Britney Spears’ new album “Blackout” has failed to take the No. 1 spot on the charts. Instead, the disc is registering at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, behind The Eagles’ latest effort, “Long Road Out of Eden.”
“Blackout” sold around 290,000 copies in its first week, though “Eden” sold 711,000. Even country cutie Carrie Underwood’s latest disc “Carnival Ride” fared better, with 527,000 copies sold in its first week of release.
Early estimates had put Brit’s latest effort at the No.1 spot. Her record label guessed the album would sell up to 350,000 copies upon its release.
Her last disc, 2003’s “In the Zone,” sold 609,000 in its first week.

“BILLBOARD decided to change “their rules” and COUNT WalMart! The Eagles were sold excusively to WalMart, and NO one else.
This UNFAIR and UNJUST …I like The Eagles, but this was WRONG! Wrong to do to BRIT, and wrong to do to her fans!”
So, the Eagles sell way more than twice as many albums, and it’s unjust to deny them the #1 slot? Even more, they are selling their album only in one outlet, which would make it harder to sell… in other words, they probably would have beat Britney even more if they hadn’t been selling just in Wal-Mart. Face it, Britney has been beaten, fair and square, and this will, the album has sold far less… it’s a flop folks, face it. She’s toast.
