Carrie Ann: 'I Didn't Mean to Insult Mel B!'

Dancing with the Stars” host Carrie Ann Inaba is speaking out about a comment she made to Melanie Brown last night that left the Spice Girl stunned.

“When you open your mouth, you’re kind of like a truck driver,” Carrie Ann told Mel B. after her dance number.

A shocked Mel responded, “What?”

Now Carrie Ann is telling “Extra” she wants to set the record straight.

“I didn't mean it in a negative way,” she insisted. “I wasn't insulting her, but she's kind of gruff when she talks. She's very strong, and I love that because I kind of speak my mind, too.”

Carrie Ann is so much more critical of female contestants than the male dancers. She should be replaced because she is obviously jealous of the other female dancers (professional and celebrity)

As gracious as I am trying to be, I find it very difficult to believe that Carrie Ann did not realize or did not think that saying Mel spoke kind of like a truck driver would not be perceived or sound like an insult by others. The worst thing of all is that any PERSONAL comments about a cast member’s character, speech, etc, has NO place on the show-comments by the judges should be about the dancing. It was unprofessional if not rude and thoughtless of Carrie Ann to say what she did on live TV in front of millions of potential voters. Unfortunately, she may not have meant it to be terribly derogatory, but millions of people heard her comments and this may have affected their impression of Mel in an unfair way. Anyone can make mistakes, and Carrie Ann is no exception - I just hope her comments in general are more fair and reasonable and don’t show any kind of favoritism. She is better than that!

I totally got what CA was implying - that Mel B the dancer is like an oxymoron - “Scary Spice/Graceful Dancer”, and she apparently meant it in a very complimentary way. Don’t forget, this show is LIVE, and judges have to think “on their toes” and can’t be edited. CA may have regretted her choice of words after the fact, but haven’t we all.

Although beautiful and fun to watch Mel B is a bit rough around the edges. I think Carrie Ann was just making the contrast between that and how Mel can be sensual, elegant and very graceful on the dance floor. Maybe “truck driver” was a bit harsh but I got the point. I think Mel did to. Anyway, I can’t wait to see Maks with all the Spice Girls next week!

Carrie Ann’s comment was very rude. This show has lost is spunk with me. I don’t watch as much any more. These people are putting their hearts into this dancing which is not their regular profession and then adding the insults to it is just too much. It’s time to find another judge.

Oh, Carrie Ann meant it to be derogatory. She has been slapping Mel with rude, backhanded comments since week 1. If Bruno was told to apologize for saying Billy Ray Cyrus danced like crap (at least it was only his dancing he was referring to), then Carrie Ann should be made to stand up (and not woo-hoo for a male celebrity like she always does) and apologize to Mel. Personally I thought when she 1) said Stacy danced as well as the female pros and 2) tried to give Louis Von Amstel pointers on how to do a samba when she has NO BALLROOM KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE she should have been fired. I am still waiting for the apologies for that. Yeah, that will be the day. Len and Bruno have their favorites but at least they hide it and don’t let it cloud the way they critique other dancers; Carrie Ann’s bias is obvious for everyone to see.

I think Carrie Ann should say whatever she wants. The other judges do! The comment to Mel B didn’t come across as an insult. Anyone with some degree of intelligence would have caught that. Anyway, there’s nothing bad about being a truck driver.

It was a very rude comment to make and it seems this season carrie ann has been extreamly rude to alot of people. she needs to stick to judging the dancing.by the way i had never heard of this women until this show so what really makes her such an expert.

It’s very unprofessional of Carrie Ann to be making such a comment. After all, she is supposed to stick to judging the dancing and skills associated with dancing. I hardly think that a person’s voice has anything to do with how they perform a dance.

I thought that was a “nasty”, rude, and uncalled for comment! Mel is really a beautiful, fun loving woman, and obviously, her voice has worked very well for her! It was such an insulting thing to say to anyone! Carrie Ann seems to have a problem this season…..she has been rude on several other occasions, but this was just plain “crude” of her to have said!
Shake it off Mel..just keep looking at the hunk you are dancing with..smile at Carrie Ann..and “step it up!”..Good luck!
