Dr. Jan Adams stunned Larry King last night when he abruptly left a live taping of the show just minutes after sitting down.
The surgeon at the center of the controversy surrounding the death of Donda West refused to answer any questions, telling King, “I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the West family. They asked me not to go on.”
As King stared, Adams continued, “I'm going to apologize to you because I think I'm taking up your airtime, but I will not be on the show and I will not discuss any of that. I'm going to honor their wishes."
“Will you ever answer questions ... where does this go?" King asked him.
“I will talk with them. When they're comfortable, then I'll be comfortable,” the doctor responded.” If they're never comfortable, then I'll never be comfortable. They are what's important to me."
As Adams began to get up, King asked, “Don’t you want to speak out?”
Tearing his microphone off of him, Adams replied, “No…I do not,” and walked off the set.
King later told CNN, “The whole night was crazy.”
Adams was to appear on “Larry King Live” to clarify rumors surrounding Donda’s death, which is being preliminarily called the result of surgery or anesthesia. An investigation is ongoing, but Adams told The Los Angeles Times that he did nothing wrong in the Nov. 10 procedure. He suggested that Donda, 58, could have died from an overdose of the prescribed painkiller Vicodin.
Adams even insisted, “I believe I know exactly what happened to her, but I will not comment on it until I see the final report.”
