L.A. City Attorney: 'We Cannot Tolerate a Two-Tiered Jail System Where the Rich and Powerful Receive Special Treatment'

L.A. City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo has just issued an angry letter blasting the L.A. Sheriff’s Department’s decision to release Paris Hilton from jail.

In a statement to TMZ.com, Delgadillo said:

"Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail.

My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds.

News reports indicate that the Sheriff's Department released Ms. Hilton to house arrest due to a medical condition. This explanation is puzzling. Los Angeles county jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates.

I am also concerned that the judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case. Ms. Hilton was incarcerated as a condition of her probation. As a result, the judge retained jurisdiction over her case and only the judge has the power to modify these conditions of probation. If Ms. Hilton's medical condition truly warranted a change in her circumstances, what should have happened is the following: Ms. Hilton's legal counsel should have filed an emergency application with the court and provided my office with the opportunity to respond, and then the court could have held a hearing on the matter to consider whether there was sufficient justification to change the terms of his original order.

I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case.

If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment. We must ensure that in our city, in our nation, and under our Constitution, justice remains blind."

I am very disappointed in our system. This is not right! Do we wait until she drives drunk and kills an innocent child before anything is done? No, wait. She would get off on that also.

Don’t buy any magazines with her face in it. This was probably all planned out from the beginning.

Our judicial system is not fair, if you have fame and money you are always a preferred customer. Shame on you Sheriff. No wonder people don’t trust us in other countries because of our double standards.

The DA’s office has no control over the Sheriff’s office so he is NOT misplacing blame, thus the reason for the angry letter where the DA writes “my office was not informed of this action. ” Sherrif’s Dept. run the jails, DA’s run the court system and they are always at odds about it.

Paris release from Jail is a shows what type of the legal system our nation has. This just goes to show that our judicial system is partial to celebrities. If this was a regular Joe he would have been transfered into a bigger cell and not released to live in there mansion. I wounder how many fellatios she had to perform to be released.

I think it is interesting that the city attorney wants to misplace the blame. Is it or is it not his responsiblity to make sure that he is fully informed. Sounds as if he needs to do his job! If he is truly blameless then maybe the sheriff needs to be fired. Has anyone checked their bank accounts? Have they had an influx of cash lately? How about the judge? It is complete proof that if you are a celebrity and/or have money you can get away with anything! Paris needs to grow up! Who could possibly want to associate with her after this? Sponsors beware!

That is BS that she is out. She could at least servered 2 weeks. She didn’t learn her leason if anything it’s a slap on the hand. The leason taught to her is “Sure you can do it again. Just give a few tears act like your crazy and out you go”. What the hell does she have to kill someone in order to get time. Mr.Sheriff grow some balls or was it a payout??? There are doctors there to treat her as well as medication. I use to be a fan of hers. And respected the fact she was going to sit in there for a few weeks and teach others don’t do stupid things or you’ll end up in jail. Go to Hell Paris. You just proved to the world your a complete loser!!! My prediction everyone will hate you and your fame will go down the drain.

What is Paris doing HOME? If she has such a horrible medical condition then she needs to be in a hospital or psychiatric facility? Sounds to be some got bribed! This is an injustice to America’s legal system. Every prisoner and American should be outraged! LA City Attorney couldn’t of said it better in his statement: If the police system wants respect they need to show respect to the law abiding American people!

Well, do something! Fire the Sheriff. Call the Mayor. Call the Governor! Bring that spoiled brat back to jail. Or let every other prisoner go because of their health problems or because they were crying!!! This makes me sick.
