You Tell Us: Did Isaiah Deserve to Be Fired?

After a season filled with scandal, Isaiah Washington’s contract was not renewed on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

But now it’s time to sound off: do you think he deserved to be fired? Post your comments and they may even be read on the show!

I don’t think he should have been fired.
If he said it, an apology would have been in order.
All that aside I think T.R. Knight is a mediocre actor at best. Isiah wahington in contrast is a great actor.
This whole incident was bad for the show.

No, I don’t think he should have been fired. I think that the show used him till the end of the season and threw him away like he was garbage. the show knew they were going to fire him, they had everybody fooled. They knew if they fired him when the altercation happened it would hurt their show greys anatomy, what a shame, they say the business has a lot of snakes, too bad he got bit. the producers of the show have large shoes to fill, I would feel the same if any of the characters where taken off the show by force, I love them all. The show is the best because all of the characters have chemistry together.

Honestly, none of us know what goes on behind closed doors so well never know what really happened. Washington is a great actor, but its true hes gotta take it like a man and not whine in the media excessively. The show is not going to be the same by a long run. Look at shows like Friends, Seinfeld, they NEVER got rid of main characters. Season 4 might be it. I still love it though!

No, he so does not deserve to be fired. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make things right after he made those comments last fall. He deserved another chance and he was not given that opportunity. I’m sad to say that I will no longer be watching Grey’s Anatomy. Dr. Burke and Christina are the couple that really made that show interesting and I think ABC will find that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

No I do not think he should be fired. What ever did happen to freedom of speech. He was wrong for being that rude and saying anything like that and should have appologized but for networks to get involved in these little boy fights and fire one to protect them selves was wrong. It was not very manly for knight to get mommy and daddy involved and virually stick his tongue out and laugh. I just never realized that gays had more rights than straights. Just how long are we going to have to pay back and owe Gays more than we get because we did not always accept thier life style. Now don’t get me wrong I do believe with all my heart there are some people who are gay because of thier chemical make up and they try to adjust. They are not at fault. But some, well you know what I mean.

Yes, I think he should have been fired. And where is the mouth Al Sharpton when one of his color says a “bad word”? Old Sharpton demanded Don Imus be fired and he was. Now it is time for the other big mouth to STAY fired. Who needs him? He is NOT a good actor, just a loud-mouth. I will certainly enjoy it more WITHOUT him. He is a loudmouthed racist trouble-maker. You don’t see Don Imus running around whining “poor me” so why don’t you just shut up!!!

Are we all this dense? Do you really think he was axed simply for calling TR the F word? Did anybody read his rant yesterday? On and on about how he was fired because people are afraid of a strong black man. Come on! Get over yourself! I’m confident that there was much, much more that happened on that set that we will never hear about and that the slur against TR was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back. The entertainment industry is what it is. Actors come and go. In any series that is ensemble based, at least one major character goes and is replaced each year, and guess what. Perhaps he sealed his own fate by bing a bigot and racist himself. Maybe he knew at the beginning of the year that he would be gone, and that he knew that any publicity is good publicity, and he is simply setting himself up for a new gig. He doesn’t want to be forgotten, he wants to hook up with a hew show! Grow up people.

I don’t think Mr. Washington should have been fired. After all isn’t it true that the Knight guy is gay. So no one liked the name he used. It’s just a word….it doesn’t change the fact that Mr. Knight is gay. Mr. Washington did not deserve to lose his job….my God if any of us was fired for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time….no one would be working.

As for what Washington said, well, I think it wasn’t his brightest moment in many ways. But comparing him to Knight as an actor is like comparing a persian cat and a snake in the grass. Knight is the snake in the grass and not a very good actor and I’m afraid this firing will greatly affect the viewing of the show in the future. Maybe he’s right. If I had my choices I’d much rather watch Washington as an actor than the nobody Knight any day!

Bigotry is bigotry. If it had been a racial slur that he used twice toward his co-worker, my guess is there wouldn’t be this dialogue because it’d be clear that he should be fired. He insists he’s being fired because of (race-related) bigotry. The irony seriously pains me….

Come on haven’t you ever said or done something that you wish you wouldn’t have after you done so? We all have! Don’t fire a good actor for something like this…come on it could hurt his future. I just hope that Grey’s don’t make to many “bad” changes this coming season and it hurt the show. Cause that was the top show on TV. Think about what the viewers want to watch. Come on we like him.

I do not believe that Isiah should have been fired. I work for a company that is very diversed and you learn to accept people for who they are. It does not mean you have to like what they do.
I believe that he should have beed disciplined for his actions but to fired him was a bit harsh.
He was a main character on the show and his presence will be missed. I don’t think it will be the same without him.

Isaiah should not have been fired. Regardless to what was going on behind the scenes at Grey’s it did not take away from his acting.

HIRE HIM BACK!!! HE’S GOOD.

YES YES YES this arrogant, obnoxious idiot should have been fired. He’s a lousy actor too.
Can’t wait to see next season without him…hope his character gets killed off by someone like himself. I can’t stand this guy.

NO, NO, NO—-Washington should NOT have been fired! There were other ways to deal with the situation than to take it to the hightest action, a firing. It pretty much looks like a race issue, although I hate to bring it up… The choice to let him go despite the steps he took to to make up for his mistake, proves ABC had this up their sleeve all along! I really love the show, especially the crazy relationship he and Sandra Oh had! I’m thinking about not watching after this “rucus” that ABC has created for itself. Could they be doing this to boost ratings?

Of course, if he worked at Burger King and slung mud at co-workers he would be fired. Why should being a minor TV star be any different. As a gay man we are used to losing and being kicked around by the courts and the voters, it feels great to experience some justice. He can’t act anyway. California has laws against employment discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, or sexuality. The network would have been liable for a lawsuit if they kept him. Just like if an employee had created a hostile work atmosphere by calling Washington any number of derogatory names for African Americans.

ISIAH WASHINGTON SAID IN FRONT OF MILLIONS OF T.V. VIEWERS THAT HE DID NOT CALL HIS CO-STAR THAT DEROGATORY NAME. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT IF HE HAD DONE THIS HE WOULDNT HAVE BROUGHT IT UP AGAIN. THEN ABC AND THE PRODUCERS OF HIS SHOW REQURE FOR HIM TO MAKE PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, WHICH I BELIEVE HE DID DO JUST TO SAVE HIS JOB AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT BETWEEN THE VIEWERS AND THE PRODUCERS WHILE ALL THE TIME KNOWING IN HIS HEART WHAT HE REALLY MEANT. THEN AFTER ALL OF THIS TO BE BROUGHT DOWN BY FIRING. ABC HOW COULD YOU? GREY’S ANATOMY YOU CERTAINLY BETTER HAVE SOME BETTER STORY LINES THAN SOME OF THAT CRAZINESS THAT WAS WRITTEN LAST SEASON TO KEEP ME AND MY FAMILY WATCHING. BOTTOM LINE IS WE WANT ISIAH WASHINGTON BACK!!!!!

We are avide followeers of greys antomy but after this. I doubt it. For everyone else just boycott it too.
