Are Brad and Angelina Leaving Hollywood for Good?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may be moving permanently to Manhattan!

The couple, who have houses in Los Angeles, New Orleans and New York, reportedly just enrolled their oldest son, Maddox, in a high-end school in New York’s Upper East Side.

Maddox, 6, is reportedly at the elite Lycee Francais de New York, an $18,000-a-year private school where lessons are taught in French.

No word on whether the French classes are any indication that the Jolie-Pitt broad would also be uprooting to France, where they lived for a time while Angelina was pregnant with Shiloh.

For now, the ever-expanding family seems to be settling in to New York -- Brad took Maddox to a Yankees game on Tuesday night.

NEXT: Paris: Heading to Rwanda for Charity?

I wish there were something more worthwhile to report about.

If you want to blame someone for the loss of jobs, complain to Bush and his corporate cronies - who’ve outsourced almost everything in the U.S., and fired tens of thousands of workers while the CEOs and stock investors pay themselves obscene salaries & profits - while stripping the remaining workers of health insurance. $18,000 is nothing to these people. One of them gifted his secretary a shower curtain costing that much - was it made of diamonds? He wasn’t even sleeping with her.

I’d criticize their spending more than I would the Pitt-Jolies - at least they give back both to U.S. causes like Katrina and to the world community. Angelina Jolie donates 1/3 of her yearly income - about $3 million a year. How many other people - us, other celebrities, CEOs, and politicians do that? Precious few. Even the Bible talks only about donating 1/10.

How about helping hungry kids & adults in America? Have you done your share? The Jolie-Pitts don’t have enough money, nor is it their sole responsibility, to save all of America or the world by themselves.

I’m very glad that they & their friends (Cheadle,Clooney,Damon) are doing what they can to end the Darfur genocide. I’m very glad that their donations makes the difference between life & death in the desert for hundreds of thousands of women & children - providing tents, water, food and basic medical care.

Actually, 18K a year is cheap for a private school - I was expecting it to be twice that at least. The Lycee Francais isn’t that exclusive or expensive a school. I know a lot of professional couples who send their kids to the Lycee. And we have a private Catholic high school whose tuition costs the same.

I don’t think the Jolie-Pitts will live in NYC permanently. They’ve spoken of New Orleans as their home base and as a place they can have a more non-celebrity life. Their family will go location shoots, but home will be N.O.

Angelina & Brad have planned Maddox’s schooling brilliantly. The Lycee Francais is similar to the Montessori schools. Their schools are all over the world but their system of teaching & their subjects are the same. So Maddox first went to an L.A. lycee, then to New Orleans’ lycee, Prague’s, and now Manhattan’s — there’s continuity and stability to Mad’s schooling.

Who cares? How about helping hungry kids in America. People are losing jobs left and right, but we need to know they spend $18,000 a year.
