Hugh Laurie Battling Depression

“House” star Hugh Laurie has revealed that he is battling depression.

The British actor flew home to London last week to reunite with his wife and three kids. He returned to the set yesterday, but told the Sydney Daily Telegraph this weekend that he was “drained” by the show’s success and missed his family.

Hugh, 48, also revealed that he thinks about the show constantly. “I’m too neurotic and too anal and too convinced that we're going to fail to relax,” he says. “I'm looking for things to go wrong. I'm not rejoicing or lying back and enjoying it."

Hugh, now one of the highest paid actors on television, also revealed that he continues to see a therapist periodically.

Mr. Laurie,
I cannot begin to tell you how talented I think you are. You say more with you eyes than any other actor I have ever seen. You are outstanding at your craft. It must be very difficult for you to be away from your family and that makes me sad for you. I myself struggle with depression, however that one hour I watch HOUSE it takes me away from my pain. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hi Hugh,

I love the show and look forward in watching it every week. House is the one show that my two sons, husband and I watch together, as a family every week; we get excited and plan the evening. Being with my family is what brings me great joy.

If you are not feeling the true joy of your success by doing the show, than you are succeeding at the wrong thing. I don’t think you need a therapist to tell you that.

I can only imagine the emptiness and loneliness Mr. Laurie must feel, being so far from home and family. A HUGE sacrifice that we’re truely grateful for. Hugh Laurie saved me from TV boredom. We appreciate your immense talent and contributions to TV, Film, Music and charities, here in the USA.

I know how Hugh is feeling. There are days when I just want to cry, days when I just want to hit my head in the wall, days when I want to be alone, and days when I just want to be loved by my family and friends… But I try to be strong… And I’m sure Hugh will be okay very soon!

House is a GREAT show…….Hugh is a
great actor……But he has a right
to be depressed over season 4 start up
with the hideous, no talent new doctors
added to the cast. They are horrific.
So…………..Hugh…..I would be a
little nervous to. Go back to the ORIGINAL CAST and DUMP the new BRADY
BUNCH and ROCHESTER new crew.

Man, if I’d been living in a different country than my spouse and three kids, I probably would have shot a cast member by now. Laurie, thank you for the sacrifices you make to give us our show!

Hugh, I have been a huge fan for years. My 4 year old loves you from the Stuart Little movies.

I too have suffered from depression in the past. I have no words of wisdom but know that you are well loved and your success is immeasurable. You have provided joy and inspiration to millions of people. That and your children are your greatest success.
