'High School Musical' Star in Nude Photo Scandal

Vanessa Hudgens' squeaky-clean image just got a makeover.

Photos of the actress posing naked have been leaked to various websites, and now the 18-year-old star of "High School Musical" is speaking out.

A rep for the young star says, "This photo was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."

The photo shows Vanessa standing naked in what appears to be a bathroom.

Reps for the Walt Disney Co., the brains behind the wildly popular "High School" franchise, have not commented.

The scandalous photo - which "Extra" has learned was obtained illegally - are a far cry from Vanessa's Disney image.

She plays brainy and innocent Gabriella, the love interest of Zac Efron's character in the first two movies. The two are now a couple, though Vanessa has tried to stay mum on their relationship.

Vanessa is currently in talks to resume her role for "High School Musical 3," though nothing has been confirmed.

Earlier this month she told "Extra," "I am so lucky in the fact that I got that role. It could have been anyone. It totally wasn't what I was expecting."

Vanessa told "Extra" she was already aware of the pressure to be a good role model.

She said, "I totally love it because there are people out there doing the wrong things and making the wrong decisions...I love being able to be the good one and set good examples."

Today there is already fallout from the scandal.

On her Myspace page, dozens of fans are writing in to voice support and disdain.

One fan writes, "Keep your head up!" and others write that something so private should never be splashed across the web.

But some have less sympathy and are vowing to never watch her on television again, blasting that she is a bad role model for young girls.

So does this mean Vanessa's career with "High School Musical" is over?

There are already rumors that Disney has given Vanessa the boot and hired Adrienne Bailon from Disney's "The Cheetah Girls" to play Gabriella.

But rep just issued a statement to In Touch, saying, "Oh my, that story is so 100 percent not true. Vanessa's not an 'employee' of Disney, there's nothing to be fired from."

she should be judged not by a photo
but by her ability to light up a room
and filling our hearts with joy
if she gets thru this,
well its gives all us girls the hope that if we make mistakes
we’ll be given another chance
hsm would not be what it is without that incredible voice
and the incredible girl that is vanessa hudgens
the person who hurt her hurt all of us
and what ever goes around comes around
vanessa we love you stay strong
i will not see the hsm3 without vanessa hudegns in it
we all make mistakes it takes a pertty cruel
and heartless jack-*** to do what they did to vanessa

It should not effect her career or her life, people should mind their own business and let her live hers.

One naked picture, big deal. We are all naked at some part of the day.

Give the poor girl a break.

This will not affect her career. She will be more savvy about who to trust. I am a mom and my daughter looks up to Vanessa. She’s 9 and will not find out about this picture. We will continue to support her. She did something privately and someone turned it against her. It may be a lack of judgement to make the picture, but she is still a great girl and a good role model. She’s not hanging out in clubs, bouncing from boy to boy and drinking. I don’t think this will affect her in any way.

This is not good at all for the High School Musical franchise. What is wrong with these girls who pose for “private” nude photos? Do their boyfriends ever return the favor? And those in the public eye should know that they could possibly fall into the wrong hands. This is disillusioning.

I think what she did shouldnt affect her career. What she did was not illegal or even wrong. Whoever leaked the pics are the ones who should get in trouble. I am still a fan, and i know others are as well. This could have happened to anyone.

Let’s just hope she doesn’t become the next Lindsay Lohan.

Let’s pray now.
