Report: Dennis Quaid’s Newborn Twins Accidentally Overdosed

Dennis Quaid and his family are in crisis today as his baby twins are reportedly fighting for their lives at a local hospital in Los Angeles.

TMZ says the fraternal twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were accidentally given 10,000 units of Heparin, an anti-coagulant used to treat blood clots. Normally, babies receive just 10 units.

A dosage that high – 1,000 times stronger than normal – reportedly caused massive blood loss.

The twins were born to Dennis and his wife Kimberly Buffington via surrogate on Nov. 8.

Right now the twins are in neo-natal intensive care, reportedly receiving a drug that reverses the effects of Heparin.

It makes me angry to think that this can happen. Now is the time to pray for the children and the families. Once the babies recover fire all involved in this case. These nurses should be ashamed of them selfs for what they have done.

I will send my prayers to your family as I know how difficult it can be to watch helpless as they work to make your children better! Just know that your voice and your presents helps them to feel better.

As an R.N. I am concerned about this incident as it is becoming far too common! As an R.N. in Texas, it is mandatory that two R.N.’s check the heparin before being administered. The validation of correct drug, correct dosage is required. It appears that the five rights of medication administration were not followed. I am saddened that Dennis and his wife are having to go through this as it could have been prevented. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

This is very sad. It is very unfortunate that you Cannot sue for medical malpractice in California. There is a cap of 250,000 on these cases and not worth any attorneys time. Most attorneys will not take the case and state a conflict of interest, probably because they are paid by / or on Cedars payroll. If your case is heard it will only be heard by a medical board assembled by Cedars and not a regular jury. Its a terrible law that has been in place since the 70’s and it needs to be changed. Doctors basically can get away with murder several times over without any repercussions. My heart goes out to Dennis and his family, and anyone else who has suffered at the hands of Cedars Sinai ( myself included)

I cant believe that happend. My prayers go out to the twins and their parents. The person that adminstered that much heparin, should be fired! They werent looking and paying attention to what they were doing. If that person had a brain then they would know that giving that much heparin in deadly! Fire them!
