Breaking News: Owen Wilson Did Attempt Suicide

"Extra" has learned from a source close to Owen Wilson that the actor did indeed attempt suicide over the weekend.

The source revealed to "Extra" that Wilson has been depressed for the last few months, but insisted it is not over a broken relationship.

The source also told "Extra" that Wilson's brother, Luke, found him and that Wilson's family and friends are shocked.

I hope Owen finds peace. I know how difficult this must be. I lost a friend to suicide 4 months ago. I see it differently now. Life is a strange journey, and we are all just trying to find our way. Happiness is truly a pursuit, and it is hard to catch and even harder to hold on to.

There can be sunny days again, though, and he will need a strong support group of friends and family. It appears that he has that, and they need to stay by his side because he does have value and is a special person.

God’s speed.

It baffles me that at this time and age there are still so many people who think depression is something you can just “brush off.”
I’m a christian…and I grew up with a Bipolar/squizophrenic mother…and the love of my life killed himself in the beginning of this year…and I’m not quoting the bible and blaming anyone.
I came from a wealthy family…my mom had no problems either…but you people have to realize this is a disease. Please don’t be quick to judge…YOU are not God.

Hey Owen, I wish you all the best for a full recovery. Your fans are behind you 100%. Life may not be as rosey as it should but you are a very special person to a lot of people and the world without you will be a lost one. Take things slow and I hope to see a smile on your face soon.

John (and other judgmental people):

Let me explain something to YOU.

If You had Owen Wilson’s problems, you’d have an illness that makes you want to kill yourself DESPITE all your money, fame, opportunity, friends, and family support.

Still wanna trade places with him?

To John:

You obviously have no idea what depression is like. Depression is an illness. An Illness. Like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. You got similar opinions about folks suffering from those ailments?

Mental illness is very serious, misunderstood, and unfortunately still taboo. Depression isn’t someone simply whining or being sad about x or y while being ungrateful for everything he/she has. Actually, someone with depression feels very guilty that they “can’t” be happy given everything they have… whether it’s Owen Wilson or a private person.

Given that depression is a mental illness, no fault of the sufferer, why should those of us without depression perpetuate the stigma foisted upon those who do? Why should we pretend to know their suffering and then cast judgment on them for it? That’s mean, ignorant, unfair, unkind, etc.

People who say, “He/She has nothing to be depressed about” don’t know what they’re talking about. There doesn’t have to be “something” to be depressed about. People in any circumstance or station in life can suffer from depression.

Idea: Shake off your mis-information about depression, actually READ and learn about it. Till then, resist the urge to post about things you have not read, studied, and learned about. Seriously. You add to the problem when you do so.

Peace

I would trade my problems in for his anyday. He should read about Solomn in the bible a man who had it all yet had no satisfaction in life without GOD truly inside. I cant understand for my own life if you are brave enough to kill yourself how you can not be brave enough to make it in this life. Oh wait he has made it, he has it all…we mortals struggle everyday with all he has all the good he can do, yet the only good his soul has found with so much is to try to kill himself…someone should explain this to him.

Whatever is going on with you Owen, we are with you. You have to feel pretty bad to get that bad, and you who is loved by so many. I’m not loved by that many, and I hang in there, and I have been where you are , I still am kind of.
God Bless, your in my prayers, and my best friend, you are her favorite actor.

My boyfriend and thhe father of my daughter committed suicide 20 years ago.My life and hers has never been the same. I often wish I could tell him how tragic what he did is. All the beautiful things that were going to happen to him in his future that will now never be, but especially how much he was loved and he is missed; that he will never know. L

Suicide has happened to three of my family members. It is something that a family never recovers from. My heart goes out to Owen and I pray that he will find peace and comfort with his family. We will never know the pain my brother, my aunt or my cousin felt but if one person can be saved by us showing our support by leaving him alone and letting him heal than we have done our job.
