Victoria Beckham: American Actresses Are Frumpy!

Victoria Beckham has only been in the U.S. for a few days, but she is already causing controversy in Hollywood!

In an interview with the LA Times, the fashion conscious Spice Girl said that Hollywood actresses are definitely not as “posh” as she is.

“They dress down quite a lot here, don't they?” Victoria said. “It seems to be in keeping to go to Starbucks in tracksuit bottoms and Ugg boots.”

“I have one pair of tracksuit bottoms for non-photographic opportunities only,” she added. “Underground car parks are fine, but aside from that, no.”

Victoria also said that unlike Hollywood stars, she prefers to mix up her wardrobe and style.

“I get quite bored with the way people look the same all the time, with the same makeup and the same outfit, and the same kind of hair,” she said. “I like to change things around quite a bit.”

Americans are about to get a lot more of Victoria when her special, “Victoria Beckham: Coming to America,” airs Monday night.

The reason why Hollywood woman dress “frumpy” as miss olive oil puts it is because they have nothing to prove. Obviously, she has something to prove with her wasting away to nothing so she has to dress up. I personally believe that to each his/her own. She is a nobody to be judging. And by the way, when she was a Spice Girl, she looked a hell of a lot better, with some type of curves on the flesh. I am still trying to figure out who the hell thinks she looks better than anyone out there. And yes, please smile more cause you look like crap in every picture you take. BORING!!!!! On to more important things please!!!!!!!!!

I just find it ironic that someone who was once, at least, a bit more vibrant-looking, would now call anyone else boring or frumpy or dressed down. I can’t even look at her now w/o getting upset - she looks like an over-processed (no one will ever mistake you for a blonde),-dieted,-tanned sickly 12 yr. old boy. In other words, she fits right in w/ the crowd she disses!!

Victoria Beckham was quoted as saying, “I get quite bored with the way people look the same all the time…”
This quote coming from someone who’s photographed with the same facial expression every single time a picture is taken?! By her own admission, she has “worked very hard to develop this ‘look.’” Hey Victoria, try smiling! I am getting quite bored with the way you pose for pictures.

I think that, unfortunately, she’s quite right. It isn’t just actresses; it’s the American public as a whole. Look in any airport, and you will see some fairly abysmal getups, principally worn by the travelling American public. I don’t see Europeans, Africans, or Asians looking anywhere near as awful as we seem to. It’s not necessary to dress badly to be comfortable - a reasonably well-fitting pair of trousers and a clean shirt or sweater are comfortable, don’t cost a fortune and are far more polished-looking than sweatsuits, belly-baring jeans, athletic jackets (on those who clearly haven’t given much thought to actually being athletic), rundown sneakers and flip-flops - why present yourself as a slob when, with a minimum of effort and a little personal grooming thrown in, you can look presentable and pulled together? It’s not necessary to wear couture, and couture isn’t available to the great majority of us - but basic clean clothing is, and I for one would love to see more of that.
