Wrong Contestant Crowned Miss California USA 2008?

Inside sources tell “Extra” that the Miss Universe organization may have a new scandal on its hands over last weekend’s Miss California USA Pageant.

“Extra” has information that the wrong contestant may have been awarded the crown due to an alleged accounting error.

Cristina Silva, Miss Los Angeles, was named Miss California USA 2008, but sources tell “Extra” the judges actually chose the 2nd runner-up, Raquel Beezley, Miss Barstow, as the winner.

Sources tell “Extra” that Silva has been made aware of the error and the pageant’s owner, Donald Trump, has been looped in as well.

Today, The Miss Universe Organization tells “Extra”, “This matter is being handled on the state level.”

I find this all very funny.. I posted earlier and have been reading all the other posts.
Every one is so eager to jump on board and state their opinion no matter how misinformed and guided you are. I just think that you all would be doing and saying the exact same thing if the roles were reversed! Anything to create drama… an error happened… it is not the end of the world.. it happens (EVERYWHERE) … if you are so concerned with how this person or that feels.. why don’t you think about how some of your childish misinformed ramblings may be effecting both Christina and Raquel.. they are a product of circumstance an error was found and corrected and they are going with the decision, no matter how much everyone pisses and moans, the person with the highest score holds the title!

Raquel and Christina you both are wonderful women and are both behaving with class and dignity.. do not let what you may read here discourage you or bring you down.. be confident in yourselves!!.. and Raquel you hold your head up high you did nothing wrong I am believe you will represent our state the best you can!!.. Rise above the negativity and soar to victory!

i’m sure you all would feel differently about your opinion on Raquel if you got to know her and actually knew what kind of life she lives.

Raquel Beezley is an amazing person. She does not deserve to be gossipped about through all of this. She works hard and struggles to pay for the competition alone. How could she have payed for all of this to cheat her way to the top? It is the most ridiculous thing i have read so far. All of these people are amazing. Blurting out ASSUMPTIONS such as her having LIPO? come on. Raquel has been a model for years, and all throughout high school was a cheerleader. she has always been in shape.. She does not and never has needed lipo. It’s incredible how all these rumors are flying. I cannot wait to see Raquel take this to the top. I have complete faith in her. All of you, who don’t know what you are even saying, give her a chance to prove she is real. She has wanted this for so long. And it is not her fault that everyone hired to do the job failed to do it RIGHT. She is innocent through all of this and she will bypass everyones WRONG judgements and assumptions.
and also, for the ones who think that it was announced that Raquel won this BEFORE the event started, it WAS. many times for all of her fans having the most faith in her. she is full of determination and everyone knew that she would win. she is that GREAT.
She is the winner. Don’t be jealous that she has been competing for years and she has what it takes. none of this is her fault. if you can bash her and talk down on her than OBVIOUUSLY you know who she is, you are only jealous. Christina knows she doesn’t really deserve it as much as RAQUEL does that’s why she;s given up her UNOWNED crown. she actually NEVER gave it up, because it was never hers in the first place!!!

I was a contestant at this pageant and I too compete in many different competitions. I am saddened by the outrageous outcome of this pageant, and I know first hand that this is not a usual incident for the Miss California pageant. I must say, to those of you who think Raquel’s family got VIP tickets the day of the pageant, and that this has anything to do with her winning, I will let you know a little secret: there were last minute, VIP seats, that the ORPHEUM THEATRE had held for their own personnel, they decided to release them the day of the pageant, and ALL contestants were made aware of their availibility and where to purchase them. If you were unaware of this, it is your contestant’s fault for not telling you, not Raquel’s for telling her family. In addition, you all must understand that this is not easy for anyone in the competition. I can assure you it is not easy for Raquel, Keith, or Cristina. Stop creating more drama by stating your opinions of what you think happened. You don’t know the truth, and I doubt anyone except Keith, the judges, and maybe Cristina, even knows what happened. Stop making up lies! It is what it is, leave it alone, and let Raquel have her year.

Who cares about this pageant. Why are those crew men (photographers) were in the change room taking pictures of the contestants changing ….that’s awful…they’re perverts.

IT’S FUNNY THAT EVERYONE KNOWS SO MUCH ABOUT MISS BARSTOW, BUT THEY CAN’T EVEN GET HER NAME RIGHT. HER NAME IS RAQUEL. NOT Rachel. NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT HER. THE FAMILY HAD TICKETS THE DAY THEY WENT ON SALE SO DON’T MAKE ANYTHING UP!

I think it is distasteful to change who was crowned. Rachel is obviously friends with the producers of the pageant and paid someone. she is a fame seeker. she has been in hundreds of pageants and doesn’t care how she wins.
she is lame and has obviously had lipo

Right On! I agree with the last post, It was not these girls fault but they are catfhing the brunt of it. Christina, you did the honorable thing Raquel, keep your head up, with recalculations and enough time spent of making sure the right thing was going to be done, the right way, you deserve the crown that you won on stage! Good Luck at Miss USA, and all of this Monday morning quarterbacking will not take that away from you! This doesn’t need to be bantered by the media or other soar loosers.

OK, I’ve just about had enough, I will say what I feel needs to be said, and then bid this site farewell! This is the first time I have been to these so called message boards and I assure you it will be my last, but a friend told me I had to see this release after the announcement on television last night, so I checked it out.
I too was at the pageant and for those of you who weren’t there; I can tell you, it was obvious that something went terribly wrong. As far as I know I was not sitting near any family members of Miss Barstow but it was very obvious that at least 80% of the audience felt that something wasn’t right when she was announced as second runner up. That is when they should have taken an intermission and re-evaluated the scores; before going any further. It has been done on rare occasions before, but with inexperienced judges, they probably felt as if they shouldn’t speak up. This brings me to the point that many of you seem to have wrong. Second Runner up, is not third runner up, you need to get this straight. Of course it makes little difference if she was called as third place or fourth, but if you are going to express your opinion, you should make sure your facts are right.
This is not an easy situation for anyone involved. Christina was awarded a crown that she didn’t win, many of you are talking about fair and square, yet it has been admitted that it wasn’t fair and square, it was an error. Raquel graciously accepted second runner up and licked her wounds like everyone else, I can imagine that she was just as shocked anyone when Christine called her to tell her that she was the true winner of the crown.
And for those of you who feel it took too long for this to come to the surface … I am quite certain that a great deal of time went into the recalculation and evaluation of the scores and that Christina was shown where the errors occurred so she could see for herself and understand how this happened. I admire her understanding and courage to put herself through this and do what was right.
Another person I admire is Raquel Beezley for agreeing to take the crown which apparently is rightfully hers, knowing the controversy it would cause and that she will be put up for scrutiny and possible ridicule because of it. And apparently this is something that goes on in this venue, as I have witnessed it for myself. I don’t think you can be in pageants and not know that this type of thing occurs. I don’t know how she will fare in the Miss USA Pageant, but I am quite certain that she will carry herself with dignity and represent the state of California well, and for this we should wish her well. She obviously was prepared for the state competition; she has a phenomenal body, carries herself with confidence and nailed her on stage question. This is undeniably true, as at least 80% of the audience felt it also.
As for K-2 Productions, apparently some mistakes occurred or we would not be finding them in this situation in the first place. But, wouldn’t it have been much easier for them to keep their mouth shut and let Christina continue to hold the title? Although it has caused much embarrassment and pain, they took the right road to try of rectify this error. They have egg on their face, but they chose to come forward and make the correction publically in order to uphold the reputation of pageantry. I commend Keith Lewis and his staff for taking this step and I am quite certain that he will take measures in order to avoid this from ever occurring again in the future.
I don’t care who agrees with this or not and apparently we only see who does agree, as that is the only result that is posted. For all of you out there who feel that the true Miss California USA, Raquel Beezley should not step forward and accept the duties of the crown, you will probably disagree with this message and you are entitled to your opinion. I believe that you are the ones that are agreeing with those who are saying that the results were a set up and that Raquel was promised thE crown. We will never know just how many disagree with you, but if the audiences reaction at the pageant is any indication … . YOU ARE THE MINORITY!
But if you agree with this posting, go ahead and click the agree button, rest assured we will come out victorious because the number of people who disagree, will never be revealed.

I attended the whole thing.from thrusday to moday.this whole thing was inshambles.from getting on the plane to go to cali on thanksgiven(not to mention the girls could not enjoy thannksgiven with family)to getting to the hotel(which was way over priced nice hotel but way to expensive)to the parking of the rental cars and the parking(you would think for the price of the rooms that the family of the contestent wouldnt be charged,to the way friday night show went to being told there would be shuttle provided(which never happened thank GOD for the people that rented a car.myself and others that where in the party from the west coast to the east coast(2 out of the many was from the east coast)thoughtthat Miss Folsom, Miss Bel Air and Miss Brentwood,Miss Centry City and a few other girls should have made it to the top 15 rather then some of the 15 that did.theses young women went thru nerve racking stuff, from not being with their families to getting prepared for this Event..I agree with most on here K2 should give back money to theses girls for not full filling their end, anyone in their right MIND would not make theses beautiful women stand in an alley or let camera men in to film theses girl what is the matter with this Society.in my eyes all those women where winners, and as the part mentioned about girls being close and stepping on gowns,i personally now some of them that their gowns where stepped on and i belive it was personal, and that the one that was stepping on them had it in for them.and again all of this is about POLITICS.Pageant 1500.00 entry fee,1000.00 to 3000.00 for gown, watching your daughter enter the stage in gown or swimsuit PRICELESS..
redo this pageant over with different JUDGES and lets see if there are any differance in the top 15 to the new miss california

Raquel is an awesome person she deserves the title and she isnt fake and she has a lovely mother who backs her daughter. All you people need to stop bashing her she paid just like everyone else.

There are however very many other suspicious events such as a meeting for girls who had never competed at Kieths private residence. This is a state pageant not a local city pageant have some continuity!

Raquel deserves everything she has worked hard for and it is HER CROWN— SO RAQUEL WEAR IT AND BE PROUD! Cant wait to see you at USA ! CONGRATULATIONS!

Well, the whole thing was a sham…I am sad to say. The ladies paid $1500 to participate, bought gowns, cocktail dress, shoes, tickets, hotel cost for family…adding up to many thousands of dollars only to find that the scores were wrong! The production was a mess (why were cameras filming girls changing clothes ???) the event was unorganized and unprofessional. I know many of the women that participated are wanting some or all of the their entry fee back (especially since our sponsors weren’t mentioned).

The judging as a whole was odd, lack of continuity and MANY women were shocked that certain contestants did not make top 15, personally, I thought that Miss Folsom, Miss Bel Air and Miss Brentwood would have been in the top 15. They had poise, stage presence and grace.

Hopefully for K2, he doesn’t lose all of the wonderful women to another pageant system. I know he must have made a small fortune on us ($1500 * 150 girls). Instead of coming away with a positive experience - I feel tainted and used!
