Isaiah Washington Blames Patrick Dempsey

Isaiah Washington is fighting mad since being fired from “Grey’s Anatomy,” and he’s blaming Patrick Dempsey for the blow-up that resulted in his infamous homophobic slur.

Last night on “Larry King Live,” Isaiah said he lost his cool when he confronted Patrick for being late to the set.

Isaiah was ready to start shooting, but Patrick wanted to wait for Ellen Pompeo before the scene began.

"I said I don't need Ellen, I can act," Washington told Larry King. "And that was the moment that sent it into a different zone."

Isaiah said it was Patrick who got angry, saying, “He became unhinged, sprayed spittle in my face. I'm asking him why is he screaming at me. ... He just becomes irate."

Then, Isaiah admits, he said “a lot of things I’m not really proud of,” recalling that he said to Patrick, “There’s no way you're going to treat me like the B-word, the P-word or the F-word."

He says using the “F-word” was never meant as a gay slur, but implied “somebody who is being weak,” and he insists it was never directed toward T.R. Knight.

"I am not homophobic – in no way, shape or form," Isaiah insisted.

He even says T.R. had nothing to do with the argument – and that he brought himself into it to grab the limelight!

“He misrepresented himself,” says Isaiah, but admits he regrets repeating the slur at the Golden Globes.

Then Isaiah got emotional when Larry King asked him if he had any support from cast members.

After a long pause, his eyes filled with tears and he said Sandra Oh had sent him an email, but that’s it.

Okay, this whole thing got blown out of proportion. Yes he needs to watch what he says in public. But the show is awesome and Isaiah, aka Burke was a HUGE part of that and him not being in it might bring down the popularity and ABC might realize that they made a mistake. It was a lack of thought on his part and he wasn’t thinking of anyone else’s feelings because he was pissed off. We all make mistakes, his career shouldn’t be hurt for that. And i believe that they even made that a point in the show numerous times!

This seems rigged… the comments I agreed with made the total go up and lol… the ones I disagreed with also made the total go up… so… whats UP with that?

Ok, I liked Burke until he turned on Christina plus I hated the way he always used his position to put her in her place or to punish her. I only know what is in the media about Isaiah and if what is portrayed is true then I have absolutely no use for him or any more of his work. I did not like him as an actor enough to follow him to any other project.

I’m sorry Isaiah Washington was fired from “Grey’s” because I really liked his work on the show and the relationship between him and Sandra Oh (who is a wonderful actress!). The loss of the Dr. Burke character will leave a hole in the characters’ relations. I am VERY pleased T. R. Knight is still on the show. I just love T. R. Knight! The firing really doesn’t seem to me to be related to racism as much as to Washington’s inability to take responsibility for what he said and simply close his mouth. It’s one thing to say something in the heat of emotion, apologize, and move on; it’s another to say something in the heat of emotion, and then talk about it ad nauseum, blaiming everyone but yourself for your own action, which seems to be what Washington is doing. OK. Washington probably spoke his heart when he made the statement. So what? If he had closed NOT to subsequently beat the subject to death, he would probably still be employed, and we (the audience) would still have the benefit of a fabulous cast on a great show. Of course, based on what I have read, there is the likelihood he would have found another way to shoot himself/his career in the foot. Pity.

I would very much appreciate it if the remaining cast members would not create this kind of drama off the set, so that I (selfishly!) can continue to be part of these characters’ lives without watching them drop out, one by one!

He should not have been fired. Their fight was between the two of them and not to have gotten out of hand to lose ones job over it. One is as much as to blame as the other one.

I think Isaiah was at fault as he keep on repeating the same thing over and over.

He didn’t really care, so why should anyone care now that he has lost his job.

Its TR life and if he is gay thats his business, but this don’t make people like Isaiah should disrespect him.

That goes to show that some people should just shut their mouth when they don’t have anything to say or just think before you talk.

I think the fact that Sandra Oh is the only one who has e-mailed him among the entire cast says alot about Isaiah Washingtons actions.
He brought this on himself by not acknowledging his part from the very begining. He’s just making things worse for himself.

It makes me sick to think that Isaiah is blaming everyone but himself. He should take some responsibility for what was said, although its all been blown well out of proportion. Surely this should have remained on set where it took place and not been aired in public!

I don’t believe a word he has to say. There is no way TR would have come out as being gay in an industry where there aren’t any leading gay actors if the word was not directed at him. Not that it matters if the word was directed at him or not. If TR had said the N word but not in reference to Isaiah, I’m willing to bet all my money that Isaiah would still be angry.

Mr. Washington was fabulous on the show.
He most likely knows descrimination personally, so I believe his story that there was no offense meant to T.R.Knight.
Mr. Dempsey has too big a head for his britches. If anyone should have been fired it was Dempsey. Grow up!
T.R got caught in the middle of a fight he didn’t belong in.

Isaiah Washington is a LIAR. I find it hard to believe that T.R. Knight would come out of the closet, obviously not wanting to, for no reason. I think it’s clear who the liar is in this situation.

This man is a pathological liar. Last week it was Knight’s fault, This week it’s Dempsey’s fault. Maybe next week, it’s “Doc’s” fault. I have never seen someone sabotage themselves so repeatedly. It’s like a watching a train wreck over and over and over…

I watched Larry King last night and I believed Isaiah’s side of the story. I hope Patrick Dempsey comes forward and tells the truth, too.
I won’t be watching Grey’s next fall. He and Sandra Oh were the reason I watched. It was magic for 3 years. So sad!
Good luck to Isaiah. I was a fan of his work even before Grey’s.

TR has a lot explaining to do if this F-word was not directed at him, and if it was said only in a heated argument between Isiah and Patrick. There are times when things are said between people that should not be taken on air and specially in this case to loose his job.

Isiah, it was sad watching you on Larry King, and I think the network are looser if they had to let you go.
