you and your family it is hard enough trying to cope with this but to have it be put on display like this is ridiculous.

Everyone wants to analize the “What if’s “. The honest opinon is this God has the power to show us who is in FULL control, unfortunaly it was her time, However Miss West death may be in not in vain perhaps it sheads light on this doctor’s procedures had it gone unnoticed then other’s might have lost their lives also. God works in amazing ways and although it may not always be as clear and understanding to us.I just don’t get the lack of respect, the media has numbed us to the point that we have yet to draw the boundry line! We have to do more. When the argument here should clearly be “Why in the hell do we let the media take control?” This is ridiculous way do we need to hear this lady’s 911 tapes. There is a lack of privacy, not only to her and her family but us too! Who would want their mothers’ or loved ones 911 tape(s)on for public display? I stand by my statement before and agree with some others, like kierod28 Will the media every draw the line?

I think if we need to identify a wrongdoing in hearing this tape, it should have been played publically. What is gained by listening to the last breath of a woman dying and the two women desperately trying to save her life. It tells me that everyone should have a lesson in CPR.

ok, yeah i must admit this is pretty wrong putting the call on the internet for everyone to see. it’s a hard time for kanye an dhis family an dhtis isn’t helping. he’s in my prayers. but it’s sort of hard not to blame the lady talking. she’s not responding to the operator, not taking orders right and she said HAWH? like 56 times through the whole voice. She’s not listening to him. It’s like yeah she’s dying but if you shut up an dlisten to the man you could save her.

Its a shame that everyone’s pointing a finger at someone. Everyone needs to take a step back and think of the situation. The women was scared and they paniced which is a natural thing in a REAL Life situation when someone close to you is dying right before your eyes. Everything is happening so fast and your emotions will take hold of you when you see someone Not breathing(because we are all human). My prayers are with you kanye and your family, But I would like everyone to put yourself(s) in every person(s) shoes in the West Family. Would you want your mother’s 911 tape posted? Think of how you would react if you watched as your mother was dying or a close relative. Where is the respect for this family private affairs? Will the media ever draw a line?

This is pathetic. This has just confirmed the world we live in..How can someone say that the ladies were at fault. If this was my family or friends & I was there..I would have panicked as well as the other family members. I can say I would be cool in any situation…wrong..don’t judge. The operator was doing his job the best he could.Trying to obtain all information possible. I took a class on CPR.Who to say I would keep my cool while trying to save a life..Just horrible the way people receive things..We all have our own opinion rather we agree or disagree

Every says “with all due respect let’s not pull the race card.” And I agree.

And with all due respect can we PLEASE not use the God card either. If God exists he/she certainly didn’t will the women on the phone to not listen. She may have died regardless of whether they listened or not but it certainly wouldn’t have because of some God. She died because her heart stopped. Ridiculous.

These women were totally over the top in their reaction. IF they were less dramatic and listened and did as they were instructed, Donda may have stood a very good of still being here. Too many women running their mouths - if I’d been that operator, I would have lost my job - as I would have told them to shut the hell up and listen.

As someone mentioned - he repeated ?’s because they didn’t answer them clearly- if at all - cant breathe, and not breathing ARE two totally different things and since these women were out of their minds with the drama, and not very articulate, what else could the operator do?

8 minutes is nothing to wait as far as emergency services go. I can guarantee you that from where I live, they’d have to teleport themselves in order to arrive at my home in anything less than 10 minutes, and even at 10 minutes, they’d be putting their lives and everyone elses on the road on the line with the speed they would have to be traveling.

When one doctor tells you not to have a surgery, their opinion should be CAREFULLY considered.

What killed this poor woman?
Vanity? Incompetent surgeon? Idiot people who were supposed to be helping her? OR possibly it was just God choosing a time for her soul to come home.

I agree the ladies should have listened to the operator he’s trained for that but, as someone eles statement when it’s your time no-one can save you. May her sole rest in piece.

what a bunch of dumb n*********** and no i don’t mean niggers i mean nincumpoops. what the hell were they doing? I agree they should have listened to the operator how many people were in the room? i bet they didn’t even perform cpr correctly since they could barely take instruction from the operator it took
almost 7 minutes for them to listen. idiots.

OMG, this woman did nothing to help her. I wonder if she could have been saved if she had shut her mouth and listened to the operator. Poor lady had two idiots trying to help her. Very very sad. I feel bad for Kanye, I think I would flip out to know these two ladies panic and let his mother die!

to:kahuna tuna,
you sound just as confused as the women on the phone with the operator. i am a black woman myself and im so tired of us as black people relating everything to prejudice.you must view the lady on the phone as “Dumb black lady”(because i think you were the only one said it)i believe this situation would have still been frustrating for the operator if it was a white, green or blue women that needed help or calling for help you are just as bad as the operator you claim to be prejudice, because you just assume that the women was a black women, why? because she sound dum? pay more attention to what you say

Why did the woman on the phone NOT LISTEN??????WHY DID SHE BOTHER CALLING 911 AND NOT DO AS THE DISPATCHER SAYS IMMEDIATELY????

I think that this dispatcher did everything he was trained to do and was actually pretty patient. there were too many people in the room and everyone started freaking out all at once…she kept saying we are getting ready to start CPR…getting ready to start CPR but NOTHING happened…it wasnt until the operater TOLD her something needed to be done that it was actually done.
I think that this is inappropriate to post….out of respect for ALL parties involved. We could have lived without hearing this and Im sure that if this was my mothers situation I would be ANGRY at the fact that is was posted. Nobody wants to hear this kind of stuff….

1st - I can’t believe people are upset because the ambulance took 8 minutes to get there. The 911 dispatcher indicates that the vehicle is on it’s way at the beginning of the tape. He’s just talking them through until it arrives. I would consider it a miracle if an ambulance got to my house in 8 minutes, hell, it would take an act of God for a medi-chopper to make it in 8 minutes. It’s not like they teleport the EMTs to the home.
2nd - To those upset by the “hospital bed” comment. Many people rent hospital beds for their homes for convalescence. Also, the 911 operator had no idea, the call could’ve been placed from a nursing home or private care facility.
3rd - “Why did he ask so many times?” Here’s why, the woman on the phone kept saying she “can’t breathe”. Can’t breathe and not breathing are very different things. Also, since the person hyperventilating (which feels like you CAN’T breathe) was never identified, even when the operator asked about it, he couldn’t be sure if that was the “patient” or someone else in the room. That individual needed sent outside, she totally made the situation worse.
This operator had the patience of Job! If your job requires you to be dealing with emergencies and hysterical people, it is necessary for you to turn your emotions off so that you can perform your job as necessary. His mission is not to coddle the caller, but instruct them and dispatch help as necessary.
Yes, I have had to make a 911 call, I was rattled, but I moved to another room to discuss the situation with the operator and let the others handle the injured party, panicking like this just shows that you’re more concerned about yourself than the person you are supposed to be taking care of.
May this poor woman rest in peace, she was probably long gone before those women calmed down enough to figure out how to dial the phone.

You know what this is just utter disgust. Of all the tacky entertainment news and gossip magazines and shows I thought that a least “Extra” had more class than this. It is not the fact that she Kanye’s mother she could be anyone’s mother it is just ignorant to post something so disrespectful to the deceased and her loved ones. Where has everyones morals gone these days, what a slap in the face to Kanye and his family. Forget about the fame and crap this man lost his mother, his mother the closes person in the world that you share a bond with. Where is the humantiy in this, feeling for one another in sorrow. This is one the most disturbing things I have ever heard. A lack of respect or decenty. This needs to be warned to others as “graphic material”, “parental guidence” or taken off the internet and other sources of information and news all together.

KAHUNA TUNA- you are a damn idiot.
you just need to stop commenting- you make absolutely no sense. Theres a huge point in the operator asking if she was in a hospital bed- DUH- if so, the bed needed to be lowered if it was raised to insure proper and EFFECTIVE CPR>
There is a difference in not breathing and gasping for air. He needed to know the reality.
Anyway…my personal views are that the operator had a reason to be kinda aggrivated since he couldnt give the proper instructions in a timely manner to save a life cause the women who called 911 werent effectively listening.

Lets just say this who cares? And I mean that with all respect. Why sit and stress upon what could of or should of been done differnt? Its not going to change a thing. The woman is gone now and no amount of arguing is gonna change that. I myself have had to call 911 several times, and you don’t usually find a operator that is nice….that is there job, to try to control a situation! They aren’t there to make friends. Give them a break.
