Update: Owen Wilson in 'Good Condition'

A spokesman for Cedars-Sinai tells "Extra" today that Owen Wilson is "in good condition" at the hospital.

But the question remains: what happened to the seemingly carefree funnyman?

On Sunday afternoon, police got a frantic 911 call from his Santa Monica home.

Reports say he slit his wrists and took an undetermined number of pills.

Paramedics first took him to a nearby hospital, then rushed him by ambulance to L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where friends and family are rallying around him today.

Reports say his brothers and parents were seen entering the hospital.

Owen's medical drama unfolded just hours after his ex Kate Hudson and her reported new beau, comedian Dax Shepard, were spotted kissing at a grocery store in nearby Pacific Palisades.

The news is shocking to everyone who knew Owen, the laid-back comedian who was nominated for an Oscar for "The Royal Tenenbaums" screenplay and who starred in such hits as "Wedding Crashers" and "Zoolander."

Fellow funnyman David Spade was taken aback by the news last night in Beverly Hills.

Shocked, he said, "That's horrible news. I love Owen. He's great. That's tough to hear."

Owen,

Whenever I’ve had a rough day and need a smile I know I can throw one of your movies in the DVD player and have my spirits lifted. I’m praying for your swift and full recovery. My God smile upon you and lift your spirits like you’ve lifted ours all these years. Tomorrow is always a new day.

I just want to tell Owen that my prayers are with him. I hope he will be left alone so he can spend time with his family and receive the therapy that is best for him.
When I heard about his health crisis I just had to respond. Our 18 year old daughter died by suicide six months ago. Jenny had been battling severe, chronic
depression for 8 years. We are a close, loving family and did all we possibly could to help her. She loved animals, children, drama, art and especially writing. She had a wonderful guy and was in college to become a teacher. She too always laughed and had a smile on her face.
Owen is a wonderful performer and brings the gift of laughter to many. (My family love his movies.) Now is his time to take care of himself out of the public view. I pray he will be well, and maybe someday can share his experience and help enlighten others about depression, which Jenny referred to as “the lurking demon” in her poetry. It is nothing to be ashamed of. God be with him and his loved ones.

Owen,

Know that in your darkest hour, there are alot of people who love you unconditionally, and are ready to support you, all you have to do is reach out, and they will grab your hand and won’t let go until you are ready. Remember two things 1. Love yourself, and 2. After the storm there is always a rainbow.

Believe me, I have had many dark hours, and my love ones have always been there and supported me until I was ready to stand straight on go on with life.

Take care of yourself, and take your time in healing, and know you are thought of by many.

Owen, hope you recover quickly. You are magnificent in all the movies you have made. You are successful and many people love you as an actor and a human being. If its over a woman she is not worth it. It’s her big loss not yours. Time heals everything especially when you start going out with another one. You forget all about the previous ones. Feel better and never ever do this again for your sake and everyone elses.
We love you too much.

My Thoughts and Prayers AND Love are with Owen and his Family. This completely caught me off guard as he always seemed to be a happy and carefree guy. Maybe the break up with Kate was more than he could handle as it seems she has moved on with her love life. Or could be something totally different . Either way I hope he gets the help he needs to recover, both physically and emotionally! Love to you always Owen ! xoxox Jamie

We have a tendancy to think that the rich and/or famous are immune to life’s stresses. They are indeed as human as anyone else, and subject to the same, if not more, stress than the non-famous. Owen has a true talent and has given much pleasure to many. My heart and best wishes go out to him. Hang in there, Guy!
