Farrah Fawcett: Recovery is 'Ongoing'

Farrah Fawcett is finally opening up about her cancer battle, giving only “Extra” a candid and emotional interview about her recovery.

“I’m doing well,” Farrah told “Extra” as she left a hospital in Santa Monica last night. “Never can say for sure. It’s ongoing.”

The “Charlie’s Angels” star received devastated news in May, when she learned her intestinal cancer had returned. Vowing to fight, Farrah flew to Germany for alternative treatment. Now Farrah is proving she’s still got her sense of humor intact!

“You know, it’s filled with Germans,” Farrah quipped when asked about her time there.

In a rare and raw confession, Farrah then revealed the toll her treatments have taken on her.

“Tiring, yes. I felt much better when I was sick!” she said. “It’s the curing it.”

Still, Farrah said her treatments “went well.” She’s also taking steps to recover her physical strength.

“I’ve been doing Pilates and weights,” she said.

She’s also got the support of longtime love Ryan O’Neal and fans around the world.

“You know, everybody says they are praying for me,” she said. “I have to get well – so many people are praying.”

Dear Farrah, I have been a fan for many years. I remember getting the Farrah barbie doll as a child and using the shampoo with your name on it. Wow, time goes by fast. It breaks my heart to see you go through this struggle. You have shown much bravery and grace with your battle against cancer. Calling cancer a terrorist is very appropriate when you think about how is behaves. I pray for a miracle from God but if he wants you more, then you will be gracing us with that beautiful smile from heaven above. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family. If the good Lord decides to send for you, I hope you get to feel the raindrops, if only for a second…God Bless

I know what you are going though. I’ve had breast cancer (double mastectomy), then brain cancer and then 4 seizures. But I had many people praying for me (some I didn’t even know). And I am still here.I believe in the power of prayer…and you have many people praying for you, including me. My husband takes good care of me. As you are taken good care of. Carolyn

am so sorry Farrah! You were my HOPE! I have colon cancer also, diagnosed in June 2008. I’ve had radiation and chemo, and on April 14th I will be having my rectum and anus removed. This news has frightened me so much as I was terrified before, but thought of how well Farrah was doing. I was told I had the cancer for 10 years, and the tumor was huge! I’d sure like to know why it wasn’t caught during my annual physicals when a finger was inserted checking for any abnormalities. Does anyone agree with that? I was told that if I don’t have the surgery there is a 100% GUARANTEE that the cancer would return and I’d die. I was in the high stage 3! Gosh the tumor was coming out of my anus, but the nurse practioner didn’t feel it 5 months before during my annual physical? When I told her how constipated I was, and about the bleeding she told me to take 2 tablespoons of milk of magnesia in prune juice and drink it every night! A few months later I felt something coming out of me and the bleeding was worse. Does anyone know if Farrah had her rectum and anus removed? My apologies for this lengthy post. I am so SCARED I’m hoping someone could ease my fears. I am 59 years old, and when I look at my 3 Grandsons, and another on the way, I don’t want to die! The oldest at 6 is very close to me, and I don’t want him to go thru grief as that is the worse emotion! My thoughts and prayers are with Farrah and her loved ones! PLEASE OVERCOME THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE FARRAH! GOD BLESS YOU!

My name was Anne Morris at Mayfair. I consider you my friend and follow your career closely. I apologize for all the idiots with a camera and wish for your speedy recovery. I went on to be an elementary and high school computer science teacher and am now comfortably retired after 30 years experience in the teaching field. I don’t regret my teaching choice; I even taught Algebra to Jamie Foxx (Eric Bishop).
My heart goes out to you with your struggles; I so admire your response to cancer and life. You are unceasingly a terrifically strong individual, even in college when most inclined to be superficial. You, at all times, regarded everyone with warmth and value even when your life was beginning to change so radically. You are one of the real people. I am so thankful I had an opportunity to know you in our college days.

Farrah,
I just found out that my sister has breast cancer and it has gone to her bones already. She had just lost her 29 year old daughter (my Niece) in April and it has been a very tough year for the all of us.She’s my very best friend and I just can’t imagine her not here with me. I just ask that everyone say a prayer for her and of course I pray that you improve too with your illness. You are a remarkable woman. God Bless You.

Farrah, you are a naturally beautiful woman…no makeup required. The interviewer was very insensative to your situation…needs sensativity training, Texas Style. Keep up the good fight. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Bill

Extra —- this is NOT an interview, this is simply following a person with a camera while they are trying to get in a car after leaving a medical facility. There is one thing “interviewing” people —- when they are on a red carpet or leaving a restaurant.

Oh, and you say its the only interview, saw the SAME thing on another show.

Good luck to Farrah — but Extra is like all shows, ignores peoples privacy especially facing illnesss. No class.
