Britney Spears landed in hot water this weekend after walking out of a gas station - with a lighter she never paid for.

Surrounded by paparazzi, the pop star swiped the blue lighter and giggled to one cameraman, "I stole something!"

Then, just as soon as she came in, she zoomed out of the Sherman Oaks, Calif. station.

It looks like Brit won't have to face the store's manager, though: A paparazzo happily paid the $1.39 price tag.

Why does everyone act like this is no big deal. I didn’t know that shoplifting was okay if the item you shoplift is under $2.00. If this was an unfamous person they would be charged with shoplifting. I really sometimes feel sorry for Britney, but why does she think that it is okay for her to just take something.

Wow…She had Everything going good for her in PAST, now it’s going to WAIST. I really can’t believe her she really looks like T-P. It is sad to see how she is going but hey she asked for it. She just needs to stop her %$^& and start doing the right things for her kids. They are really the ones who suffer.
