Donda West's 911 Tape

"Extra" has obtained the 911 call made after Kanye West's mother, Donda, was found unresponsive in her home.

In the tape, an unidentified woman is heard crying, "She's having a heart attack...she complained she couldn't breathe."

As the 911 operator asks questions, the caller pleads for Donda to wake up and says, "We're trying to do CPR on her."

Donda died Nov. 10 following multiple surgeries by Dr. Jan Adams. Adams has maintained that he did nothing wrong.

An autopsy report is pending.

I am a 911 Senior EMS and Fire calltaker; been doing this type of work for 13yrs. The call taker did not handle the call properly; we wasted precious time asking too many questions, instead of telling them what to do. He did many things wrong. This is a sad situation but God never fails—-we all have a time and date. Love You Kanye and Donda (rest in peace)

Screw suing Dr. Adams!!!…the family needs to sue these 2 stupid ladies who were obviously smart enough to call 911 but too stupid to listen to the operator who could have possibly saved Dr. Wests life……and then to top it off one of them even had a panic attack..I tell you what…let Kanye’s family hear this tape

I think he did very good under the circumstances. she was also in a position of a middleman she had to take instructions and then give them to someone else so she had to wait until that person did it, then wait for the answer to give it to him . She was not taking instructions and doing it herself. This is what God intended, so there is no one to place blame on.

It’s very easy to say that she should have listened to the operator if you are not in that position. I think the operator was having an attitude problem. He could have calmed her down in a different way. He was not helping her at all!!! By asking this woman “is she breathing” 10 times is not helping her. If she was breathing she would not make the call now would she. It’s no use to blame this woman. Maybe it was better if she just hang up the phone instead of waisting time. Than maybe she could have saved a life.

FIRST OF ALL I AM APPALLED THIS TAPE IS ACTUALLY IN PUBLIC HANDS. IT IS EXTREMELY SAD THAT PEOPLE STOOP SO LOW FOR “ENTERTAINMENT”. SECOND, PEOPLE SAY THAT THE FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD HAVE LISTENED AND MAYBE DR. WEST WOULD STILL BE HERE….NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY WOULD DO IN A SITUATION LIKE THAT UNTIL THEY ARE PUT IN IT. IT’S SCARY AND PANICKY AND WHEN THOSE 2 EMOTIONS OVERWHELM YOUR JUDGEMENT AND YOU MAY MAKE MISTAKES THAT CAN’T BE CORRECTED. LET’S JUST KEEP THE WEST FAMILY IN OUR PRAYERS AND LET THEM MOURN IN PEACE!!!!!!

1st of all if the woman on the phone would have listened to the to the 911 operater instead of trying to listen to the person in the background that doesnt know what the HELL to do maybe Mrs.West would be here today. My heart goes out to the family, but make sure that she is never around for any other emergencies. MY GOD

The fact of the matter is everything happens for a reason. I have no clue why Dr. West is no longer here. I know that most things don’t make sense to us, but one day they will. I pray for Kanye and his family and even the ladies who were with Dr. West. Yeah, hindsight is always 20/20. We hope that we would have responded differently. We pray we would have … but who really knows.

Just another shining example of how people call 9-1-1 and have no intention of listening to the dispatcher. We are there to help and can save lives..people need to listen and follow instructions and then the outcome can possibly be better. We can save lives if the people calling will listen and help us! As a dispatcher listening to this call is very frustrating…but this is what I deal with on a daily basis! UGH!!!

She should have listened. If it was my loved one. I would have listened to the trained professional. Whether or not it was my relative or not. If I see that no one really knows what to do. Then, I would have said out loud shut up the operator is going to talk us through this quickly. So, listen up. I probably would have been scared and crying but I would have followed what he said to do.

WoW!!! This was a sad tape. I cried and I don’t cry to stuff that the media puts out. But this was extremely sad. My heart goes out to Kanye and his family. The ladies who tried to help needs to listen to this tape because the 911 operator was trying to help but she wasn’t listening very well. I to think that the ladies were ignorant and they may could have saved her life had they listened to the operator. This should be a lesson to others to learn how to give CPR, it could save a life.
She should have listened to his instructions and she may have had a chance at surviving. I understand that she was afraid but that was just plain ignorance.

Okay so lets all be realistic; how does anyone know how they would react when someone that they care about stops breathing and is non- responsive. If it was your best friend, mother, brother, sister? All you people that say you would have listen to the dispatchers; I hope you never have to test your listening skills

okay first of all it’s understandable that everyone is going to be acting differently under pressure but the woman was being ignorant, like ppl have said he disbatched the ambulance within seconds of the call and was doing his best to help them keep her alive. How would you react if you were the operator and the person you were trying to give instructions to wasn’t listening, do you wanna save her or not, act now panic later, geeeeeeez!!!

hellOooOO AS A CONSPIRACY tHeorist “apparently” listening to the noise and the nonscene going on in the background not including the West family ( my sincere condolences) please do not see this as a oversight by paid para meramedics they did they best under the circumstances.

I feel for Mr West and real non drama family but my opinions based on the footage concludes no one is to blame.

LOVE your work WEST I really do.

i work as an ambulance operator and he is following the protocol perfectly, she isnt listening to him and being a bit of an idiot, he is trying to get answers from her quickly so he can get her the best help possible and give her CPR instructions. the guy entered the address at the start of the call and the ambulance is dispatched when this is done. the caller is making it impossible for donda to get the help she so badly needed.

jesus christ!
an ambulance was sent at the very beginning of the phone call.
operators don’t just send an ambulance and hang up, they send an ambulance and talk to the person and talk them through what to do and reassure them while the ambulance is on its way! hence him asking questions about her situation “is she breathing?” to give advice “do you need guidance on cpr” and helping them on mouth-to-mouth!

half of you are so ignorant.
