Tom Cruise is reportedly caught in the middle of a million-dollar extortion plot.

David Hans Schmidt, also known as the “Sultan of Sleaze” for his reported history of selling celebrity sex videos, has been nabbed by FBI agents for allegedly trying to get Tom to pay millions for stolen photos.

The pics were reportedly of Tom and wife Katie Holmes’ lavish Italian wedding. Somehow the pictures were stolen from Tom, and Schmidt was allegedly asking for more than a million dollars to get them back.

Tom’s lawyer says there were thousands of pictures from their November nuptials missing.

Schmidt, 47, of Arizona, is currently behind bars and is expected to be released sometime today. It’s not clear what kind of charges he’ll face.

Tom’s lawyer tells “Extra” that Tom is aware of the plot.
