Is Maksim Quitting 'Dancing?'

Maksim Chmerkovskiy was long thought to take the "Dancing" crown with Mel B., but is the runner-up now swearing off the show for good?

Mad Maks told "Extra" last night he may have other plans now that season five has wrapped.

"If this is the limit of where I can get in a show, then let it be," Maks said. "I'm satisfied and moving on."

He also revealed he's already got several other projects lined up, including a show in Sin City.

I love Max. He is a great dancer who speaks his mind. I would not care if you do not like it because he speaks out. He told the truth, and as always, the truth hurts. Take all the time you need and then come back refresh. U R GREAT! And U were a welcome sight last night. U 2 Mel B.

Maks did nothing wrong. He had every right to name a contestant whom he felt was weaker than others who were sent home first. Sometimes all the “everyone’s a winner”, dancing around questions like “who should be voted off next” gets to the point of being fake. Nobody names names because they’re afraid to. Maks has the courage to say what’s on his mind, and that is an asset, not a liability. Sometimes all the warmth and fuzziness on the set of DWTS needs a little cooldown, and it was refreshing to hear Maks provide it. I hope he does plan to return next season and every season, because the show would not be the same without him.

Ok Maks could have left after last season if he had sooooo many other things to do. I think that after his “outspoken comments” the producers may have had enough of the DIVA in Maks. I used to like Maks a couple seasons ago but he was on EXTRA as one of the eligible bachelors and I realized what a butt he is. He cannot find and keep a woman in his life because he is too stuck on himself. He said some hurtful things about the other stars and it didn’t help his chances of winning. Yes DWTS IS entertainment not JUST a dance competition. The stars and professionals are voted on and both have fan bases. Maks should consider it may be his arrogant attitude that keeps him from the trophy.

No shock he said on his message board before this season started that this would be his last for a while, he has other things in pipe like the Wynn show in Vegas. I will miss him but respect his choices

I’m going to miss Maks like crazy, but understand why he would not come back. I wish him and Mel well in everything that they both do in the future, and predict that the ratings for DWTS drop like a rock without him.

Maks is simply the best professional on DWTS. Last year and this year he had 2 celebs, that actually listened to him, and wanted to win. Laila and Mel B are amazingly talented in what they do, and they both along with Maks brought true talent to DWTS. Maks is one, if not the ONLY reason I watch DWTS. So, if he don’t come back next year, neither will I, watching it on my tv. I wish him the best in everything he does!

I am sure the votes for Mel/Maks and Julianne/Julio were really close and the it could have easily gone either way. It has been shown in previous years that the “best” dancers are not the ones that necessarily win.

+++++++++++

DUH. Maks has a valid point. THE BEST DANCER SHOULD WIN, NOT THE CUTEST GUY OR THE GUY WITH THE FLASHIEST PERSONALITY. Last year Laila & Maks were clearly the most versatile and polished. The same was true this year of Mel & Maks.

And the truth of the matter is that JULIANE’S CHOREOGRAPHY SHOWCASES HER TALENT, NOT HER CELEBRITY PARTNEER. And the few times when Helio & Apolo had to do the bulk of the dancing, they didn’t score as well. Helio was fun, but he was hardly ever on the beat and his footwork was atrocious!

By the time DWTS finished it looked like Mel B had been a professional ballroom dancer for 10 years. I couldn’t even say that about Laila Ali last year and I thought she was fantastic.

My only quibble with M&M this year is that their first 2 dances in the final round weren’t as dynamic as they could have been. After the 2 Paso Dobles and the Viennese Waltz that they did? They definitely could’ve blown everyone else out of the water. Maybe if they had, then fans wouldn’t have left the door open for Helio to win.

In the end, though, Helio as the winner and Mel in second was about what can you expect from an audience that let Marie Osmond clunk her way into the final! If ever there was a travesty on this show, Marie Osmond in the final 3 was surely it. Speaking of It…Cousin It would be a better dancer - ballroom, ballet, hip-hop, clogger, etc. - than the God-awful Marie Osmond. If Maks can take any solace at all in finishing second it will be that at least Marie Osmond didn’t win the whole shebang!

I hope Maks is professional enough to be gracious about being “runner up” and doesn’t leave because he didn’t win.

He is great fun to watch dance and I’ll be terribly disappointed not to see him again.

Some of you talk about M&M’s attitude, when really you should check your own. I think the biggest problem that some have with them, is that neither one are of American birth. The fact that Maks is Russian and spoke the truth about Marie Osmond, an American, is the real problem here.

I don’t see how M&M having fun, not at the expense of others and doing amazing dances, week after week, could possibly be confused with having a bad attitude and thinking they were better then everyone else.

To the dope that said that they did nothing but slander the other people on the show…Do you get a different verison of it then I do? If you are referring to Maks saying that there were better dancers then Marie, that’s not slander, that’s the truth. You should look up words that you clearly donot know the meaning to before you use them. And to say that you would spit on Maks if you saw him…Yeah, sure you would. And if you did, you would be arrested for assult.

And if people actually watched DWTS, objectively, you would have seen, in the confessionals, that Mel admitted to screwing up the choreography for the freestyle. So, the routine that Maks choreographed wasn’t the problem, it was the fact that Mel lost her focus.

I’m sure that narrow minded people, who don’t know Maks, thinks that this is sour grapes. The words of a sore loser. But for those of us that know him and I do, he wasn’t even certain he wanted to come back for this season. He is extremely busy with his 2 studio’s and hundreds of students, back home in New Jersey. He misses his family and friends. He also has numbers for a Las Vegas show, Le Reve, to choreograph. Maks works his butt off for his sport and profession and it’s insulting to say that he’s a sore loser.

And FYI…Maks does his own choreography on DWTS, where some of the others, who are always being praised for thiers and take credit for it, do not.
