Marie Osmond's Son Enters Rehab

Marie Osmond’s 16-year-old son has entered rehab, the star revealed last night on “Larry King Live.”

Marie, 48, didn’t reveal why Michael entered a facility last week or where the program is behind held.

“He's dealing with a lot of issues," she told Larry King. "I don't know that I feel comfortable talking for him. I think he'll have to deal with that."

The “Dancing with the Stars” beauty also issued a statement about the news, saying, “My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him. The press and public have always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time.”

Michael, who is adopted, is one of eight kids Marie has raised with ex-husband Brian Blosil.

"I will say this," Marie said. "My son is amazing. He's dealing with a lot. He's one of my kids. He's dealing with adoption issues and all kinds of things right now."

The past few weeks have been rough for Marie. Last week, her father George died at age 90. Before that, she fainted on national television after a “Dancing” routine.

Still, Marie has shown resiliency throughout her tumultuous month.

After her collapse, she told “Extra,” “You just have to pull up the boot straps and go for it again.”

I was a big Osmonds fan, and I continued to read about them long after their heyday. I remember reading an interview with the youngest of the Hudson Brothers (Brett) whom I’d never heard of (being British. He stated that he thought Marie was beautiful and he wanted to marry her but because she was a Mormon he didn’t think her family would allow it.I’m damned if I can remember which magazine this interview was in though (it would have been round about 1980-82?

There is another site (similar, comments on news stories involving Marie) where a woman named Sally is making the same accusation, and using the same Spelling of Brett with a single ‘T’.

Where would we know Bret Hudson from?

Bret Hudson did rape Marie Osmond when she was a teenager. I knew Marie and Bret back in the day. I, too, no longer keep in contact with them. I know this to be FACT. Marie told me herself. :( We both cried because I, too, was raped. No, not, by B.H. !!!! If I was, I would of told the world! However, Marie decided not to tell anyone of “the Bret Incident” as she calls it because she does not want to connected to him. She just wants to forget. I understand this completely because I want to forget my past too. It is very hard on us and people judge us. They should point the fingers at Bret!!!!!! And all the rapists of the world!!!! NOT the victims!!! :(

Marie Osmond did NOT reveal this secret because it was difficult enough to deal with the other rapes. I know this because I use to know Marie when I was 16. We are no longer in contact. Besides, Marie wants to keep Bret OUT of the spotlight because his name would always come up and she wants to just forget about it.

I am with Susan and Jody on this. Brett Hudson would have never done anything like that. As a matter of fact, Mark and Brett talked fondly of The Osmonds during a session at The Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago this past summer. Marie Osmond has a lot of problems and let’s leave it at that. Some of them she brought on herself by being too perfectionistic, which she admitted in her book.

LOL..you guys HAVE to be kidding me! First of all for this to come out NOW is like a joke! Like it’s laughable to me!
Brett would never risk going to jail at the height of their career, not only that but with the chicks he had literally THROWING it in his face on a daily basis, he wouldn’t have to force himself on anyone! TRUST ME!!!!!!
How do I know this? Coz I witnessed it practically first hand, that’s how!
I can’t believe people out there are this SICK that they obviously have nothing better to do but spread idiotic and ugly rumors online about two people who already had their hey day and should basically be left alone! It was what? 35 years ago????? C’mon!
In my opinion? Just with all the times Marie has been married alone, I’d say SHE is the one with the issues!
..boy will she be pissed if Donny wins on “DWTS” as she dared him to try…LOL

It makes no sense for Brett Hudson to be brought into this. Why?
From what I recall reading, and I am open to correction, the Hudsons and the Osmonds only overlapped sharing space for maybe 3-4 days. Why would Brett risk anything when he would have had not only the parents to contend with, but all of the brothers? How could they even find seclusion?
Brett had opportunity to date many women during the 70s, his choice really, he was so adored. He is mostly known for dating older women, and marrying one. Taking a chance, consentually or non consentualy with a very famous 14 year old is so not his style.
In a salute to 16 magazine published around 1996, Bill spoke of Alan Osmond phoning up the Hudsons a 6 am and asking them to attend Mormon information type sessions. Why would the family want that kind of contact if Brett did something awful?
Did you just guess out of thin air to form your opinion, or are you close to Marie and or her family? What rumours do you base this on? Did Brett confess this to you?
I’d love an explantion on this. I have seen an online website that listed depression and a possible rape in Marie’s past. This has me curious. (and that webiste had no basis for their conclusion, I believe, and did not name names).

All I can say is that I believe tha Marie was raped at 14 by Brett hudson, wh was living with her family at the time in Westwood. I could be wrong, but it’s doubtful. And look at Marie’s 2 failed marriages, she picked guys that were sure to dump on her. And now she wants nothting to do with men - go figure.

Maries didn’t look that shocked to me at the time. It looked more planned in my opinion. The only thing that may have bothered her is that they promised ET the first scoop on Mike. And they got it! No biggies.

I watch Larry King because He has interesting guests and he does ask interesting questions but sometimes he acts like he has no class. I think what he did was a slip of the tongue. I do not think he even thought about it. He certainly did not act like he did anything wrong. He owes Marie an apology. I think larry should think about retiring.

I couldn’t agree more…….I believe Larry King just hit a new low of TV journalism…..King demonstratred a lack of any kind of flow to the interview and I can’t even tell what the actual point of the interview was? How lazy to go from ah Marie you’re a great entertainer to oh I hear your son is in rehab……I used to appreciate hearing different sides of personalities on the Larry King show, but that show has been burned off my TV and cable….I also heard that CNN was a little miffed when Oprah hosted 100 Osmonds for the 50th reunion versus CNN…..poor losers……..

Larry King is an Osmond friend, especially Marie’s. His wife is Marie’s best friend. He knew about it probably from her. His assistant or (maybe she does not work with him anymore)was Patti, another of Marie’s best friend. She is like Maries sister. He has no class. To have a friend do that, I would end the friendship. He had no right. He should have offered his support offstage, not on. She should have walked off.I do not care how classy she is, her look stated “How dare he”. Donny stated the truth to him several times, yet he still did not get it. Sometimes it is classier when you let your friends know how you feel and if they pass it, cancel their friendship. Marie has also been rude at times to fans, whether they want to know it or not. She has been rude, she uses her laughter as a protection device. When you laugh that much, you are hiding something. Someone who never states the identity of who raped her, yet at the same time say she loves women and wants the best for them -is hyprocritical. How can you be courageous yet tell women not to tell because you are scared. It is in spite of your fear you must say it, and heal. She will never be healed, if she tells her brother just what is appropriate for her. God bless Marie and her son

Larry didn’t have any class last night when he asked Marie a very private question about her son. My god he is only 16 and now he will have to deal with everyone in the world knowing his problems. Larry you just added another brick to his load.

I was shocked as I watched Larry King ask Marie Osmond about her sixteen year old son. The look on her and Donny’s face’s was as they were thinking “What does that have to do with this interview”?. Does Larry King not understand what “Off Topic” means?
God Speed Marie.
Shame on you Larry.

larry king showed a deplorable lack of class when asking marie osmond about her son. it had nothing to do with 50years in show business, her dad, or dancing with the stars. If he has any sense at all he will offer her a public apology for how he treated her. The damage has been done, but Marie showed the world they type of lady she is.
