Angelina Jolie Flies to Iraq, Visits Refugees and Troops

Angelina Jolie has flown to Iraq to witness the humanitarian crisis there, the United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR announced today.

Angelina left New York Monday and flew to Syria, where she visited Iraqi refugees and spent hours talking with them.

Today she will cross into Iraq and meet with thousands of refugees camped out in camps near the border. She also reportedly witnessed dozens of Iraqis crossing into Syria.

In a statement today, she said, “I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners. My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq."

After meeting refugees today, she said, “It is absolutely essential that the ongoing debate abut Iraq's future includes plans for addressing the enormous humanitarian consequences these people face."

She also reportedly met with American troops and other forces in the region.

I think Aneglina Jolie is a great example of what you should do when you are rich. Plus I dont think the pic was staged because mabye she was just upset, because its pretty heartbreaking to see what you country has done to other countries. Plus Angelina didnt break up Brad and Jenifer, they just wernt happy together. So thats my opiopon.

SHE WILL ALWAYS BE THE WOMAN WHO TOOK JENNIFER’S HUSBAND …. NOT A GOOD START, and then becoming famous because of that? I don’t think they are happy, they are actors, we never know when is true or false. PLUS LYING ABOUT THEIR RELATION DURING THE MOVIE?? She is fake, instead going around the world and adopting kids, build schools like OPRAH. Maybe in New Orleans??

Oh, and I don’t think a bad actress would have 1 Oscar, 2 Screen Actor Guild awards (voted by her peers - other actors & actresses), and 3 Golden Globes. And critics raved about her performances in HBO’s George Wallace, Gia, Girl Interrupted, and A Mighty Heart. There’s Oscar buzz about Angelina Jolie in A Mighty Heart right now.

I’d guess that you haven’t even seen these performances to back up your opinion. Because of Brad Pitt, a certain number of women have a deep, bitter, implacable hatred of Jolie — everything she is and everything she does. They also hate anything she’s involved in, the UN, refugees & orphans, overseas adoptions, etc. In these women’s eyes nothing she touches is good because that might mean she could DO good. In my mind, these women are just as bad and inflexible as the Protestants vs. Catholics during Ireland’s “troubles.”

Are you SURE you know where your U.S. donations are going? Just an example, all the money donated for Katrina to the Red Cross, from the concert, donations by other countries like Kuwait etc. HAVE NOT gone to those who need it. (The Red Cross used the Kuwait money to build a new headquarters in NYC.) This was reported by CNN’s Anderson Cooper, NY Times, Time, Newsweek & other reliable media in coverage of Katrina’s 2nd anniversary just last week.

Good & bad are everywhere. We in the U.S. don’t have a monopoly on goodness — corruption and incompetence happen here too.

Angelina Jolie is a normal example process of growing up , going through her emotions and domestic issues … and Hollywood life style … as she is mature ….. and found her call for Charity ! Her devotion and compassion is undeniable ! Look at this picture and some before this , LISTEN - CARE and SERVE !!! Love and Charity has no border or race ! Whenever things showed up or people you met on your path that needed help , it’s an opportunity to serve ! It ‘s up to you to make the choice too !
Look at those people that had lost everything and had to leave their home
& the future is unknown , in the war zone …and compare to people of Katrina in NewOrleans , the lost and suffer is not much different , at least they are not in the war zone !!!
God Bless Angelina & her family !

There is no Ritz Carlton in Iraq. And UNHCR says that she joins the relief workers in their lodgings whenever she goes on missions.

Sorry..I only give to my community charities here in the USA…at least I know where the money is going.

Angie truely inspires me.The way she is so hands on and so loving and giving really moves me like no one else.Everytime I see her face I think of her helping others. She is living the dream going from one place to another helping I’d give anything to do that to see other countrys and really get in there and do what you can its amazing!!!! Every since I could remember seeing celebs and people going crazy over them I remember thinking it was very sad to give them so much press bc while they had so much their were so many without. I understood then why a rich man could never enter the gates of heaven. It doesn’t matter how popular u r if u have millions and the person next to u has nothing the person with is at fault.Rather its this country or another everyone deserves to eat and be safe.I am so glad angie is different.God bless
