Michael Lohan on Lindsay: 'I Know I'm Responsible for Part of This'

In a telling interview, Michael Lohan opened up to “Extra” Tuesday about his oldest daughter’s recent DUI arrest.

Michael said the last time he spoke to his daughter was “three days before she went into rehab.” During that conversation, Michael revealed, “She told me she loved me, missed me, wanted to talk to me, she didn’t know why things were going the way they were with my wife [Dina] and me.”

In an ironic twist, shortly before this morning’s events, Michael said, “Yesterday I felt like I needed to call her… I got her assistant Jenny Monroe who told me she [Lindsay] was in dance learning tango for her next movie.”

Michael never spoke to Lindsay, he told us, “There was no call, the next thing I heard was this morning…what we all know right now.”

He admitted that he is partly to blame for the way Lindsay is acting, saying, “I know I’m responsible for part of this. I acted the same way myself. Lindsay is being torn from her family… running in all the wrong directions.”

Michael said he spoke to his attorney and told him to “Take everything out of court, do everything for the kids…the way parents are suppose to do… the system gets in the way. Once we get caught up in the system things go in disarray!”

About whether or not his daughter’s career can rebound, he stated, “She’s gifted, talented, blessed and I really believe that once she gets back to the place she was… at the pinnacle of her career… Yes, I think she can rebound. We can use tragedy and turn it into triumph and I think Lindsay will do that.”

Michael has not spoken to Lindsay’s mother, Dina, or his other children since Lindsay’s recent arrest. He did tell us, “No one can separate the love a family has for each other…going to be there forever…unfortunate that too many people have gotten involved in our lives…I hold onto that thread of hope.”

About what kind of treatment Lindsay should enter into, Michael said, “[A] Faith based program…like Teen Challenge…they instill faith in your life. Life is a gift from God, what we do with it is what we give back

Michael is currently on parole and has been unable to go be with his daughter.

I don’t feel her dad should be the “blame” for an adults decisions. I grew up with my father doing drugs and drinking, I have never had anything to do with either. It would have been easy to just do the same thing and say “oh it’s not my fault”. It’s nonsense to play the blame game instead of Lindsay standing up and taking full responsibility for HER OWN DECISIONS.

She obviously hasn’t learned from her mistakes. How many times has she been caught driving drunk and messed up on cocaine or has it in her possession? Just because she is famous doesn’t mean she should get off. She is human just like the rest of us and should get the same charge that any of us would

She’s young, dumb and full of fun.
She’s just 21 and enjoying herself like most 21 year olds. The only difference is her life is in the public eye.
I say, let her be and make her own mistakes, she’ll eventually grow out of it.
She just needs someone else to do the driving for a while ;)

Now, lets get the betting poles open on who will overdose first, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears :)

I can’t believe she actually said she’s innocent and the drugs weren’t hers. Who is she trying to convince here? Lmao. And how her assistant’s mom almost hit her. Yeah I would hit you too if you were trying to chase me down. Just lock her up and be done with it already.

Oh my god. When is this insanity going to end. I am sick of hearing about these young Hollywood Starlets. Lindsay has been hitting the club scene since she was 16 or 17. All of these night clubs and bars should have been fined and shut down long ago after serving minors. Instead they become the hot Celebrity spots. These girls have too much money, fame, and no self respect. I am so glad that my young teenage daughter thinks these girls are just a bunch of TRAMPS. We will not support any of their work, EVER!!! She should definately go to jail. After all, she DID break the law!!

Is this the role model that people or her own fans look at? She needs a lot of real discipline, besides from her parents which are not doing their job, she should be well aware of what she is doing. She should pay the consequences of her own actions. Of course, is fame giving her the opportunity to get away from her mistakes? She is no different from that guy/gal who does the same mistake. She is no different from anybody else. Yes, she should be in jail to learn that doing the wrong thing is not right motives. Maybe she will change just like Paris or not. She is young and confused. Does she deserve a second chance, I don’t think so. She already got it and she blew it. We are not just so different from each other. ROLE MODEL… NOT FOUL MODEL

I think she should move to Arizona! By now she would be wearing TWO ankle bracelets, one for each offense. Then, I think about two or three months in jail will take of the majority of her dependency problems. It is a little hard to get the stuff in jail!

You’ve got to be kidding me. If this happened to anyone of us we would be sent up the river without a boat, or is it a paddle, or both. Trust me, I get it, if I was her I wouldn’t be out like she is now. Have you stopped and wondered if you had the same record as her what would your boss say? Oh, just show up when you can… After accumulating her record your boss would probably say “we don’t need you anymore”. When will the US get it that Actors/Actresses are people, playing a role to entertain. If everyone expects an actor/actress to behave as we have seen lately, when do we get a “professional movie, sitcom, or cable show? If you want to emulate them do so with the morality/exuberance that your parents have brought you up to expect.
