Kanye West Cancels Performance

“Extra” has learned that Kanye West has canceled his performance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show following the death of his mom and best friend, Donda.

The show, which films today at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, will feature a performance by the Spice Girls and will air Dec. 4 on CBS.

Donda, 58, died Saturday just hours after receiving a tummy tuck and breast reduction by Dr. Jan Adams. Results from an autopsy are expected in 6-8 weeks. A coroner says the cause of death, for now, is being described as “complications of surgery.”

Reports say Kanye didn’t even know his mother was getting surgery. Her funeral will be held next week in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held this week at Chicago State University, where Donda once chaired the English department.

Yesterday, one of Dr. Adams’ former patients came forward with her own disastrous surgery experience.

Gina Cloud, who was treated by Dr. Adams over ten years ago, filed suit after a botched procedure to remove excess skin following the birth of her daughter.

“I had four procedures with him,” she told “Extra.” “I kept foolishly letting him try to correct it. It was really traumatic… the most difficult thing I’ve even been through.”

“Extra” also spoke to Dr. Pearlman D. Hicks, Dr. Adams’ uncle and former business partner. Dr. Hicks, who ended his professional relationship with Dr. Adams almost ten years ago, said, “I got the feeling he wanted to be more of a celebrity kind of physician.”

Multiple malpractice lawsuits have come to light following Donda’s death. Now the Discovery Health Network has announced it will no longer broadcast episodes of “Plastic Surgery: Before and After,” hosted by Dr. Adams. He had been hosting the series for years until its final episode aired in June. The network will no longer show the repeat episodes.

When you have surgery you must sign a consent to surgery and that states the risks of surgery and one of the risks is death. I am sorry to hear of Kanyes moms passing but it is a risk of any surgery not just cosmetic.

Kanye should file a lawsuit! My mother passed last year and she was my everything and her passing was unexpected while she was having surgery relating to dialysis. I was definitely prepared to sue and I requested an autopsy to find out if the hospital was negligent in any way. Kanye should make sure Dr. Jan Adams is “shut down” for good!!! He was so negligent. I wonder if she was properly cleared to have the surgery, since there was a pre-existing medical issue; What about the 24hour observation following the surgery; Dr. Jan Adams is not even qualified to be called “doctor”. The laws should be changed to require any doctor who wants to practice plastic surgery to become board certified.

It may have been his mother’s choice to get surgery, but, it’s clear that maybe Dr. Adams should re-study his study or find another job. He does not take his job seriously to have “mistakingly” goofed up on soooo many patients. Maybe when surgeons are not “good” surgeons they should be put on blast on the regular so they won’t get as many patients.

While I fell terrible for Kanye West and his family, people need to remember that cosmetic surgery is ELECTIVE. No one is forced to undergo it, and the risks - including death - are outlined verbally and in the documents the patient is required to sign. If the unimaginable happens, while it may be tragic, the family should understand the patient chose to accept the risk. Lawsuits should NOT be permitted in cosmetic surgeries.

I think people need to leave Dr Jan Adams alone. The west family and even anyone getting surgery had every right to do their homework on this doctor before they under went surgery. I feel bad that he lost his mom and i couldn’t even imagine giving how close they were. But now is not the time to try to dig up the man’s dirty laundry. chances are if miss west stop breathing it was a pulmanary embalisim (i’m not a doctor so spelling could be an issue) and I’m not a doctor.Blacks are in jeoprdy of blod clotting especially after a major surgery.I think it’s wrong to attact that man’s career now when they could have done it when those other woman so called had a problem with him before I think because the circumstance was that a celebrity’s mother was involved now people pay attention.

What’s your problem. He had all the rights to cancel the show! His mother died because of that STUPID doctor. He should be sued as a doctor and never perform surgery again.

This guy should grow up and “man up.” He is cancelling a show days after his Mother’s death. People whom wish to see him perform are to be disappointed. What ever happened to the entertainers that believed in “the show must go on.” Now, they believe in a new mantra:
The hell with the show. I have a hangnail.

As for the Doc. The media is condemming him before there is evidence. Kanye should not file before evidence.
