Wrong Contestant Crowned Miss California USA 2008?

Inside sources tell “Extra” that the Miss Universe organization may have a new scandal on its hands over last weekend’s Miss California USA Pageant.

“Extra” has information that the wrong contestant may have been awarded the crown due to an alleged accounting error.

Cristina Silva, Miss Los Angeles, was named Miss California USA 2008, but sources tell “Extra” the judges actually chose the 2nd runner-up, Raquel Beezley, Miss Barstow, as the winner.

Sources tell “Extra” that Silva has been made aware of the error and the pageant’s owner, Donald Trump, has been looped in as well.

Today, The Miss Universe Organization tells “Extra”, “This matter is being handled on the state level.”

I was there all weekend watching my sister compete and the show along with the Hosts were TERRIBLE! It was not the contestants fault at all and they all looked beautiful (christina, raquel and so on…) I along with many others believed Los Angeles should not have even been in the top15! She was way too over the top and the judges need to keep in my ind who will take it home at USA Finals. I feel a bunch of girls got the shaft- I was really surprised that Miss Folsom and Miss Coronado weren’t in there; those 2 along with Barstow blew me (along with my friends) away on friday. Stunning! We thought it was between them three…

SOMETHING IS VERY FISHY….and I think you will all agree that EVERY young lady that competed in this competition feels awful. It’s just not right what happened. The Miss California judge that wrote in her defense, doesn’t mention the pain and embarassment the five finalists are feeling at this moment. I’m not so sure that the five finalists were given “true” status. How do we know exactly what place these girls took? First Woodland Hills was first runner up,now she’s not. Miss Greater San Diego is first runner up and she looks like the real winner. How do we know these girls ballots weren’t messed with? The whole thing is a disgrace to the intelligence of those who participated and attended. The girls should ALL get their money back and the Orpheum Theatre should refund everyones money. What a waste of time.

Yo creo q la ganadora verdadera era la Carrie Prejean, Miss Greater San Diego!!! I think the TRUE winner was Carrie Prejean- Carrie, you have a great heart- it was obvious from seeing you the way you walk, the way you acted at the dinner the night before the pageant, and the way you present yourself, that you are a very classy, respectable, brilliant, and BEAUtiful young woman. The Miss USA Trump pageant NEEDS women like you!!! TRump is a pervert, and I honestly don’t like the way he picks the women to be in is pagrants- stop asking for sluttiness, Trump. Have the courage to look for some women like Prejean, and then you’ll have less scandal and the true winner and beauty.

I feel cheated in so many ways… We need to get our money back, agree??? I vote that we redo the pageant w/ qualified judges OR get our money back… Plus, at least the real winner will get a proper coronation right???

THE WINNER IS MISS LOS ANGELES CHRISTINA SILVA AND THAT’S THAT. HER INTEGRITY WILL NOT ALLOW HER TO KEEP THIS CROWN BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT WANT TO BE PART OF SUCH A SCANDAL. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BE PART OF THIS TYPE OF PAGEANT. SHAME ON THE GIRLS THAT FEEL THEY NEED TO BE PART OF THIS AFTER ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED. ARE YOU THAT DESPERATE. CHRISTINA IS A BIGGER PERSON AND DOES NOT NEED TRUMP SCANDALOUS ORGANIZATION TO MAKE HER THE WINNER SHE ALREADY IS. YOU STAND TALL AND PROUD. YOUR AS GOOD AS ANY OF THE 5 FINALIST. JUST GIVE IT TO BEEZLEY SHE LOOKS LIKE THE TYPE THAT WOULD FEED INTO THIS DISGRACEFUL ORGANIZATION.

In regards to raiderandy maybe you were not at the same MIss Ca USA pageant because it was a disater the entire pageant from begining to end either that or you have never seen another pageant to know the difference we were ashamed to have invited people to attend because it normally is at the very least a show with class. It is a presentation where they have a production that flows well. As another person stated It was a mess. Where even at the end Megan Tandy wasnt even announced to do her final walk, that was one of many malfunctions of the night. K2 should be ashamed at the outcome what a shame for everyone even tho we thought of the 15 that were announced Beezly was the rightful winnerand the girl who should represent our state, it is sad for all the girls involved. And sadly for Miss Silva she suffers the ultimate disappointment because she then had to give up something that was so close to being hers Good job on her part for handling it by giving it back to Beezly. Furthermore, who knows the top 15 could have been a mistake as well(which the judge even stated he was dissappointed with the top 15 they had to vote on)

Actually from what the JUDGE wrote

The original runners up went:
Miss California USA,

Miss California USA, Miss Los Angeles
1st Runner up, Miss Woodland Hills
2nd Runner up, Miss Barstow
4th Runner Up, Miss Greater San Diego
5th Runner Up, Miss Palo Verdes

So HOW did Miss Los Angeles and Miss Barstow swap? What about Miss Woodland Hills WHO WAS FIRST RUNNER UP? Even if you switch the two, Miss Los Angeles should be second runner up. Not first. Something is still very wrong and fishy. I think a true investigation is thoroughly needed. Someone is getting screwed, and it’s NOT OK!!!

I was a judge in this Miss California USA pageant finals. I just want to clear a few things up.

1. The judges that picked the top 15 for the Teen division were swapped to judge the Miss division for the final 15 and vice versa. Not sure why they made us swap, but that’s how it goes.

2. Miss Barstow was my #1 pick and when she was called as 2nd runner up, my jaw dropped. Other judges on my panel had the same reaction.

3. The “accounting error” didn’t occur with the judges. We simply filled out our ballots and turned them in. The “accounting error” was by the person tallying the votes. They obviously put down the wrong scores on the wrong contestants.

4. No one cheated, someone did make a HUGE mistake, it was not the judges, and none of the judges knew any of the contestants.

And here is the final results of the Top 5 of the Miss California USA.

Miss California USA, Miss Barstow
1st Runner Up, Miss Greater San Diego
2nd Runner Up, Miss Los Angeles
3rd. Runner Up, Miss Woodland Hills
4th Runner Up, Miss Palo Verdes

This isn’t how I judged it exactly, but keep in mind it’s the total of all 5 judges, and after asking the others what there votes were it makes a lot more since. Miss Barstow was/is the true winner of the Miss California USA pageant.
And just so you know, I was disappointed some girls did not make it into the top 15. The judges all had different taste. My hat off to Miss Silva, she was terrific and I’m sure will be very successful in whatever awaits her.

I hope this helps clear up some misinformed individuals and confused readers.

You obviously don’t get it. Christina should step down, why keep something if there was an error in totaling the scores. The actual winner should be Miss California.

This to my dismay is such a disappointment to hear Christina Silva is not the winner. Who’s ever fault it is, this girl should not have to pay the price. She was crowned the winner for Miss California, so she should keep the title of Miss California. If the judges and accountants can’t do their job, then hire someone who can. It is just cruel to take this crown away from this girl. By all rights, she was the winner and everyone involved should stand by the original decision that Christina Silva is Miss California and should go on to compete for the Miss USA title.

OK…so if the “real” winner is Miss Barstow…who are the runners up? What happened to the most beautiful Greater San Diego? The gorgeous Miss Woodland Hills? Do they get stripped of their places? I’m curious to know what happened to these two women that would have made Barstow look like someones step child at Miss USA.Those two beauties got robbed if you ask me.

if the judges messed up, that does not give Christina the right to keep this UNEARNED title. she should do the right thing, which she did. although it isn’t her fault, raquel still deserves what is rightfully hers! Stop saying she shouldn’t get what she is entitled to!!!

I just want to say that yes all the girls worked hard and the winner is Christina Silva. She was crowned Miss California and she should be Miss California. This is a “BIG” Peageant how can this mistake take place! I don’t believe this organization would hire an accountant that could not do his job.HOW COULD THIS MISTAKE HAPPEN? I think Christina Should keep the title she was crowned, she did the walk, she is Miss California. The focus should be on the judges the accountants and not the contestants. This is a message to judges and accountants…How could you be so cruel to let a person go through all that excitement and then say it was a mistake, you did not win after all! How would you feel???

if christina was meant to be miss california, she would have kept the title. let things be as they are meant. raquel will be incredible.

I think that this whole thing is overall a BIG disappointment! It is not the contestants fault what happened..
a pageant of this caliber should first of all start out with a panel of qualified judges. I mean if a small city pageant can bring in judges that have had twenty and thirty years of judging and pageantry experience, I would expect a large pageant such as the Miss California USA pageant to bring in more qualified judges, not 19 and 20 year olds, who have no business judging a pageant of this caliber. If more qualified judges were present this could all have been avoided, I have seen when the winners are announced and the results have not matched what the judges have selected… THEY STOP THE PAGEANT… judges talk and share opinions, (Generally they agree and have in mind the winners) if the results are way off of what they have in mind…( Which this was) Then they correct it right away, be it accounting or whatever… not wait almost a week!
