Miss California USA Relinquishes Crown to Real Winner

Newly-crowned Miss California Christina Silva has relinquished her crown to the real winner.

A statement from K2 Productions, which produces the pageant, reads:

"Christina Silva, who was crowned Miss California U.S.A. 2008 on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, relinquished her crown to the real winner, Raquel Beezley, after it was discovered that an accounting error resulted in her incorrectly winning the prestigious title."

California State Director Keith Lewis said, "This is a very unfortunate situation but Christina has made a trying situation less so by being one of the classiest women I have had the pleasure to work with and an absolutely picture perfect role model. I really would have enjoyed working with Christina as the reigning Miss California U.S.A. I know that whatever she does, she is going to be a huge success."

Silva, 24, said, "When I found out it didn't belong to me, I knew there was only one thing to do... no matter how difficult."

The statement said that Beezley was surprised when she received a call from Silva congratulating her as the actual titleholder.

"I think it is pretty impressive that Christina called me to inform me of the error," Beezley said. "I hope over the next year I can show the same type of poise and grace under pressure as she has in such a short period of time."

Beezley, 21, from Barstow, will go on to compete at the Miss U.S.A. pageant on NBC in April 2008 as the reigning Miss California U.S.A.

The Miss California officials are absolutely unethical, and deserve to be sued. Who is going to believe the story that there was a miscalculation? It is possible for the officials to prefer one minority ethnic group over another. I believe Miss Silva is correct in her observations that the officials were prejudiced. By all means she should be compensated for her duress. Next time, the officials will be more careful to come up with the better story ——- or better yet, they won’t “mess around” with a Latina.

We have had a bit too much excitement over the last few weeks for my taste but the character of anyone is built not by the mistakes they may be part of but in the way they handle those mistakes. I have been open, honest and as timely as I could, given the complexity of working in a large organization and trying to maneuver in un-chartered waters. For me, I have a favorite saying which is when I knew better – I did better. This was a first. I learned a great deal and god forbid if I was ever faced with something like this again, I would put that knowledge to good use. But I will never regret being truthful in spite of whatever personal of professional criticism may follow. How can I expect you all to be the role models I aspire for you if I am unwilling to do the same? That doesn’t excuse the situation or diminish any feelings that may have come from it but it is what it is, so to say. I would love to speak with anyone who has issue with the event, outcome or our role personally because I believe in truth and in being accountable. I suspect we let each of you down and for that I am sorry I assure you that I am available if you want to talk. We have been taking every call, returning every e-mail and the office is steadfast in our commitment to remain proactive. . And I am glad to say, that a number of the calls we have had were very complimentary. I appreciate all the feedback.

For now, I am reviewing our event and trying to formulate how to move forward next year to make sure it is better. For me, I hope to expand what works, eliminate what doesn’t and fine tune the overall experience to make it as positive as it possible can be. Part of that is understanding what you want and giving it to you but the competition part is challenging. It is difficult to not be disappointed unless you are the one who goes home wearing the crown or in this year’s case, even that didn’t provide solace. But you all need to really understand the saying different night, different girl. You can not blame yourself or me for the outcome. You must enjoy the process or reconsider your involvement. Some things will work, others must be changed but at the end of the day, my commitment is to provide you with a red carpet experience you all will be proud of. I believe in the organization and the opportunity we provide our participants. I also believe that we owe it to you to deliver on our commitment. With that in mind, this year did not live up to my expectations. I have worked over the last few weeks with MUO in order to offer you an unparallel discount should you decide to return next year. I think some people think running this event is a money making venture. But the realities are that expenses have exceeded revenue each year and I am yet to be compensated for even my time. A large portion of your entry fees go directly to MUO and are not able to offset the operating costs but I have received permission to discount all returning participants from the 2005, 2006, and the 2007 events for $950 through 2/15. Think of it as Holiday Cheer with a Valentine deadline. I hope you all understand that this is a huge leap and I appreciate the MUO working with us to provide it to you, I can tell you one thing, next year will be our best year ever. I am bringing out all the stops and I hope you will be there to enjoy them with me. Happy Holidays and May you all be healthy and happy in the New Year.

Best regards,

Keith Lewis

Everyone needs to stop writing mean and inappropraite comments about both Christina and Raquel. They are not the ones that caused all this drama. The people you should be bashing is Keith Lewis, K2 Productions, the “volunteer accountants”, and the one and only son of gun Donald J. Trump. They are the master minds behind all this! Keith Lewis is not a man of intergrity or class. I love that his idea of consoling are sorrows is with a holiday “gift” of bribes. Please stop Mr. Lewis your an embarassment and do something about your 80’s hair do! He is great at crying on cue and loves to talk trash. He has said it in the pass that he did not get along with Megan Tandy 07 winner and made comments about her bad skin. Oh wait he is a classy guy.?. By the way many of you don’t know this but if you look closely at some of the footage posted on you tube, google and various media outlets not once but twice does he run after Miss Barstow when she looses. If you look closely after he takes a picture with Miss Barstow as third runner up she walks away and a few seconds later he goes after her. Now some of you maybe thinking who cares. Well why didnt he run after Palos Verdes, Greater San Diego, Woodland hills? Just seems odd. Another shot of film you can see Keith looking at a particular angle, the direction Barstows VIP family section was and he looks scared and well to be frank like “oh crap someone did not get the memo” Contestants did you know that K2 Productions has put a restriction on the film distribution not only to the media but to the public as well. Why? Because there are a lot of things they don’t want you to see but more importanly hear. Look ladies kudos to you if you want to continue to participant again next year but just remember the kind of people you will be surrounded by. Funny how Keith has stated via email that he makes no money producing the pagent but last that I heard he lives three doors down from the one and only Halle Berry. Oh that’s where my $8,000.00 went.! Girls why hasnt he showed anyone the official, official ballots? I mean that would end it all, right? Well that will never happen they have been sealed and re-written with love by Mr. Keith Lewis. Oh by the way I think it is so cute when you watch the press confrence he had for the recrowning look at him stare at Raquel. It is so creepy, so disturbing and just plain wrong. Raqul if I were you I would never be alone with him, I mean seriously honey the way he is looking at you would make a priest happy. Keith have a great time making next years event bigger and better that’s the least you can do right. If anything he should get crowned “Mr Manipulator USA 2008, 2009, 2010……” Donald Trump must be so proud of his young son. Trump only hires the best. Resume to The Donald with love Keith Lewis

Miss Los Angeles aced the swimsuit competition.

Looked great in an evening gown.

Poise?

You be the judge:

When Christina Silva of Koreatown was asked on the final day of the Miss California USA beauty pageant 10 days ago in Los Angeles if she was a leader or a follower, she said:

“I’m a leader. I’m on top and in front.”

Silva’s adoring family was in attendance at the Orpheum Theatre, sweating it out as she made the cut to the final 15, the final 10, the final five. And then, the impossible dream:

Silva, a 24-year-old actress, was crowned Miss California.

Her first thought: Miss USA or bust!

Imagine, then, the crushing blow that came just four days later. Silva said she was summoned to the Los Angeles home of pageant director Keith Lewis. She thought she would be signing a contract that would open doors to unlimited opportunity. Instead, she was told the unimaginable.

Due to a so-called error in the tabulation of voting by pageant judges, she was not a winner, after all. Nice try and see you later.

Instead, the crown belonged to Miss Barstow, Raquel Beezley, who had been second runner-up.

“It was the shock of my life,” says Silva, who didn’t understand the explanation that judges’ point totals had been accidentally reversed. If that were the case, why wasn’t the fifth-place finisher the winner? Silva had to wonder whether the pageant simply preferred Beezley’s look, or wanted to reward her for having been on the pageant circuit longer than Silva had.

“I went there with such joy and happiness in my heart, and when I was told I didn’t win, I just broke down and cried. My mom held me and I said, ‘Why me? Why is this happening?’ “

Excellent questions, if you ask me. And here’s another: “What kind of Mickey Mouse operation is the pageant, anyway?”

Let’s not forget this is all part of some Donald Trump fantasy. His Miss Everything operation includes Miss Universe and Miss USA, and the most interesting news always seems to come out after the winners are crowned. Trump fired one Miss Universe and almost dumped last year’s Miss USA when she entered rehab.

How about firing some of the people running the show?

To add insult to injury, Silva says Lewis pushed her to play the role of Miss Congeniality and personally call Miss Barstow to break the news. This would have been like asking Jennifer Aniston to call Angelina Jolie and offer to turn over her wedding ring.

“I’m not going to use the word threatened, but I am going to use the words pressured and manipulated,” says Silva, who has since hired an attorney to argue her case.

I’ll get to Lewis’ response in a moment.

But Silva says he told her she could continue to wear “the crown and the sash, but if this leaks out somehow, your career and your integrity will be completely jeopardized. You don’t want to be that kind of girl. You’re a girl of faith, right?”

Silva says she had nothing against Beezley, the new winner. So she placed the call and delivered the news.

“It was so difficult, I had to hold back tears,” said Silva, who then went home, locked herself in her room and cried for days.

In a statement, the pageant said “a mistake was made by the volunteer accountant who tabulated the votes” on the night in question, the night on which Christina Silva’s future looked so gloriously bright.

The release said Silva was told she could keep her crown, the sash, “and the $4,500 Miss California USA necklace,” and that she could have her $1,500 entry fee back.

Lewis seems to express surprise that Silva wasn’t playing the good sport.

“It is unfortunate that now, several days later, we have heard reports that Miss Silva feels manipulated although she has not returned our calls or e-mails,” he says in the news release.

“We support Christina in her quest to seek the truth. At the end of the road she won’t find an ounce of discrimination, preferential treatment or impropriety. What she will find is simple human error.”

Reached last evening at his home, Lewis said the audience reacted disapprovingly when Silva was announced as the queen of California. He didn’t think anything of it, he said, until a judging coordinator told him, “The judges are talking, and they’re surprised at the winner.”

Lewis said further examination of the ballots revealed that point totals were assigned to the wrong contestants.

Nice going.

This could be the biggest voting scandal since the hanging chads. And, as with Florida in 2000, I’m not even sure what to believe. The more Lewis attempted to explain how it all went wrong, the more confused I got.

How hard can this be?

Hot in Bathing Suit - 5 points.

Frumpy in Bathing Suit - 1 point.

Quick Witted- 5 points.

Barely Verbal - 1 point.

Pencil them in and move on to the next contestant.

Lewis denied telling Silva that refusing to give up the crown would hurt her career, and he still thinks he was right to encourage her to call Miss Barstow with the news.

“My advice to her was to take the high ground,” said Lewis. “I think she did the right thing. She cried, I cried.”

There’s nothing to cry about, Miss Los Angeles.

I mean no disrespect to Miss Barstow, nor am I suggesting that her dusty, drive-by town couldn’t produce a beauty worthy of the crown. All I’m saying is that until a better explanation of this fiasco is offered, this column will continue to recognize Christina Silva as the official Miss California.

You got a problem with that, Donald Trump?

I personally know Raquel and can say that she is a great person and deserves that crown. She was so gracious after she thought that she had lost, and should not be the victim of any bashing… she had no control over the situation. Way to go Raquel.. and good luck @ Miss USA!

I strongly believe that Christine should have the crown. Nothing against Ms. Barstow but if Keith tells Christine that they counted votes incorrectly, Christine then should had questioned authority and not give up her title until investigations are conducted and proved that she indeed did not win that title. I honestly think that Christine would represent California much better than Ms. Barstow. Also, Chrisine is prettier and in better shape than Ms. Barstow. But that’s not the point. The point is that if Keith and his team made a mistake they shouldn’t make Chrisine pay for it. They should be more educated about their positions and duties. Poor Christine did not have to go through the embarrassment of giving up her title publically due to a mistake done by Keith and tabulators. God knows if the new count is legit. Christine should make them count every vote in front of her to ensure that she does not deserve the crown. Finally, “Keith do your job well done”. These type of mistakes bring huge consequences and how do we all think Christine feels now. Finally, that nasty person who referred to Christine in such negative manner shoud shout his mouth and look at himself. He needs to see a psychiatrist to increase his meds. I bet he’s unattractive and gross. So who is he to make such judgement when he may be as nasty as a “pig”.

Let’s refresh our memories with a very eloquently made observation that was posted right after Christina was mistakenly crowned…………….

Here’s my take on the CA pageant. I am neither a disgruntled contestant nor the family of one. I am a “disinterested party” - had no “horse in the race,” so to speak. I just attend for fun and to appreciate the beautiful girls, and I have done so off-and-on for many years. I have met a number of the girls personally, and I am usually a strong CA supporter. For example, I thought Brittany Hogan, Stephanie Brink, and Tamiko Nash all had a great shot at winning their national events, and I also thought Meagan Tandy and Kylee Lin were strong choices for ’07. I thought Ellen Chapman had one of the most beautiful faces in ’04, and so on back through the years. The point being: I am not a chronic complainer or a sore loser.

I will try to be as fair as possible in my report. BUT, if you don’t want to hear anything negative, please don’t read this post. I am going to tell you what I saw and heard – I was at both prelims and finals. Finals night was strange indeed, and I found the outcome of Miss absolutely incomprehensible.

But let me start with Teen. The Teen field seemed both small and relatively weak to me, a little over 30 girls. I didn’t see anyone that had the whole package. I came up with only a top 10, and I was pretty close. 4 of my 10 made the top 5. Conspicuously absent from my list was Ventura, the eventual winner. So I was surprised. My original choice was Greater San Diego (Kelly Snyder), but I think she lost it in SS. After that my choice would have been Beaumont, as I think she had the best face for a possible placement at TUSA, followed by Temecula. Nevertheless, the winner seemed likeable, humble, articulate, & cute – very teen looking. I am not optimistic she will place at the next level, but there are 4 months to re-style & prepare. Since there really wasn’t an all-around obvious choice, I can live with this one and I wish her the best! I must say that the interviews at teen were probably the best final ro u nd interviews I have ever heard – and that includes interviews at the miss level too! All 5 had good to fantastic interviews and made their families proud, I am sure! Great job! The winner was radiant. I liked her blue EG.

Now for the Miss competition. In fairness to the judges, I suggested in a previous post that, after looking at pictures and after attending prelims, I did not see an obvious winner. So I agreed with Max and B that it was a competitive year, but only in the sense that there was not one clear front-runner - as there was in Tamiko’s year (IMHO). But despite a large field of 90 women, I respectfully disagreed with them (Max & B) about there being lots of prospects for a top placement at Miss USA. I didn’t see it, though I do think there were a handful that were already in Miss USA shape physically – among them Carrie Prejean, Raquel Beezley, Sara Chapman, and Amber Coffman. The lack of an obvious front-runner is why I posted earlier that it would no t surprise me if an unknown candidate swooped in to win. But never in my wildest dreams (er, nightmares) did I expect what happened.

Miss Los Angeles, the eventual winner, first caught my eye on Finals night during the opening dance number, but not in a good way. With 80 girls on stage, my gaze was drawn to her because she was gyrating provocatively, unlike any of the other girls. She was grinding her hips and pelvis, trying (unsuccessfully) to act sexy – using her hands and lips, as well as her body movements, to exude raw sexuality - like some kind of “hoochie-mama.” I heard the man seated in front of me laugh out loud and say to his companion, “She looks like a pole dancer.” Honestly, I am guessing the Scott Grossman, if he could see it, must have been mortified. She looked like a stripper alright, and someone else nearby said: “Get that girl off the stage.” It was, shall we say, not classy.

At prelims, I use a little scoring routine. I give a “3” (excellent ) , a “2” (pretty good), or a “1” (no chance) to each girl in SS and in EG. Then I see which girls have a total of “4” or higher. Usually I’m pretty close on top 15. Even this year, with all the surprises, I got 9 out of 15 right, plus 2 more were on my list of 4 bubblers. But this girl who won - I had her for a “1” in SS and a “1” in EG. At no time was she ever on my radar for top 15.

The biggest surprises of the first round were 1) the inclusion of the eventual winner, and 2) the exclusion of Amber Coffman (Brentwood), Nana Meriwether (Malibu), and Carol Chen (San Francisco). Amber was very toned and fit; I thought she was a shoo-in for top 15 and top 10, especially considering her interviewing skills. As for Nana Meriwether, I thought she took prelims by storm. An African-American woman, at least 6’1” – a UCLA student and volleyball player (someone said she may go to Olympics). She was athletic, trim, and well-proportioned. Although not facially stunning, she was cla s sy, well-styled and seemed very comfortable in her skin and on stage. I thought she might be the newcomer to steal the crown, and I would not have been disappointed. She had a fabulous gown – people gasped at prelims! And Carol Chen – I found her the loveliest of the Asian girls, and she won the EG award with a stunning gown. I was not surprised by the exclusion of Cassandra Jean or Megan Bushell, nor by the earlier-than-expected exits of Lacey Wilson and Sara Chapman. I don’t want to be unnecessarily negative however, so you’ll have to ask me if you want to know more.

From that point on, the biggest surprises of the night (perhaps of the entire history of the CA USA pageants) were the inexplicable inclusion of Miss Los Angeles, Cristina Silva, at each round. It was such a “WTH” phenomenon. Just unbelievable! As she stood on the stage in top 5, she was obviously trying to move her body in a sensuous manner – hips, pursing her lips in a kiss, etc. It was ludicrous, no c lass at all, like an animated cartoon, like a joke. I halfway expected the hosts of “You’ve been punked” to come on stage any minute. It was ridiculous, and an offense to all those girls who came prepared to present themselves as physically fit and as beautiful women of distinction. The ultimate was her interview. She was asked if she is a leader or a follower (which, in fairness to her and in criticism of the judge, is a bad question, cuz there’s really only one “right” choice). Though I can’t quote her exactly, she said in a loud, aggressive, almost defiant manner: “I am a leader. Oh yeh, I do what I want to do when I want to do it. I am up front and on top!” Like I say, I can’t remember the exact words, but I know the last sentence is an exact quote. Yikes! It exuded class alright – low class. She scared me, and I can only imagine what Keith Lewis is thinking now and what kind of year he has in store. You’d probably have to see it on video to get the impact.

After the top 5 was assembled, I still had hope of redemption and thought the bizarre nightmare would soon come to an end. My rating would have been:
1. Winner: Carrie Prejean. Not a great interview, but not bad either. I would have picked her cuz her face has a classical, sculpted, almost mysterious beauty – she had the best chance IMO to place at MUSA. Plus her body was great, stage ready for USA, and she’s got great, full-bodied hair. EG also fabulous IMO.
2. 1RU: Nicole Chiu. She was not on my radar screen at all coming into finals night, but she grew on me as the evening progressed. A classy, Chinese-American girl, articulate and poised in interview; had a great red EG. Though not my choice, I thought she might have a chance to place at USA cuz of her unique ethnic look.
3. 2RU: Raquel Beezley. Very cute, sweet, seems very likeable – and loads of people were pulling for her! Her body was the best I’ve ever seen it – kudos to her! She was USA ready physically, and I l oved the SS she wore. I was not as fond of her EG, and I thought she was just a little timid in her presentation, especially in EG. Not sure her facial beauty would make the cut at USA, but I would not have been at all disappointed if she won.
4. 3RU: Woodland Hills. Really pretty face. Her EG, however, was one of my least favorite.
5. 4RU: Cristina Silva. This girl was a hot mess all night. Unbelievable to think she could make 4RU, let alone win this darn thing. Plain EG that did not reach the floor. Body completely out of shape with no chance of redemption – short of stature, no curves, no waist, no muscle tone. Odd pasture and movement all night. Ridiculous, over-the-top, obnoxious presentation. No class. An embarrassment from start to finish. Never saw anything like it before. Hope to never see anything like it again.

Well, needless to say, when they read the results I thought they must have mistakenly read them in reverse order. The whole place fell silent . In shock. “There must be a mistake,” I thought. And indeed there was. A tragic mistake. My opinion, BTW, has nothing to do with race; I had no idea she was a Latina until interview, and I (and everyone else) was completely turned off long before that. Many of the non-Anglo women were beautiful and classy and among my favorites. But this girl was crass, tactless, obnoxious. She has absolutely no chance whatsoever at MUSA unless The Donald is preparing the way for more in-your-face, low class controversy on Pageant Place. From this point of view, and in light of what has happened in MUO in the last year, I thought it was a very sad day for pageantry. I went home feeling sick, even though I am just a fan and have no stake in this. This kind of result really hurts pageantry IMO. It discourages contestants from competing, and obviously inhibits viewers (unless, of course, you want to see pole dancing, mud wrestling, burping girls, or other reality show garbage).

As for th e judges, I cannot imagine what happened or what they were thinking. It’s not rational. I mean, doesn’t a director instruct his or her judges to “find me a winner who can excel at or win MUSA - and that means her face needs to be gorgeous, she needs to be classy and distinguished, and her body needs to be smokin’ (or close enough to be transformed into such in 2 to 3 months).” I do not want to be mean-spirited, but nobody in their right mind would pick Miss Silva as fitting this description. In fact, none of those things are remotely true of her. So I blame her for her bad behavior, but I blame the judges for picking her, unless they received bad instructions from the director, or he from MUO.

Anyway, on a happier note, a number of formers were present and looked great, for the most part. Meagan looked good. Kylee had an adorable pink & black dress at prelims and looked great all weekend. They did a great job as MCs at prelims. In fact, as good as Kylee was on sta g e this weekend, it’s hard to figure how she didn’t place at TUSA. Not sure what went wrong – maybe confidence, as she was very young. Brittany Hogan did a good job as co-MC at Finals, and she looked fabulous! She did a good job of thinking on her feet and playing off of the other co-host – Sam. I could see her in acting or hosting a show. Very natural and likeable. Stephanie Brink was in the crowd Finals night with a mega-watt “presence,” gorgeous and wearing a hot red dress – looked like she could’ve hopped on stage and competed on the spot (and in retrospect I wish she had). Saw Candace Sanders at prelims, very thin but exotic looking, though I wish those sheep-dog bangs would go out of style. And obviously Ellen Chapman was in the house too, though I didn’t talk to her or get too close. And Katie Blair - saw her close up in the foyer. I liked her when she won, but was less impressed up close, perhaps in part because she’s got about 3-4 inches of dark roots showing in her h air. That’s a no-no in my book. Anyway, that’s who I saw.

I had never been to the Orpheum Theater before; it’s a nice old theater in a not very nice part of downtown L.A. Just a block away there was a huge billboard advertising YMI jeans, with a picture of Riyo, Rachel, & Hilary. I thought that was cool; wonder if it was planned.

Well, that’s my report; and, like pretty much everyone else, I’m still scratching my head.

Quit whining

Heres the deal:
Christina Silva- Yes you won that night, you were crowned. You had your time to shine. You are the winner. May not be the correct winner. But you WON! that night you won! thats what the fans saw, the videos, the photos. Thats who was crowned that night at the Orpheum theater. CHRISTINA SILVA! She was robbed of this experience of a lifetime in which she thought she won. She is a brilliant woman. A Ecuadorian American, the President of Ecuador called to congratuate her family for heavens sake! why take this from the poor girl!

Keith Lewis- Should be FIRED!!

Miss Universe organization- Needs to fire Keith Lewis immediatly or there will be 0 contestants for text years pageant. However, im sure Mr. Trump loves all of this exposure!

Raquel Beezley- After seeing her on air i couldnt do anything but shake my head, and ask myself, “thats who is our MISS CALIFORNIA USA”? are you serious.. This ditzy girl from Barstow? who has been doing pageants since she was 13. if She was honestly that great, dont you think she would have been discovered already? and not keep doing pageants over and over again. its inevitable, you will win if you are THAT much rehearsed and trained. She is NOT natural! i cannot believe she is our winner. At least Miss Silva is poised, doesnt keep touching her hair every 5 seconds, and says.. “yea…yea… umm no i dont think we put too much emphasis on outer beauty”. look at her obviously she doesnt have the brains… or beauty really. Hopefully Mr. Lewis can train this girl to speak. How on earth did she win. im sure in her interview she was the same ditzy girl she is all the time.

Miss California USA has a lot of work to do with this one… good luck at USA

WOW! I was a contestant in the pageant and was sad for Chritina when this all happened but thought Raquel would do a better job at USA- until today. Watching her on TV was kind of embarrassing… I can’t believe how ditzey she came off. California needs beauty and brains- K2 can you do a better job at picking judges next year? please…

I’m sorry but I do not understand the fascination with these pageants. I am an extremely attractive female - easily could have modeled in my early twenties but chose a different path. I do not hate on any of these beautiful women for their choice to participate in this, in my opinion, shallow, degrading pageant. But, when I heard Miss Beezely speaking today on several ‘news’ channels, it was like finger nails on a chalk board. In all the interviews she sounded like a ditzy idiot. In between her squeaky, I’m-so-cute-hee-hee-I-don’t-need-to-use-my-brain laugh, were inarticulate, thoughtless - or no answer at all - to questions asked. Most commentators needed to finish her thought for her. I’m sorry but I do not follow these pageants so maybe this one is won strictly on beauty, which she is undoubtedly, but please, someone tell me that this is not supposed to be otherwise because it doesn’t make sense for females to be awarded such notoriety, along with the responsibility of setting an example for younger females, when they can not even articulate a statement or sound mature enough to handle such a position. Just my opinion.

I don’t understand why ignorant people are bashing either contestants, it’s not their fault. You should focus on what the real problem is. The problem is the organization who is in charge of this pageant, not the girls. So please have a little sense and mainly class and stop saying such horrible untrue things about Cristina and Raquel. I really want to beleive that this world is not full of idiots.
