Jennifer and Marc's Passion Project, 'El Cantante,' Premieres in NYC

Looking perfect in peach, Jennifer Lopez lit up 42nd Street Thursday night with her main man Marc Anthony by her side.

The husband and wife co-stars of “El Cantante” made the New York premiere a night of passion and Puerto Rican pride.

“It’s very exciting for us,” Lopez said. “It’s been six years coming, and here we are finally.”

“El Cantante” tells the true story of salsa king Hector Lavoe. Jennifer was on board as a producer before she and Marc even started dating, and she thought he’d be perfect for the part.

“He was the first person I called,” she admitted. “It was a no brainer.”

“She’s so cute, isn’t she?” Marc laughed.

Jennifer's best bud, Leah Remini, was also at the premiere, and while Leah gushed about Jen’s performance, Jen butted in to bust her chops.

“She came out of the screening in Puerto Rico, and she's like crying and everything,” Jen laughed.

“It made me seriously cry,” Leah admitted.

Jennifer and Marc take their passion to the big screen next Friday.

She’s tacky abd low rent. She’s trying to be something she’s not; talented and classy. What I want to know is; where’s her green card?

I saw the movie and it was perfect. Those who dont like Jennifer are going to the movie with a negative bias. It has nothing to do with the movie. People who are negative about Hector’s life just like sugar coded stories. There wasnt any sugar coding in Walk the Line. Hector Lavoe and Johnny Cash are not so different. Yet that movie was accepted. Jennifer and Marc know they did a great job and so do I. This brought me way back..my father use to listen to Hector all the time. It was a little old school for me when I was growing up. Although my father passed away this movie brought back a lot of memories. Especially for those who grew up around that time. Great movie. I hate to use old school terms, but DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!

To “Amaroux”:
What kind of name is that?? amaroux, anyway….. why can’t you just be happy that latinos are bringing different culture from their countries.. That’s why they’re making this movie so we know who Lavoe is!!
That’s why this country is great because we learn from one another, different languages, cultures, food etc. Dont be so negative and ignorent. Even if the movie busts, it will be another triumph for the latino community!!!

i hope the movie goes bust. jennifer lopez is tacky and so is her husband marc. she sings dumb songs that mean nothing and cant even enunciate right, she speaks thug english and that should be the case. obviously her money hasnt bought her proper etiquette or language but just plain old “things. as far as the movie, who the hell is lavoe? nobody really cares-newyoricans have no say in what REAL puerto rican music is about. maybe a real puerto rican like marc anthonys lovely ex wife could shed some class and light into this. the movie will be a bust.

I can hardly wait to see this movie!!! I know Jennifer and Mark are going to make all Boriqua’s proud!!!! Hector Lavoe was a Super Star and his music will live forever in the hearts and souls of many people. I am overwhelmed with pride when it comes to this project. No matter how the critics rate this movie it is already a hit to me.
