Did Owen's Friend Supply Him with Drugs?

With his brothers by his side, and all of Hollywood behind him, Owen Wilson is continuing to recover at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after allegedly cutting his wrists in a tragic suicide attempt.

Today there is breaking news about Owen's friend, Steve Coogan, the British actor who starred with Owen in "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Night at the Museum."

Us Weekly's Jill Martin says that sources point to Coogan, 41, for Owen's downfall.

She explains, "Friends and family were hoping to get to Owen before things really went downhill. He shut out his brothers, whom he's very close with. He really wanted to protect the people that he loved, because he knew he was going to a place that was really dark."

As Owen spiraled into depression, he reportedly spent time with Coogan, an alleged hard-partier.

"Steven Coogan is the consummate partier," Martin said. "We're told he's into drugs, and he's into partying."

Coogan's ex-girlfriend Courtney Love reportedly contacted Us Weekly and said she warned Owen to stay away from Coogan. She reportedly felt that Coogan "wasn't the right influence" because of his hard-partying lifestyle, telling the magazine, "I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends."

Added Martin, "She was his girlfriend, so if anyone knows what Steven Coogan is up to it's Courtney."

Coogan fought back at those allegations today, telling "Extra," "These accusations are unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful to all concerned. We are taking legal advice."

Now "Extra" has learned that Owen has dropped out of his upcoming comedy "Tropic Thunder" with friend Ben Stiller.

Stiller was to direct the film and Owen was to star alongside Jack Black. Shooting reportedly already began, and Owen was set to film in just weeks. It is not clear whether Owen's part will be recast.

Someone like Lindsay Lohan whos been a real trouble maker and nearly killed three people in a car you have little sympathy for. However, with Owen Wilson you feel very differently. Hopefully he’ll feel better soon.

If you even read this I think Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and the whole group of movies you are responsible for are ingenious and I think you are extremely gifted and appear to very kind and humble unlike most of the types you meet in Hollywood. Get in a good AA program along with therapy and you’ll be having a life beyond your wildest dreams much better than even all the success you have experienced so far. It’s an inside job.
And to the media…listen to him and lay off.

I don’t know what the celebrity life is like because I am not a celebrity, but what I can say is that having a bad image published in the media has to be the hardest thing to face and overcome.

Owen, my heart and thoughts are with you and your family. Don’t listen to all that rubbish because no one knows you like you do. Be positive and I pray that God will lead you to a better path. I will pray for your family as well so they can have the strength they need to face these overwhelming circumstances. Take care and be safe because a fan cares.

its easy for you to say ‘if i had what he had …’ until you walk in a persons shoes, you have no idea what you would do. money doesnt bring happiness. owen is allowed to be human. to feel pain. how would you like it if every single thing you did or said or every relationship you had was analyzed by the media. i’m sure the media is eating this up. they are reading into everything this guy has said in the past. they are even taking excerpts from his movies & using them as “signs of trouble”. HE WAS ACTING you idiots.

I am a huge Luke fan. Geez. That poor guy. BIG kudos to him. Can you just imagine him walking in on that horrific scene, and then being able to react properly to it. I feel so very badly for him as well. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Thank God he did everything right in helping save his brother’s life. I’m glad I chose the right guy to admire. How Owen got where he is, or who he hung out with is irrelevant at this point. He’s getting the help he needs NOW. That’s all that matters.

I Love how they are blaming this Steven Coogan for Owens Downfall. Is owen not an adult? Can he not make his own decisions? He obviously wasn’t forced to take the drugs. He only has himself to blame for that. I hope he gets the help he needs and can laugh in life as much as he makes us laugh in his movies!

I find it to be ironic how an actor who can make fans laugh during their worst moments is often the one in need for some sort of outlet. You see this time and time again. I am very disturbed by this and cannot comprehend how someone who has so much going for them can fall so hard. Meaning of life is something that needs to be gripped when everything materialistic has come so fast. If I had wealth and security accomplished in my life, I would turn to helping others in need and gain a deeper understanding of what life is really about. I would start with the most innocent ones of all, the children, because the truth can always be seen in their eyes.
Owen, I know that you weren’t able to finish what you intended to do and now you will be hit with questions as to why but look into your families eyes and see what you were really going to accomplish. Your family is your biggest support system. Go away on a retreat and guard your soul with the biggest amulet you’ll ever have, the impact of your existence in this world. You have many accomplishments on your belt, this is your biggest one to overcome…good luck Owen.
