The Dr. McDreamy of Daytime TV

There’s a new doctor in town on “General Hospital: Night Shift,” and he’s making pulses race.

Jason Thompson, a.k.a. Dr. Patrick Drake, is 30 years old, single and a dead-ringer for 80s heartthrob and returning cast member Rick Springfield – who plays his father!

“It is a compliment. You know, the guy is still a rock star,” says Jason.

Born and raised in St. Albert, Canada, Jason was discovered by a modeling agent when he was an 18-year-old bus boy.

But he admits his early acting gigs weren’t so glamorous!

“I was on MTV’s ‘Undressed.’ I was handcuffed to a bed wearing women's panties! It was an acting job. I basically took what I could get at that point also,” he admits.

Here’s just one more reason this bachelor would make a great catch: he wants to treat a woman like a queen.

“Hopefully, I can treat someone the way they deserve to be treated,” Jason says.

But the right girl will also need a sense of humor, especially in the morning.

“I always wake up in a good mood and get up early, but come ten thirty or eleven o'clock, I'm pretty much asleep,” jokes the sexy soap hunk.

So what’s the craziest thing this hot actor has done to impress a girl?

“Probably says a lot about why I'm still single! I haven't done a lot too crazy yet!” he admits.

Well, Jason, maybe you just haven’t found the right girl yet.

Great profile on Jason Thompson. But I must admit that I stopped watching GH years ago but I was home on vacation a couple of weeks ago and Robin’s and Patrick’s character was on and I immediately was captured by their chemistry so needless I’ve been watching them ever since… I’ve googled them, purchased nightshift dvd, youtubed them and have seen PAs of them together lol and as Jason and Kimberly WOW they are definitely attracted to one another and have great respect for one another!!! I would tell him Team Kimberly all the way

I’m really glad that Jason Thompson got part of the most Eligiable! Robin and him is one of the reason’s I watch General Hospital and Night Shift! They chose the right guy to be Noah’s son.

Extra, JT is adorable and in every way a catch ! I adore him and Kim together and it’s my thought that he just has to look at the lady standing next to him.I wanted to say this for a long time so now I said it. Sorry mean no disrespect but, he can have any woman he wants and I think he deserves someone like his costar Kim it’s so real!! Thanks

Jason thompson is very hot, and I think the chemistry with his costar is beyond great.He is a very nice to look at I think any women who met him would love him. None of my business but, I have seen him with Kimberly and I believe they are very close. Why don’t you do something on her she is beautiful and single.I bought a car from Pearl Jam years ago a foreign car Fiat at least that what was told to me by the sales guy.Please do something on Kim Jason is a hottie!!!!!I love extra thank you!

I love Jason Thompson!! The only reason I watch GH is for him and Kimberly McCullough. Why is he single?? He’s got a great sense of humor and he’s goregous!! He’s perfect:)

Jason Thompson is the best reason to watch GH!! I have been a huge fan since his debut in Dec./06. Being paired with Kimberly McCullough has produced the hottest couple on daytime TV. GH’s Night Shift was created for their characters…so that alone explains their chemistry, and amazing acting.
Such talent!!
Good to see such a modest person like JT profiled on your program…about time. He sounds so genuine & down to earth. And those looks & dark eyes…nothing left to say!!! Aaaah!

Thanks, Extra, for featuring Jason Thompson. He is an amazing actor, and doing a great job portraying Dr. Patrick Drake on both General Hospital and Night Shift. Even better, he is kind,talented, funny, generous, and modest. You ought to hear him talk about his family,it would make you swoon. Not to mention he’s got an adorable dog.You picked a good one this time!

I had the most wonderful experience to have met Mr. Thompson a mere few weeks ago at GH’s Fan Club Weekend in LA. And that man is just as sweet and adorable as he appears in this interview. I can’t quite figure out why he’s still single, but I’m sure he’ll make some woman very happy someday. As they say, he’s not ‘just another pretty face’, this guy is a FANTASTIC actor, and YES - to those making comments on him and his costar - they do have a VERY special chemistry and their couple is one to root for. If you aren’t watching GH, start watching for THEM. They’re worth it!!! Patrick and Robin are the best and Jason Thompson and Kimberly McCullough SHINE together!!!

It was great to see Jason Thompson (Patrick) on this segment. I really enjoyed it and loved his dog.

I became a fan of GH after meeting him and Kimberly McCullough (his leading lady on GH)at a PA.

They both were so kind to me and my little girl. They even took time to play with my daughter.Kimberly even helped me get my little one settled once my time was up.

Truly the nicest and most down to earth people who have amazing chemistry.

I would like to let them know I now watch GH for Robin and Patrick and hope to see this GH couple have a baby of their own.

Thank You Extra! I got the privilage of meeting Jason Thompson at General Hospital’s Fan Club Weekend this past July and he is utterly, truly the most sincere, genuine person I’ve ever met. Not to mention… he makes hearts melt!!

To the person claiming not to watch GH but to have picked up on something between the two actors - please. You’re obviously a fan which is great but don’t try and pretend that you “just picked up on their amazing chemistry” in a 3 second clip of them holding hands.

well, I don’t watch GH, but I’d definitely tune in to watch him, and that other actress with him which appeared to be a roof in that last scene.

He seems to be a sweet genuine man, any woman would be LUCKY to snag him!!

To the one that states he’s not dating his “co-star” …no one REALLY saying he is…just that it’s QUITE obvious just from that 10 second clip there is something there between them, and I don’t even WATCH this show! But if you’re he’s new BFF and all….

Jason Thompson is the most gracious, wonderful man! And incredibly sexy, gorgeous beyond words, and A-DOR-ABLE. And that voice—WOW! I have had the privilege of meeting him about 7 months ago and he is just as nice and humble in person as he seems.

Thank you so much for profiling him! He deserves it, he is AMAZING both as an actor and a person. And he doesn’t need any special, crazy things to do to attract attention of a woman. One look, one word from that man and I would be totally his!

Jason always makes his fans feel special when they meet him. He’s always so generous and kind to his fans. He’s patient, accomidating and very funny. He does such a great job entertaining his fans and making them feel important at any event he does. Thank you for profiling Jason. He is a hottie - but most importantly, he’s real and is fans love him.

Unlike some of these posters, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Thompson, but from what I’ve heard and from I’ve seen on this clip, he seems like a kind, humble, down-to-earth sweetheart.

I wish him the best of luck personally and professionally and I am sure he will have no problem finding the right one for him when the time is right.
