Update: Owen Wilson in 'Good Condition'

A spokesman for Cedars-Sinai tells "Extra" today that Owen Wilson is "in good condition" at the hospital.

But the question remains: what happened to the seemingly carefree funnyman?

On Sunday afternoon, police got a frantic 911 call from his Santa Monica home.

Reports say he slit his wrists and took an undetermined number of pills.

Paramedics first took him to a nearby hospital, then rushed him by ambulance to L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where friends and family are rallying around him today.

Reports say his brothers and parents were seen entering the hospital.

Owen's medical drama unfolded just hours after his ex Kate Hudson and her reported new beau, comedian Dax Shepard, were spotted kissing at a grocery store in nearby Pacific Palisades.

The news is shocking to everyone who knew Owen, the laid-back comedian who was nominated for an Oscar for "The Royal Tenenbaums" screenplay and who starred in such hits as "Wedding Crashers" and "Zoolander."

Fellow funnyman David Spade was taken aback by the news last night in Beverly Hills.

Shocked, he said, "That's horrible news. I love Owen. He's great. That's tough to hear."

Dear Owen,

You are without a doubt among my very favorite comedic actors. When I want to laugh and feel happy, I just watch Wedding Crashers. I admire you so much. There is something about you that makes me laugh as soon as you appear on the screen. It’s that smile of yours, those eyes, your whole persona! So, you knew that already!
Having said all that, know that a lot of fans, such as myself, are behind you and want you to be well, and to get out there again and use those gifts that you have. Take care of yourself. You have so much to offer!
A fan in Washington, D.C.

Owen my entire family was so sad to hear that you may have tried and actually succeeded in taking your life. I am soo sorry to know you are in such a place that you felt you could not go on. You are indeed a very special individual you have a gift not just to act but to put smiles and often even giggles on peoples faces. This quality has endeared you to so many people that admire you for your work but also so many others that know you on a much more personal level. Loss of anything especially that of love can be so devestating and confusing. I have a 19 year old daughter that has been contemplating suicide since she was 16 and broke up with her first real boyfriend. I sit and worry and watch to see what frame of mind she is in and always afraid because her pain is real but her death would be such a shame and waste as she has so much to offer this world. We love to see you on the big screen but as if sit here writing this i pause to pray, that i would wish to never see you act again if we were to know as a fellow human being son and brother as well as friend that you could find the happiness you need so much now and the healing i hope you find to make you ok again and give you the peace you so need. God Bless you and keep you safe. There is no shame in being in pain. Please get the healing you need now and hold fast to your family.

sincerily,
Diann Faulk and family Curt, Rachael, Libby, and Joyce. (Texas) we love you and keep you in our prayers

Owen,

Please don’t give up. You are such a wonderful actor. My whole family loves you very much. We constantly have one of your movies in our dvd player! We can not wait for more from you!

If this is all over a girl then it is her loss. I agree with so many of the other messages. She is not worth it. You deserve so much more than that! Someday your real true love will come along and you will not even remember any of the others. She is out there somewhere! Find her!

Be strong and remember that we all love you and care for you! Please have a speedy recovery. We cannot wait for the next movie! You are AWESOME, not to mention talented, funny, charming and you just seem so fun!

God Bless! In the words of my son LONG LIVE LIGHTENING MCQUEEN!

I think the situation with Owen Wilson is so sad, yet a familiar one when it comes to beloved comedians. I just hope he gets the help he needs.
