I TRY TO SURROUND MYSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE CALM UNDER PRESSURE. WHY DIDN’T SHE JUST PUT HIM ON SPEAKER PHONE? BUT THEY WOULD HAVE JUST TALKED OVER THE GUY ANYWAY….

I hope that none of these people are around if something happened to me. They are complete idiots. Forget how long the ambulance took to get there. The lady did not listen at all to the operator. They are pathetic. If I were there I would have slapped the lady on the phone. If they were’nt so ignorant, maybe should would have survived.

Kudos to the 911 operator for not losing his cool and for his efforts to get Ms. West the help she needed. He obviously didn’t have an easy job that day.

Why does the 911 operator need to be fired? He already sent an ambulance and was trying to help those people perform CPR. Unfortunately whoever was on the phone was too freaked out to LISTEN to the operator. He remained calm considering they were not listening to him. The people in the room wasted so much precious time talking back and forth instead of trying to listen to the operator. I also agree that she should have had a private nurse with her, since she had such extensive work done on her. Such a sad story.

I HAVE A COUPLE COMMENTS AND THAT IS ALL IMMA SAY… YES THE PEOPLE SHE WAS IN THE ROOM WITH WASNT PAYING MUCH ATTENTION TO THE 911 OPERATOR, AND IT IS VERY DISTURBING TO LISTEN TO, BUT FOR SOME STUPID PERSON TO LEAVE A COMMENT LIKE THAT ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE IS JUST DUMB… THIS LADY HAS LOST HER LIFE AND ALL PEOPLE CAN DO IS FIND A WAY TO BE RACIST….. THAT JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH OF AN AZZ THAT PERSON IS….. PLUS I DONT THINK THIS TAPE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED…..

If you were unstable, frantic and overwhelmed because of the situation, then you did not need to pick up that phone. The person needed to speak clearly and slowly enough so the address could be heard and an ambulance sent. I think that was a major part of a problem in the response time for Ms. West. One question, why didn’t anyone take her to the hospital when she complained of difficulty breathing? Yes, they dropped the ball, but ultimately her fate was decided by God not them. Respect the famiy and their privacy…

The thing thats really annoying is that i think we established that she was not breathing! how many more times could he ask!

Oh, and Chillchin (whatever you are) I had a family member have a heart attack in a public place (a store who’s name I will not mention) and no one in there did CPR. Ironically (in response to your stupidity) he was in a room full of white people. I might also mention that the person he was with, was white. Not that color should matter…but, I just wanted to point that out to you. Seeing what type of person your are portraying yourself to be, I think you’d be lucky if ANYBODY tried to help you in this type of situation. Be it in a room full of green, purple, white, black, or red people.

I know CPR and I can say what I SHOULD do in a situation like this..but until it actually happens to you, you never know how you will react, now do you? Especially when dealing with a family member. Let’s hope and pray that God has mercy on those of you who are so critical and high and mighty on this subject, so that you will never have to deal with this in the real. I’m sure many of you are throwing this scenario around in your mind picturing yourself reacting like somone on Grey’s Anatomy! When in fact it would probably take some of you 5-10 minutes to even pick up a phone to call an ambulance!

Why was Ms.West alone? With all the money why didn’t they have a private nurse with her while she recuperated? Her relatives happened upon her while visiting, there was no way these people knew what to do in this case. We are middle class and we had a private nurse for anyone over 50 that comes home after surgery. At this woman’s age and with multiple surgeries to leave her alone or with inexperienced persons is very dangerous.
