Isaiah Washington: 'I Thought My Career Was Over'

Isaiah Washington is opening up to “Extra” like never before, admitting he feared his acting career was over when he lost his job on “Grey’s Anatomy” in a gay slur scandal.

“I remember everyone coming down on me, like, ‘He will never work in Hollywood again,’” Isaiah said. “I have to take the hit for that, so to speak. But I’ve moved on.”

Now the 44-year-old actor is suddenly finding himself one of the stars of another hit series, “Bionic Woman.”

“It’s almost like déjà vu,” he admitted.

“Bionic Woman” is a ratings smash hit, nearly equaling the number of viewers of the “Grey’s” spin-off, “Private Practice.”

Isaiah said he’s confident things will stay that way.

“This show is not going away,” he promised.

As for speculation about a viewer backlash against Isaiah, newcomer Michelle Ryan, who plays the title character in the show, said she’s standing by her man.

“I can only judge someone as I find them," she said. "And he’s been brilliant to work with and he’s so professional and passionate."

Meanwhile, Isaiah is trying to ignore his critics: “I couldn’t have any time of day to worry about what people are thinking, because I’m too busy trying to learn the dialogue on this show!”

Still miss Dr. Burke on the Gray’s show. It’s like they took away their magic ingredient and threw it into the sea. Isaiah was very hot and attractive and really rocked the show. Hope Gray’s finds the way to correct the huge injustice of media/gays and gets him back. I totally hope this time the vicious attacks of not so shadowy gays stay focussed on more imp issues and leaves off persecuting this man.

That’s what I said about Michael Richards, Don Imus, and Mel Gibson, and, yeah, everybody else who has mis-spoken! Why is Isaiah getting all the empathy? None of the other guys did.I guess he didn’t have sharpton behind him, stirring up some sh@#.

Good luck to Isiah. He made a mistake. Its a shame that more of his cast mates (and they know who they are) did not stand stand up for him more knowing he was trying his best to make it right.
Anyway I am glad he acknowledged what he did wrong an moved on. He was such an phenomenal actor on Grey’s Anatomy and my friends and I missed him so much on it.
We watched Bionic Woman just to see him and what a show!!! It was fantastic.
Good luck my man. I am so happy or you and your family that you have another chance at this. Bless!!!!

I agree with the above comment. Isiah made a mistake like all the rest of us do and should be forgiven(after all he is not OJ Simpson) He is a great actor and I may start watching The Bionic Woman just to see him back on tv. Grey’s Anatomy’s loss is Bionic Woman’s gain, I say.

we have all did it,,,we have all made mistakes..he is a good actor and I hope he does well..I no longer watch grey’s because they fired him for making a gay slur but they think adultery is ok..look at the content of the show..practice what you preach about morals
